Wondering, once again, why I have to struggle so hard
Catalystmb replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alexandra, I've been searching for the same answer for the better part of a decade. Why we do it....is it an addiction? It may be. I know I have been in the middle of a mini "binge" KNOWING I should not be doing it.......AS I was eating the whatever. Then I have moments/days, even weeks of total control and clarity regarding healthful eating and living. Journaling is good. Keep that up in your fitday. Hopefully oneday there will be an answer. -

I did think though that I smelled a rat early on. His/Her posts simply ooooozed "ebook" with all of the "more later"s. More hits on the OP......or someone else using his moniker.....hockey buff and online gamer...... Wonder if he's wearing a headset and if mom knows he's on the computer on a schoolnight...... -

Hey there Headhunterr..... Care to 'splain your posts on a board for marketing about your ebooks you're hocking? Or is it two books now? Last year (per date on post) someone had a similar situation with WLS which resulted in his intestines being...blah blah blah..... Do you think this is amusing? If this was a hobby board I would just think you were an imbicile. There are people here seeking answers to something they are battling. They don't need you and your ebooks. How about coming out about your stinkin' ebooks in the introductory line of your first post. You would have earned some credibility. People would have sighed and moved on...or maybe one or two would have thrown you a few pennies for your ebook......

and more from the #$%&* "Actually, this is a niche I am now entering. My story is quite Unique and compelling. In a nutshell: I was VERY overweight...morbidly obese most of my life. Metabolism VERY VERY messed up because of all the diets I had been on that failed. Had weight loss surgery - it DIDN't WORK, my metabolism was SO screwed up, lost only NINE POUNDs as a result of the surgery, and put all of that back on. Infections from the surgery almost killed me, 4 trips to emergency. Had to have additional surgeries to clean up the mess....had an open wound in my stomach for a year as a result. THEN, I studied, and studied some more, and found a methodology of eating and living that SAVED MY LIFE. Lost ninety pounds EASILY in a few months, I have NEVER been this healthy. There's a lot more to this story TONS of energy, up at 4:45 every morning, work until 11:00 at night. My whole life has turned around as a result. So, I'm putting a package and program and Ebook together. There are answers out there.....you just have to be willing to do the research......" Ok, so he's a poser. It's not what he tried to do, it's what it brought out of YOU. Don't feel duped by this person. You rallied behind eachother. INTENTION people, intention. Everyones intention on this thread EXCEPT the OP was pure. Have a great day! PS Google was one of the greatest investments I made.......I love google..... PPS If ANY of you did actually pm him or contact him regarding your bad outcomes, please know that he will use your info in some form and I will bet dimes to dollars that you won't see a dime while he is making money off of you. -

as you've admitted and read back to you, you were one of them.. Oneday years ago it was your answer too. I am in the PRE BAND stages and yes, at this time it is the answer for me. I understand and fully accept the risks of surgery. Dude, YOU posted here. If you didn't know that posting on a MESSAGE board would yield questions, comments etc I don't know what to tell ya'. We're waiting for the ENTIRE STORY. Heed the advice AGAIN, write an ENTIRE post.....but I'd do it on a blog unless you want people to coment. And yes, when I am quoted, I will reply. And when you throw insults around, yes we will tango. You've quoted me, I'm assuming I'm the you you are asking about. Nope, never said don't share your story. Doing it in a less RUDE way would be nice but I couldn't care less. ((This is the stuff that makes people think you are here for kicks....)) Do it on both. If you post here, however, there will be replies. The replies it seems piss you off. ... -

You're wrong on all counts. Not a nurse. Never took a temp and have never emptied a bedpan but have respect for the nurses on this board. BUT....I may just be the one holding the blade though on your next surgery. :tt1: -

STOP STOP STOP right there. You are fear mongering now!! Newbies, PLEASE don't be scared. Some of you will be a surgeons first. A Surgeon CAN NOT APPLY the band because he has gone to some class...read up on it, seen a few applied etc. He HAS to be proctored and for the first several(dozen ssometimes--with other new devices I have witnessed), a proctor is there as well as a person from the company who manufactures the item. There is ALWAYS a second pair of experienced hands RIGHT there with him/her (scrubbed and assisting with surgery) until they have so many procedures under their belt. Also, surgery is not like a GYN doc going to a weekend course then shooting botox. SURGEONS spend years in the OR before they are attendings and out on their own. This burns my butt especially...sorry...but please stop scaring people more than they will be. -

Where is that statistic? Geez, I'm gonna get the meanie award I know it but your port coming out of your skin WAS YOUR FAULT! You need to address an infection ASAP...no matter what the cost. I do not know the makeup of the band but in other implants.....we use silicone, titanium, silastic tubing, silk, nylon etc all NON REACTIVE to MOST people. There have been people who rejected knees/hips. Hell, I know people whose teeth won't hold a filling. This is your lot in life. It sucks yes. And I KNOW I would be infuriated reading replies here....its the nature of the beast. The beast being text on a screen without voice, tone and inflection. B U T, you posted here....I assume you wanted to have this conversation. One of the replies suggested you make a blog....that's a great idea...you can go on and on and no one will bother you. you can disable comments if you so choose. -

[quote name=Headhunter;805758well' date=' "hematomas happen"? right.:smile: [/quote] Well, they DO! I also did not take issue with you posting it...but it is no ones FAULT. PROBABLY no ones fault. Sounds/reads like you got appropriate treatment for the hematoma. As far as it being a warranty issue.....that only holds Water IF there is a defect. BTW, love the "duh". It reveals much. Oh, and what was that diet/eating plan you wrote about in your earlier posts....the one you would get to LATER........ I truly hope you get the help you need. Get well. -

This being in litigation, I'm not sure it's wise to talk about ANY of this ona public internet forum????? I am not readin ANYWHERE here that is was technique etc which screwed up your surgery. You had a reaction to the port?? You have embedded tubing? None of this has to so with surgical technique. you may really believe they should pay for it all but if my port flips, I PAY for the revision, not the Dr, hosp etc. NOW, when and if it all comes out of you, it will be reviewed. If it's defective I guess you can recover expenses. Your team and the compnay would know that. Again, nothing I have read in your thread shows a defective piece. It reads YOUR body reacted to it atypically. -

Catalystmb replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
NOTHING I have read here points to malpractice or the surgeon scrweing up the band. Why was the surgeon a mistake? Hematomas happen. Don't mean to sound harsh but they do, I even develop a small one with a blood draw. You may have been clear but it is not their responsibilty ro treat you without payment. You could have been seen virtually anywhere and be billed. In this instance I feel you did this to yourself. The insurance issue in America is something I cannot debate here. I do not feel it is a right, I think it is your responsibility to attain insurance whether you purchased it or get it from an employer. That being said, do not assume I have had it easy regarding insurance. There have been times in my life where I had to purchase insurance on my own. Was it $$, yes. I even chose Cobra after a lay off decades ago...it was $$ but well worth it as I had a youngster at home. If nothing else, there's medicaid, loans etc. I would hock anything I owned to pay for an emergency. The port and tubing are foreign bodies and I imagine in SOME people their body will not tolerate it. Hope you get well. I'd get on it asap. -

I'm the one who mentioned perforation, not the OP. I asked, he answered. Things can be embedded in/on the bowel all your life and you're fine. clips, staples, rings from lap tubals that popped off(yes, it happens) etc. If it causes troubles, colon ressections are lived with all the time also. What caused me to be suspicious of your posts were they read like a web book link....they will always tell you LATER....they have more info COMING....and four pages down you see they want $$. If you're having complications, sorry. Get help. If it's an emergency they will operate now and figure out the $$ later. Everyone here should be made aware of the risks of surgery. You can die. You can also die having a root canal. The risks of being obese greatly outweigh the risks of WLS, in my opinion. Errosions are reported, it's not voluntary. If there is an errosion or a defective port, it is state reportable. The stats are correct. I don't know how current they are, but they are accurate. No reply needed. -

Yeah!! We were trying on TBL thread to not blow it for the West Coasters..... oh well.... She did GREAT!

It's the nasty little habits that are and will be the hardest for me to overcome. Just like the winner who we saw just now admitting (and man, why did they have to show it) sneaking spoonfuls of frozen yogurt in the middle of the night. I'm afraid that without a professionally stocked refrigerator and a fully stocked gym and kick ass trainers to hold my hand I am afraid of those nasty little habits. They did great though. And I LOVE the show, especially the finale. I hope them all the best. They got their life back!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

In the spirit of Dr. Wayne Dyer...... a button for my rep power (or in case of his story, a gold star)......save it for people "who need that sort of thing"....

Thanks for the info. I have asked a few family members I didnt now had one. the battery is not replaceable...and the sensor ran out on two of them within 6 months. The upside is a new sensor alone is less than $25. All said the accuracy was off a bit but what pedometer isn't?? Thanks again.

lap banding on soap opera
Catalystmb replied to Coco6399's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't watch the show. I don't know the character. I do think it is a good tie in with her storyline. I googled GL and the procedure and read a few posts on a soap opera forum. I must have read ten (on one page) posts about how this is not permanent, and reversible. The misinformation is rampant. I hope they are thorough with their research. I know a medical consultant (to the writers of SA's) and she has some stories about the soaps.
