    Pre op diet diet tomorrow

My last day on the Pre-Op diet is tomorrow. My surgery is on Tuesday! I just wanted to say that you can do it! There are some not so comfortable times, like possible headaches and loose stools, but there are also great benefits of watching the scale go down. I have lost 20 lbs over the last two weeks. You don't have to think too hard about what to eat as the list is fairly short and concise. My biggest tip is to add flavor and texture to your Protien drinks. My favorite is vanilla protien powder, a scoop of PB2, a couple tablespoons of Sugar Free Chocolate Torani syrup and 4-6 oz of whole milk. Blend well and then add ice and blend it again. It tastes like a fairly good PB and chocolate shake. I will be praying for you during your surgery.
  3. Hi Saralee! I also live in Spokane. My surgery is next Tuesday. I will be keeping you in my prayers as you move forward in the process! Are you going through Rockwood?

How much did you lose ?

I have been on a Protein drinks only diet for the past 9 days. My surgery is next Tuesday. I have been blessed to not feel very hungry during this process. I pray it will be the same for you as well. I have lost 13 pounds so far.
  5. Meglsw, That is awesome. My surgery was moved up one day, so it is now next Tuesday. Are you on a pre-op diet? I have been for 9 days now. I am so grateful it has not been difficult. I will be praying that your surgery goes well!

  8. Hi Rking, Congrats for being on the other side of the surgery! Mine is scheduled for December 15th. I have been told by my ARNP that I am not allowed to have any medication that is not dissolvable, liquid or crushed for 8 weeks post op. Hertip for the bitter taste was to take a sip gatorade, hold your nose and take the ground up pills, and sip some more gatorade before letting go of your nose. She says it will help, but not make the bitter taste go away totally. There is no hope for that. =0)

    Pre op diet opinions

Hi Kdelrosso, Congrats on making it to the pre-op diet milestone! I will be starting the pre-op diet on Monday, November 30th. My NUT told me the best advice she could give me was to be sure to mix it up by making changes to the drinks (see below). I am to get in 5 to 6 Protien drinks each day, with 15 grams or more of Protein, 15 grams or less of carbs and between 150-200 calories persserving. I can also have the staple sugar-free Jello & popsicles, broth and lots of Water. To mix up the Protein Drinks she recommends trying the following 3 things: 1. Change the flavor: Add baking extracts, almond milk, sugar free syrups, sugar free koolaid, or Crysal light to change the flavor. 2. Change the texture: Add ice to make it colder and thicker. 3. Adjust the Carbohydrate content: If my Protein drink/powder is very low in carbohydrates, I may add ingredients to increase the carbohydrate content up to 15 grams total per serving. She says to not go over 15 grams in total. Some things on the suggested list of add-ins were 1/4 cup of low-fat vanilla yogurt (8 grams), 1/2 cup raw raspberries (7 grams), 1/2 cupsliced strawberries (6-7 grams), 1/2 medium banana (13 grams), 1 (8oz) cup of coconut milk (6 grams). I was told to change up the flavors and textures as much as possible. This will hopefully keep keep me from becoming bored. I went to Super Suppliments and picked up single serving size packets of 7-8different brands and flavors. I didn't want to buy a huge jar if I wasn't going to like the taste or texture. My goal is to try them all this week and then go back and buy some more of the one's I liked. Hope this helps! Once again, Congratulations! I would love to hear how your journey goes!

    Surgery is 12/17! Ahhhhhhh!

Hi Loving! My surgery is on December 15th. It takes a lot to make the decision to move forward with this surgery, so to have gotten to this point means you are strong and you can do it. I would love to have you keep me posted on how your journey goes! I look forward to hearing about all of the victories and challenges, big and small, along the way. ShylaRose
  13. Castillo, I am so sorry I missed responding to this post. Oh, how I understand the struggle to see this as reality. For me, I don't think it will feel real until I have my meetings on Monday with the NUT and my care team. I have not really had a lot of things to plan yet, as I don't know what to expect. Today though I took a step forward and bought Gas-X strips and a chewable multi-vitamin for post surgery....it's not much, but it made me think that this might really be happening in less than a month! I worry that at the last moment my surgery will be cancelled. I don't know why but I cant see it happening. I'm preparing for it and in a lot of ways I know what to expect but I don't see it for me.
  14. Bayougrl, Welcome to the December 2015 group! I totally understand the nerves, but I also know that to have made this decision is not for the "weak at heart", so just remember you are much stronger than you think. I will see my NUT on Monday and will be finding out what my Pre and Post Op diets will look like. I am nervous, but determined to give it my all. Please keep me posted on how your journey goes. ShylaRose
  15. wwboy, How exciting! Keep me posted on how it goes. Dr. Rawlins did the info session I attended. He will do a good job! My surgeon is Dr. Spitz. I like him and feel very comfortable with having the surgery. Are you having to do the pre-op diet? I will be starting that on your surgery date. Me too! I'll be in Spokane for mine next week on December 1. 5am too Haha. Luckily I'm a morning person so it shouldn't be too bad for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hi Kadie, My surgery is scheduled for December 15th at the Rockwood Weight Loss Center in Spokane, WA. Just found out today that mine will be the first surgery of the day which means a 5:00 a.m. arrival time for pre-op. This non-morning person has never been so excited to be up before the sun rises. I will look forward to hearing how your journey goes! ShylaRose
  17. Gigrig, Welcome to our little group! Congrats on having your surgery date set. My surgery date is December 15th. I have my first nutritionist appointment on Monday.I would love to keep in touch and hear how your surgery goes. ShylaRose
  18. Hi Christine, Well, I am the Meyers Briggs classic "INFJ", which means it is very difficult for me to share much with others. I have told my boss and his executive assistant, my sister, and a co-ministry leader at my church. I have yet to tell my mom, as she worries about such things. I am thinking that a couple weeks prior to my December 15th surgery should be about the right time to tell her. A couple weeks for her to process the news, but not enough time for her to drive me too crazy. =0)

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

Steph, What a great idea! I am pre-op. My surgery date is December 15th. My current weight is 272. My goal weight is 257.
  20. Hi All of my December Sleeve Buddies! I just wanted to share how blessed I am feeling this week. My sister showed up at my door with a tub full of Bariatric goodies. There were small bowls, tiny spoons and forks, popcicle molds, protien shaker bottles, food storage containers that can be divided up by ounces, a journal, and arecipe book. Even though I have been making changes to my lifestyle, I have sort of been afraid to look into this kind of stuff because at times I still don't think it is truly going to happen. Is anyone else feeling this way? ShylaRose
  21. Hi Castillo15, I know how you feel. Each day I become a little bit more excited. I look forward on hearing how your journey goes!
  22. Hi Christine! That is awesome. I just found out a week ago that my surgery has been moved to a day sooner. So I will be going in on the 15th. I am also nervous and excited. I would love to hear how it goes for you.
  23. Welcome to the December group! I totally understand being both excited and scared at the same time. I am doing my best to note all of the positives of this lifestyle journey I am embarking upon to help dispell my moments of fear. Today's positive is that I have already been losing some weight. Today I found myself hitching my pants up all day long. Okay, so a little annoying at times, but a great positive as well.
  24. Well, you are the first so far out of the group for your surgery date. I am super excited for you. You will have to keep us posted as to how it goes for you. Oh, the holidays. I know, right? Maybe I am being uber positive, but I don;t think it will be that bad. My family is very supportive and so I don't think they will make a big deal about what I can or cannot eat, or if I cook or don't cook. But, I am single and do not have a husband and kids to worry about. The tough part for me will be to not absentmindedly pick up food as it is everywhere. I have decided to put a Water bottle in one hand and a Protein shake in the other and not put them down every moment that I am awake. That way I will not be able to pick up anything I am not supposed to.
