Down to the wire
Daenerys Targaryen replied to Daenerys Targaryen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I found out my surgeon never did the peer-to-peer that day. My insurance advocate said they will actually do one now. -
Any Tennessee Sleevers Out There?
Daenerys Targaryen replied to BigMommaNoMore's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
All the best to you and your wife. Dr. Woodman is an awesome surgeon. He's a bit blunt but its necessary.I was sleeved by Woodman and never had an issue with him until my last visit. He came into the room complaining about the lady he saw before me had been, "eating ice cream" and then he went on a tirade about how i had only lost 5 lbs since my last visit and how I wasted my time and his by having the surgery. I will not go back to see him again. I have followed his guidelines as best as I can. I dont eat crap, I excercise, I get my proteins.....i have not gained an once and I have lost 10 inches from my waist....also went from a 3x shirt to an XL. .....i didnt need any discouragement from somebody I am paying. .....BTW....he charges $500 up front and my insurance said he is not allowed to do that. Like I said, I will not see him again.. Dr Woodman did my lapband surgery in 2008 and was so mean and nasty to me and other people that I knew that had used him for the lapband. He has a reputation amongst local doctors for being so horrible to his patients. Even though I lost 90lbs that year after the lapband he wrote such awful things in my medical records that I am unable to get a revision now and having to go through the appeals process. All because of him and what all he wrote. My insurance advocate read me some of it when she received the records but said she couldn't even read it all because he had been so mean. -
Insurance approved band removal but denied revision to sleeve
Daenerys Targaryen replied to kgarrettsatx's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
You are not alone. My revision surgery was scheduled for June 28th. Insurance approved band removal and denied bypass. Now I am starting the appeals process. Hang in there and good luck! -
Insurance denied!
Daenerys Targaryen replied to ready16's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am in the same boat. I was denied mid-liver shrink diet a week before my revision surgery date this past Tuesday. I hired Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy group after doing lots of research on them. They have a great track record of getting denials overturned. They started working today on my case and have been updating me throughout the day. So I am hopeful. Maybe they could help you too. -
Pre- Op Insurance Approval Question
Daenerys Targaryen replied to SammiSosa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found out tonight on my insurance's website that my peer-to-peer resulted in another denial, so maybe they are a waste of time. I don't know. I have contacted Lindstrom Obesity Advocacy group to handle my appeals process. Good luck with your appeal! -
Pre- Op Insurance Approval Question
Daenerys Targaryen replied to SammiSosa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
. I am so sorry. My revision surgery was scheduled for yesterday, but insurance denied me too. I had my surgeon do a peer-to-peer phone call, and now insurance is reconsidering the decision (no answer yet). I had to request the peer-to-peer, it was not something my surgeon's office automatically offered. Just an idea if you are looking for a next step. -
Today was supposed to be my band to bypass surgery date, but insurance decided to deny the surgery a couple of weeks ago despite the fact I have met all of their pre-surgery requirements. Yesterday, my surgeon did a peer-to-peer with my insurance, ActiveHealth, and they are currently reviewing my case. Does anyone know what the average turnaround time is for an approval/denial after a peer-to-peer? Are peer-to-peers usually successful?

Surgery June 29th diet?
Daenerys Targaryen replied to Starlitlove08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am June 28th. I had to start the pre-op diet on the 14th. My surgeon is having me drink a protein shake for breakfast, another for lunch, and then a turkey sandwich for dinner (3 oz turkey, no mayo or cheese, lots of veggies on the sandwich). Hope that helps. -

Enlarged heart
Daenerys Targaryen replied to Daenerys Targaryen's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No history of any heart issues, blood pressure and resting heart rate are great, everything is great except heart is slightly larger than normal range. -
I had to get cardiac clearance (due to borderline EKG) for my upcoming lapband to bypass revision. The echocardiagram showed an enlarged heart. The cardiologist explain that a number under 55 is considered a normal heart size and my number was 56, so it is only slightly enlarged. Has anyone had experience with this? Did losing weight reverse the enlargement?

Band to Bypass Revision Success for Super Obese?
Daenerys Targaryen posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I currently weigh 405 lbs. I was banded in 2008 and lost 90 lbs the first year, but anytime I would get a fill my reflux would land me in the hospital with aspiration pneumonia due to reflux in my sleep. So I have been unfilled since 2009 after I decided I was done being hospitalized from band fills. All the weight came back and I am back to where I started at 405. I am currently working towards a revision to gastric bypass. I have so much to lose. I see all kinds of stories of people losing over 200 lbs with the bypass, but I have yet to run across a story of someone losing that much that was a revision from lapband. I have googled and googled but can't find a story of anyone losing several hundred as a revision. So please, if you or anyone you know has been a lapband revision that lost 200+ lbs, I would greatly appreciate the encouragement. I just need to hear that it can be done. -
Time for a new start making appointment for band revision to bypass
Daenerys Targaryen replied to amartyn1's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my lap band put in in 2008. Currently, I am working towards a revision to bypass (nearing end of six month supervised diet insurance requirement). For me, I am having to do all the pre-op stuff all over again- supervised diet, psych evaluation, upper GI, meeting with a nutritionist, EKG, etc. That seems to be the norm from what I've seen on here. -
Lap band to gastric bypass revision info
Daenerys Targaryen replied to Stacylynn1982's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
This is almost identical to my story. I was banded in 08, and lost 90 lbs. started having bad reflux and inhaling stomach acid in my sleep, which resulted in a few hospital stays with aspiration pneumonia. Had to have band un filled and gained all the weight back plus and extra ten. Currently working towards a revision to gastric bypass.
