curvybritt replied to mrs w's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
My nutritionist says to gain or lose 5kg is okay, anything more I need to see her. -
December 2015 sleevers progress check
curvybritt replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a November 2015 sleeper, can I chime in? Weighed 109kg, dropped to 82kg at the moment, that's 27kg lost. But for the last three months I haven't had the scale move at all... major stall. My nutritionist said I wasn't eating enough and to concentrate on my protein. So I'm making sure to have 5 meals a day, and around 75g of protein a day if I can. It's difficult sometimes. I think i need to get exercising, which is hard with my shift work job. Thinking about hiring a treadmill. Well done for all your progress! -
6 days post op and screwed up bad...
curvybritt replied to MTWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you been able to speak to your doctor yet? Do you feel fine now? I completely understand the cravings, and they are the worst in the weeks immediately after surgery. You begin to miss just chewing.. anything! Chewing sugar free icey poles helped and I let them melt in my mouth. I was terrified my first few weeks so never really had anything solid until I was allowed. I was worried as I was warned that even a little bit of shredded chicken could hook onto my staples and create an infection. If you are still feeling hungry and your cravings are bad please consider reflux. Mine was so bad that it kept me awake at night and I thought it was hunger. I doubled my dose of Nexus prescribed by the surgeon (on his recommendation) and it immediately resolved itself. From then on I had no hunger pain, or cravings. -
The amount of Protein you should intake depends on your starting weight, the nutrients you take in other parts of your diet, and how much you need to lose. Speak to your nutritionist or dietician for better details.

Don't worry you're still adjusting, it's hard. Your emotional habits will take a while to leave you. You will only "stretch" your pouch if you do it constantly to the point of pain every day. However, many people have tried the pouch reset test and their pouch has actually gone back to what it was.

I agree with the others, you're still early out so there will still be a large amount of swelling in your tummy. So you will only be able to tolerate small amounts of solid foods - larger amounts of mushy or pureed foods, and even larger amounts of liquids - if you get what I mean. But I make sure even now to chew chew chew until it's basically pureed so I can still enjoy food, and I can have more than two bites.

I was drinking coffee 7 days out, with approval from my team. I'm sure it would be fine, just ask them maybe.
-
I never had that much trouble, I'm so sorry. I would visit your surgeon if you haven't already. It sounds like you can't get adequate nutrition in at all at this point.

I'm six and a bit months out and although I'm not gurgling as much, I still have to burp silently a few times to be able to get food down. Though I still get random embarrassing gurgles haha.

Feeling odd eating at restaurants
curvybritt replied to loyalty_queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're still feeling sick after eating maybe best to wait until you don't feel nauseous while eating. i have eaten at restaurants a few times and i've gotten used to only eating an appetiser - though garlic bread still tempts me! -

Obsessing over numbers - constantly seeking a loss
curvybritt replied to pickle25's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do. But I also find it interesting watching my weight fluctuate. I've weighed myself every day, and recorded it (fitbit). I can then see how my weight normally functions during the week so I don't stress out about it so much. If that makes sense. -
Congrats!

I'm on my ninth week and it's only just started to stop feeling uncomfortable. My surgeon says that it's just because there is still swelling in your stomach, and due to reflux. I'm still taking Somac daily. I have what feels like a bubble feeling, where the food needs to pass an air bubble in my stomach before it will go down. It's only now that you've mentioned it that I've realised it may have stopped!

So strange how they are all different, mine had no problem with coffee and was fine with it 2 weeks out.

"Comparison is the death of joy." - Mark Twain So true! Enjoy your loss, you earned it! You may not be losing like others but your body is different. I guess you could say that I'm losing slowly too, but I had a stall for three weeks. My body was still changing, and I was still losing cms. @@dance1229 My dietician recommends 80-100g Protein a day, and to stay under 60g carbs. You also need to stay between 800-1000 calories a day.

Diahrea and incontinense
curvybritt replied to heartofthetinman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No problems for me. On my liquid diet I had diarrhoea, and after taking Gaviscon I had constipation. Since then I poop normally every 2 days. -
10 days post-op - very weak
curvybritt replied to Half of Bri's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was so so weak until about 2.5 weeks out. I would nap for an hour or two in the day, and that was me trying tasty awake. I started work at 2 weeks out, which I think helped me snap myself out of it, and concentrated a lot on Protein intake. TBH, I didn't really walk that much. I would pace a little for the gas pain but otherwise I was too tired. I would go to the shops to do the grocery shopping, or walk around a big centre. But worked helped with the walking too. -
i've heard of some people not being able to eat dairy due to weight gain, as pretty much one of their only symptoms of an intolerance.
-
I don't experience physical hunger, only head hunger. I'm 5 weeks out. I also go through periods where food doesn't really interest me and it's merely fuel, only because the foods that I want to eat I can only eat in small portions, and I can't "enjoy" it as much as I used to, but I take that as a win. i think it will get easier when more of the swelling goes down. I did have reflux though when I had my surgery, still do. Be aware that that can mimic hunger, as it did for me.

Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
curvybritt replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. How long did you go before having your first drink? 3 weeks - a small glass of wine for my friend's birthday. 2. Have you had any MEDICAL complications with your surgery that were attributed to drinking alcohol? None at all. 3. Have you gained back significant weight from drinking alcohol? No, still losing. 4. Have you developed an alcohol addiction post VSG after having been able to control your drinking before? No. It certainly effects me differently. I feel like I get the buzz from the first sip, but I don't get tipsy, just that lightly buzzed feeling then I feel like I have to stop. -
Anyone else come home for surgery with diarrhea?
curvybritt replied to HopeandAgony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 Protein shakes in the day helped me with my 3-4 day constipation. -
Congrats, and good luck!
