Any Oct 6 Sleevers out there?
surgerydude replied to MarciaN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not yet, but close. I was too anxious to get some flavor in my mouth, and ended up gulping too much. The Large Bubble Of Gas (think Godzilla-sized) made itself known, and I had to walk around in a circle unless a window-rattler came out. I'm starting to realize how much new stuff there is to learn. -sd -

I with you all - shortness of breath (especially bad, since I live in the Colorado mountains at about 10,000 feet!), exhaustion and general weakness. Also lots of gas. My puree/full liquid starts Tuesday, and I can't wait. First thing for me will be the "watery mashed potatoes" they offer in the Kaiser manual - I suspect it'll taste like a dream. About the only real flavor I've been getting is from the low sodium broths I bought, but those are not very fun to eat. Has anyone else notice the outrageous sodium content on most broths? I would have never noticed... -sd -

Wowsers! That's a lot of bruising. Looks painful! How many ounces are you getting in? Of that, how many is protein? I only drank 32 oz yesterday, all clear protein. I'm about tired of the protein drinks already. I just want plain water but I know I need more than that... Sleevegirl - what are you using for clear protein drink? I've been using colored Isopure, but having found anything clear to this point. Curious, and maybe hopeful for something better than Isopure. Side note: The family bought me an ice shaving machine. Today I'm going to try to make some Isopure shave ice, or something similar. Hope it's OK! -sd -

Unlike some of you (apparently), I was told to be on a clear liquid diet for the first week post-surgery. Combine that with the clear liquid before the surgery and I'm left wonder: what am I expected to "dump"? -sd -

Not bad at all, really. Only hurts when I'm trying to lay down. I've seen that other people are doing their sleeping in a recliner - I'm gonna try that this evening. Really looking forward to a bit of broth tonight! -sd -

Surgery completed on the 6th (7:30 am), out the door at noon today. A little sore, but moving forward. All water, but two little blobs of jello just before I left the hospital. I didn't remembering liking jello in the past, and it isn't any better now. Ah well - I'm looking forward to trying some broth tomorrow. [ddg] -

Has anyone else been keeping an online log/blog? I put in my last pre-surgery entry in mine, so I feel like I'm actually ready for it (4am wakeup, 7:30am tomorrow - Tuesday - morning). Wanna waste some time hearing someone else whining about their WLS surgery? Feel free to read through mine: http://wls-process.blogspot.com/ If you've got one, post it here so I can commiserate! -sd -

I hear ya. And the guy at the GNC said "It tastes horrible!". So, someone use to chugging creatine powder hates this drink? Not a good sign... -sd -

I got my appt: 7:30 am, the first surgery of the day. My whole team was excited for me - they said the probably means I can get out of the hospital after a single night stay. Yay! Looking forward to? Running on the soccer field with my boys. Long bicycle rides (my wife and I have planned on an 80-mile ride for our 25th anniversary, which will be about 1 yr. after surgery). Clothes at a normal store instead of Casual Male XL. Sitting at a booth without squishing against the table. Knees and ankles not hurting. Lots of hopes here!!! -sd -

It's the 6th. I'm trying to stay really, really busy to keep my mind off of it. I've never been in a hospital - and have rarely visited. So all of my anxiety is about something unknown to me. -sd -
