Am I over thinking clothes buying?
mistycal replied to Broove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy most of my stuff at thrift stores, most even have the store tags attached still! Or the discount type stores. I try to buy what I need because now that I like the clothes I fit in I don't want to give them up!!! It's so hard though because I used to buy what "looked ok" and now I usually like everything I try on!! When I was loosing at a faster pace, when the pants got baggy I would buy ones that were tight again, mostly the stretchy denim type worked well. I think I went from a 18 to a 14 then 10, I'm now in a 8, I now have a few pairs because I'm in them for longer... -

Im 7 months out from sleeve surgery, and I still take oneprazol daily, it's been affective. When I tried to stop taking it around month 3 I had really bad heartburn, they said maybe around 9 months or so to try again to stop taking it... Sometimes I wake up with the acid in my throat thing but it's usually after I've drank coffee around bed time...

I cooked for my family since about my 4th day home from the hospital and its definitely a test of self control! I didn't always eat with them though, sometimes I would cook then go do something else while they ate, once I was allowed solid food again I eat the non-carby, protein items.... My kids are used to it now they just say "oh you can't have it, huh" lol

I had them in the hospital also, probably every 8 hrs and the heparin bruises were worse than my surgery bruising lol -

I felt like everyone was staring at me at the gym
mistycal replied to gustavio's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I felt the same way at the gym at first, but from my experience of what I've seen is unless people are coming up to you saying your doing a great job and stuff like that, then people don't really notice others... The few times I've seen people "judging" others was to bigger men and they were encouraging them. You gotta get out of your head and remember why your there, and that you will most likely only see those people at the gym! And sooner than later you will look like those fit people and possibly feel the same way but that there checking you out lol -
Is this yogurt okay to eat? Nutritional info below.
mistycal replied to kayelly's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I eat a Greek yogurt daily! I have it as desert, also I try to look for the least carbs of the selection at the store, but basically any carbs I have are from this and I have been loosing just fine, and I had plenty of sf Popsicles that first month! They were the only sweet treat allowed and it helped with the head hunger thing. The brand I bought was the "Popsicle" brand, my stores have the original and tropical kind. -
How far out from surgery are you?

Which medical tests can I expect to undergo prior to surgery?
mistycal replied to TracyBar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre-op testing will vary depending on your comorbidities and insurance requirements (i.e. 6 month weigh in). I had a bmi of 42 and no other comorbidities and these were the test I had to do pre-op; Upper endoscopy, Pap smear, blood work, esophageal motility, psych eval, and nutrition class. -
I have 6, one is so small I can't find it now and one other is almost completely gone, so only 4 noticeable ones but there almost faded all the way too at 7 months post op...

HOW MANY POST-OP ANEMICS?
mistycal replied to Diva Taunia's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had the sleeve surgery on 3/8/16 and I was tested for my iron in June at my reg dr, who told me I was severely anemic and put me on 325mg 2x a day. they retested my iron levels 2 weeks ago and they said my levels are normal now. my gastric dr said I was borderline when I had the surgery but they never told me to take an additional dose just the regular recommended amount... -
Mine started falling out around 4 months, I would comb it out with my fingers or brush before showering and it would be a handful of hair then in the shower more would fall out... I had thin hair but a lot of it lol, I took biotin stayed up in my protein/vitamins, if it's going to happen there's not much you can do.... I'm over 7 months now and I have little baby hairs all through the spots that we're getting really scalpy! I did cut my hair in a a-line and put highlights throughout it around 6 months and it looked and felt a lot thicker.

Keep Us Motivated - What Can You Do Now That You Couldn't Do Before?
mistycal replied to switch2lose's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I know I probably could've done this before surgery but I felt too big to ride a bike! I thought everyone would look at me... But now I go out with my kids and it's fun and I don't feel self conscious at all! And shopping has been great! I now have to choose what I want instead of what just looks ok and will do... I try not to buy too many clothes since I'm not at goal yet! There's many more health related ones also. I just feel better about myself and I know it shows, I've noticed I'm approached more often, and I think it's because of feeling so much better about myself and people can see I'm happier! Lol -
How old were you when you had your surgery?

36, 5'2" I had sleeve surgery 3/8/16 Starting 242 Current 161 Goal 120-130's -
Hello! All's good here, I seem to be loosing much slower now though! I had surgery March 8, was 242 day of surgery, and since I didn't have a preop diet I hadn't lost a lot of weight before... I am currently 161. I've lost 81 lbs in almost 7 months! The last 2 months I've averaged about 6 lb. a month and this month I lost 6 inches, last month only 1.... I'm 5'2 and am wearing a size 9 or 8 jeans and a med/large shirt, also I'm wearing a size medium underwear which seems so strange to me!! I'm also going through some of the head games where I feel out of place shopping in the smaller section, but I had a cool thing happen the other day, I was looking for a blazer at a thrift store for an interview and I was trying them on in the isle (which I would have never done before, for fear of it not fitting) and some of them the buttons wouldn't close over my boob area and I was just like ugh almost!A plus size women overheard me and commented "I know what you mean". Lol So a few minutes later she comes up to me with a coat and says this is a great one, I'm not sure what size you wear though...so I thanked her and I looked at the jacket and it was a 8/10 which was the size I was trying on and needing! I just thought it was cool because it showed me how I think of myself really isn't how others see me.... Anyways sorry to blab on lol [emoji4][emoji254]
