I am getting grief at work about losing weight...It's a long story, but my priority is to do what is best for me and I actually started looking into this process before the issues at work came up. I am looking to get banded as soon as I can if it is the best choice for me. Anyone on the site from NH and what is the shortest turnaround time from start to banding that you have heard of? Thanks!I called my surgeon in Mexico on a Wednesday set my surgery for the following Monday. Voll La done.
Is that fast enought for you?? Good Luck on your journey:thumbup:

Dont be scared....you know it's the right thing to do. you will be fine and skinny....

I went to Mexico for my banding. All was goood on my way back to the airport after surgery. The moment the plane took off I had so much pain in my band area. The flight attendant took good care of me just like a nurse. I thought it was just a fluke. When I returned to Mexico for my fill there it went again tight as can be.
Your guess is as good as mine. I think altitude does make a differance.

I have noticed that lapbanders that have insurance like to say bad things about going to Mexico. You would see a definate change of attitude if "they" were a self pay. Mexico starts to look pretty good.

So - I wanted to post this to get some feeback form other bandsters. I am 9 months post op and am doing great. I haven't lost as much as others, (down 45 since surgery time) but my weight loss has been steady and good enough for me. I'm and haven't regretted anything. :smile2:I would say I pam retty close to (if not already at) my sweet spot. I have good restriction and had my last fill I think about 6 weeks ago. The only downside that I experience is when I have to go out and socially eat like for work or with friends/family. I have to be extra cautious on what items I choose from the menu. I need to make sure they are items I can tolerate and eat at a bit faster pace than I am used to to keep up with everyone else at the table without getting a lodger (what I call stuck/painful episodes). Usually I pick items that are softer and easier to get down, like Soup, Beans, etc. And so far this has worked out just fine for me.
However, my parents are coming into town next month for a weekend and we are planning on trying to have a good time. That includes over indulging in food and drinks - probably eating lots of starchy food that doesn't work too well with my current restriction.
So, I was wondering what others may think about me getting a slight un-fill before they get here so I can indulge with them! I want to be able to take my parents out to Breakfast, and not just have to sit there and sip on
coffee because my band is too tight in the morning to try to get anything except for oatmeal down. Of course, my plan would include going back to the doctor after my visitors leave to try to get back to my sweet spot.
Is this a selfish thing for me to be thinking of doing? Or should I just be happy that I have the flexibility with the band to do it and go for it? What do you all think?
What to do??? It sounds to me like you are trying to take a break. If I were anywhere near my "sweet spot" I would not change a thing. I look at weight lose like a foot race one foot in front of another. Why would you want to run the wrong way for a day? or a week? or ever. Of course only you can make the decision to what is best for you. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A NICE VISIT WITH YOUR FAMILY.

You look great...I love the new haircut.

I had my first fill yesterday. I stood on the (ledge or footrail) of the fluoroscope machine. They took a picture of my port and inserted the needle. The Dr. put in 2cc of saline solution then tipped the fluoroscope machine back to a table top mode with my feet above my head. When Dr. put me up right the blood rushed from my head, and I fainted dead away. I woke up on the flat table mode with smelling salts under my nose. I ended up with a 2.6cc fill. I have never fainted before. I hope it's not a new faze of old age. LOL.

Hello All,
I live in Pleasanton in the east bay. I have a low BMI so the local doctors were not interested in giving me my gastric band. I researched lapband doctors and came up with Dr. Lopez-Corvala in Mexico. It was a great experience. I am 5'6" a hit the scale at 200# I still fall in the obese catagory. I am 66 yo and suffer all the problems of the obese back and hip pain, super headaches, high cholestrol, and high bp. I have great support from dh at home but would love to meet up with a lapband buddy. I have not told any of my family members as they would not unterstand. All my sibblings, cousins, aunts and uncles are tall and thin.

I was banded 3 weeks ago (01/21/08) I am from a family of tall thin people. Parents, siblings, cousins, all thin. I was the one that suffer from chubbyhood. Always the biggest in class, church, work etc. I was lucky I did not have to experience nasty coments from family or friends. Everyone was just non expressive or polite because of my family standing in the community. I was the class ghost.
I am married to a wonderful understanding-supportive husband. We have a beautiful 28 yo daughter. I will share my banding with my husband, and my daughter went with me to banding. No one else will be included in my happiness. Let them guess or gossip. I joke with my husband... I tell him I must have been adopted from "MARS" hehe. I love my life, and I like a little secret.

I was banded by Dr. Lopez-Corvala 3 weeks ago. Everything was easy. After much research I just called down scheduled surgery fly down, was picked up and taken to hospital, have all pre test. Have the surgery. I rested in hospital a couple of days. I stayed an extra day at a loclal hotel. The biggest hassle was waiting in the line at the border. I had my pass-port at the ready all went smooth. I would do it all over again. I will go down for my fills as they covered for a year. I can get $49.00 flights and he charges $100 for floro. I am one happy CHICA...I have lost 14 lbs. in 3 weeks.
-
I am 11 days out of surgery. I have been consuming 600-800-calories a day plus my 60 grms. of Protein. I have lost 11 lbs in 11 days. How long will this last? I guess when the swelling goes down from the surgery the weight loss will slow down..
-
I had to work for it. I sell real estate...so I had to sell a house, and dedicate my fees to surgery. I actually sold my neighbors ranch along with the cattle. This was a large sale so I will have a little extra cash I will save for my ps. I also had a back up plan (plan B) I won $22,000. from a jackpot at a gamming club in RENO. I had put the money away a couple of years ago while I was deciding to have surgery.

My BMI was 32.5 I had surgery 01/21/08. Call down to Mexico it take a week to set a date and it over. My dh is supportive but it was over before he had much time to think about it. As for telling anyone no needs to know accept dh. I am one happy woman. Love my band think I'll give her a name.

I was banded on 01/21/08 I stayed on clear for a week. I only took pain meds at hospital. I stayed in Mexico 3 days. When I returned home just layed around and walked the gas off my tummy. Maybe you are rushing things a bit. This is not a drive through surgery... Hope you get well soon. Keep us posted

I just returned from my mini spa vacation in Mexico. Dr. Lopez was my tour guide. The whole adventure was just as I thought very easy. I did suffer with gas pain and, the cure is walk, walk, and, more walk It really works. I am home now resting comfortable sipping on my fruit2o it's wonderful and the drink keeps me hydrated. OH... by the way I just turned 66 years young. I will be happy to lose the fat and the pain in my hips. Hugs to you all,
