    55+ The wonders of VSG

Just turned 56, VSG on 10/6/2015. Feeling better than I have in a decade. I hope others really do take this seriously, even at a more advanced age! -sd

You know you lost weight when

Your pants fall down walking into the local YMCA. :-( -sd
  3. chrys, Hang tough with this. It appears that the saying "People, they make a mess..." hits us when we are down. Shortly after my surgery, my son attempted suicide and it was devastating, but it seemed like a focus on the post-surgery efforts actually helped me stay upright and sane. Just know that we are all rooting for you! -sd
  4. Merry Christmas to all, and hang tough! -sd
  5. That's awesome, Thinner. Thanks! -sd
  6. I will have follow ups for 2 years every 3 months I've got a follow-up with Kaiser this week, but the doctor doesn't need to see me until 6 months. I think he's written me off as a "don't worry about this one" case. -sd
  7. You are lookin' great, RG! -sd
  8. That is such great advice. I just got through a bit of a stall - I'd not seen a drop for about 6 days. But I could feel my body change, and I actually fit in some pants that I'd not worn in two years. Glad I saved 'em! Thanks to you guys, I tried a little carb hit and that jumped me out of stasis. Just went through some family horrors, and am so glad I got sleeved. This is exactly the kind of thing I used to eat my way through, but food is no longer the center of comfort for me. -sd
  9. You sure you didn't mean .3 ounces? -sd
  10. I've been told I look like a snowmobile repair man, so there's that... Differ'nt Strokes! -sd
  11. You too, man. Best thing? I feel fantastic! -sd

  13. Yeah, head hunger is tough. Portion control is also tough - especially once you are back at work. I've got co-worker in town all week this week, and it means eating out for almost every meal, and taking advantage of the company tab. For everyone except me. Luckily, I'm finding ways to cope - even though it's not perfect. But, for example, today's lunch was miso soup with a protein drink snuck in after-the-fact. But I'm losing weight daily through this, so something must be going right. But a big part of it is that I've found a protein drink I can do consistently, so that keeps me full. I've also had a couple of bouts of dumping, so now when I look at a pie ala mode, it just looks like something that would make me really, really sick. I don't know how people that can't drink the protein drinks can do it. I would be lost without mine (Muscle Milk Light). -sd
  14. Really hard to imagine what "the good ones" means in this context... -sd
  15. Mmmmm - that sounds good. I just picked up some Tilapia for tomorrow night. -sd
  16. Oh man, that's harsh. I hear you about the 'sweet tart' flavors; it all seems like kiddie food. Stay tough and win! And yeah, I'm starting to fall in love with my measuring cups. They are my portal into food. -sd
  17. Soft and moist foods begin today! Thanks, Kaiser plan! Just started the day with a mini-egg-sub-omelette with cheese and ham. I'm in freakin' heaven. I don't think I'll ever be able to look a chicken broth in the eyes again. RAWR! -sd

    Social Media?

I've got a blog I maintained here: http://wls-process.blogspot.com/ Mostly pre-op; I just got sleeved last Tuesday. -sd
  20. It kind of blows me away to see the wide variety of pre- and post-op food plans that different doctors/systems require. I'm doing it the Kaiser way, which seemed really restrictive until I hear your story! -sd
  21. Woohoo! Full liquid meal plan begins today! Cream of Wheat, here I come! -sd
  22. You are gonna call your Doc, right? -sd I called Dr..they want me to do gatorade only rest of day and see how I feel in morning..I may have gotten pouch too full. I am diabetic and have to eat every few hours. I am back at work for a few hours a day so I am going home to rest and start drinking..lol Thanks for the update, ABS - we were worried. -sd
  23. You are gonna call your Doc, right? -sd
  24. During our pre-surgery classes, I specifically asked about a salad. The NUT suggested that it would be six months before we should try salads - the 'stickiness' of the lettuce leaf is a problem. -sd
  25. Colorado here. Woke up and finally BM'd. Somehow, that seems like a real accomplishment. There will be no more self-respect after this process! "Yippie, I pooped everyone!" -sd
