    Confused in Cali

I'm feeling a lot better now! I checked it out and it is a supervised diet. So am I supposed to be successful on this six month supervised diet? I know I won't. My problem is emotional eating and portion control. I swear, my belly is an endless pit....I'm assuming if I do bad, then that will make them speed up the process. My rationale is that I'm just speeding up the inevitable :-) My appt. isn't until mid February...Got a whole lotta diet sabotaging to do!!!!!!!! LOL, LOL.
  2. Met with my Dr. on Friday to let her know that I'm interested in the procedure and would like to get the process rolling. She immediately tried to discourage me from getting it done. She informed that the process will take one year and that I start seeing a Nutritionist then, "see how that goes.." WTF?!!!! I'm so confused! I'm 5ft.4in, weigh 294, have too many ailments to type.....and I'm only 31. Is this normal? Has anyone had to see a Nutritionsist first? I wanted to tell her, "Lady, do you honestly believe a nutritionist is going to tell me anything new from the other diet programs I've been through?!!" Is this just a bump in the road? Or is it the first step? I'm so confused. Has anyone out there been through this? Please let me know what my Nutritionist visits will consist of.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I needed to vent. I should have questioned my dr. more. It seems that she wants me to begin seeing a nutritionist. Since I am going through my insurance, I guess this is the beginning of the process. They will cover 100% of the procedure, so I guess equates to jumping through more hoops. I just got my hopes up a bit too high after reading through the threads and seeing others progress and assuming my experienece will be just as smooth, fast, etc... Thanks again and wish me luck!

    Lapband And Pcos

Oh, how I wish there was a forum for PCOS...I have it also and it's one of the main reasons why I'm going to start the process of getting the procedure. I too am pretty good about what I eat. I had a personal trainer for eight months, at a private studio who worked the hell out of me. Didn't lose a pound, but my curves were BEAUTIFUL! When he noticed I wasn't losing weight, he was the one who made me see my Dr and look into PCOS. It explains EVERYTHING going on with me-The facial hair, the occasional influx of testosterone, the HBP, etc.. I've read some research on PCOS and the first action to remedy it is weight loss, so I'm hoping this will help.

    Losing too fast?

OMG Lillyanne_M, that's my biggest fear also...Losing my hair! Congrats to you and if you hear any horror stories of hair loss due to significant lack of nutrients, please let me know!!

    Okay, I'm new here too!!

Good luck to you! I've been spending the past couple of weeks reading various threads to answer my questions. I meet with my Dr. this Friday to get the process started. I'm 100% positive I'm a candidate (49.4 BMI, 288 pounds, only 5ft. 4in., PCOS, HBP, sleep apneia, serious hormonal inbalance and the list is infinite). I've already checked to make sure my insurance covers the cost. My out of the pocket fees are minimal/manageable which is a true blessing But after reading various threads, I still have questions!!! Will I have excess skin? Will I not be able to adjust to the new way of eating? Of course I won't know the answer until I actually get the procedure done, but I sure wish I could find someone in this laband forum-sphere who could tell me it's going to be alright. WHEW! Felt good to get that out!!!!

    Two Surgeries @ One Time?

Thanks so much for the response! Truly appreciate it! I've just switched insurance coverage and I intend on getting the process started when I have my initial visit with my primary doc....Cross your fingers for me! THANKS AGAIN!
  8. New to all this. Just in the research phase.Curious to know if anyone out there knows if it's possible to have the Lapband procedure AND have fibroids removed all at one time? I have extremely large fibroids and my Doc has suggested that I have them removed, so ideally, I'd like to take care of it within one trip. Is it wishful thinking?! :help: Chubbychoco in Cali
