mistycal replied to Sherbear2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my egd I was told it was a twighlight sedation, and that some people don't go to sleep all the way, I did though! The surgery I was completely knocked out! -

Waking up after surgery
mistycal replied to Sherbear2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up thinking I was in pain, also felt like I couldn't breathe, they had a oxygen mask they put on me right away, I too had a catheter when I woke up for 24 hrs... And just the Ivs no drain. I wear contacts usually but didn't for surgery and my sister had my glasses so that was another weird experience to be in recovery for 3+ hrs seeing blurry! -
Haha, yes I think that might work better than the gym!!!
-
I'm in a stall also! But down 68 lbs total since march 8, so I cant really complain! I also think I need to up my calories and hit the guy more regularly... I think that will push me out of my stall....

Where are all the march people!! How is everyone doing??

What’s the Most Awkward Part of WLS?
mistycal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This happened to me all the time. I guess I never looked my weight or carried it well, but, I could not fit into any ride either. If 130lbs overweight isn't "that big", what is??? LOL! This too! I've had several family members or friends tell me "I didn't think you were big enough to have that surgery...." I was 120lbs over weight, I think people just get used to looking at you a certain way, and since I was fairly active I guess they didn't look at me as obese. -
What’s the Most Awkward Part of WLS?
mistycal replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sometimes my friends will exclaim how skinny I am now, and I still have about 40-45 to go, sometimes I like to watch the people around them looking for who their talking about lol -
Have you ever drank while you ate? 1+ year post-op
mistycal replied to AchieveGoals's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink a few sips occasionally while eating, just to rinse my mouth lol, but more than a sip and the liquid will come back up.... -
I brought a lot of stuff from lists I read on here... What I actually used was, a extension cord for my phone charger, toothbrush, clothes for the ride home and flip flops, my hair stayed in a bun the whole time..... I didn't experience gas but I did bring the gas x strips in case... My hospital had a movie network on there tv's so I just tried to rest.... But they come in so often it's impossible!

When did you have blood work done?
mistycal replied to plakbusta's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My gastro dr said they don't do labs until my 1 yr apt... My pcp found out that I was very anemic, so had labs done, I'm now on a iron supplement... I called my surgeons office to tell them the new meds my pcp has put me on and she then told me that I was almost anemic before my surgery.... I was kind of irritated why when they recommended iron after surgery that it was only the average dosage! I am now being my own advocate and asking for blood work from my pcp every couple months. -

Gallstone medication - reactions?
mistycal replied to ajg91342's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was prescribed ursidol also, I was told to take it for 3-4 months for prevention of gallstones. I'm 4 months out and haven't had any side effects I know of! So I'm not sure if the thinning hair is from this or the surgery!! -
When I left the hospital on my 2 day post-op I had that nausea patch behind my ear, and I was told that because I had touched it then my eyes after it had made my pupils really enlarged.

I use centrum multi, a lot of the other multi's don't contain iron.... And when I was checked at my pcp my iron levels were really low.... Almost enemic, which I never have been before.

Lol my surgeon said if I needed to loose about 20 lbs in a couple months for say a wedding it would be a great option!! Lol.... So that was the last I thought about that option!

Did anybody have their period at the time of surgery?
mistycal replied to AnaLaura85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also started the morning of my surgery, they will give you the mesh panties and a pad.... I wouldn't leave a tampon in or anything because during my surgery @ 11am they gave me a catheter and I didn't get up until that night around 9 to walk, the most annoying thing about being on my period was that they wanted to measure my urine and that was kinda gross, but they didn't care about the mess, and the nurses were helpful with the giant pads lol -
How Often Do You Weigh? + Update?
mistycal replied to Beck90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was weighing everyday! Once I hit 200 I've been weighing every couple days or once a week, because everyday seemed to disappoint me when I didn't lose and I'm way to excited to be down 46 lbs for that stupid scale to dictate my mood!!![emoji6] -
How many days post-op before the gas/bloating cleared up?
mistycal replied to Maggie Journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any gas pains so I can only talk about the bloating...I think it lasted about 2 weeks, but My surgery was on a Tuesday and went to a bday party on the sat after... So I was feeling back to normal a week out.... -
I had light bruising on 3 of my incisions, the middle 3. Mine went away in less than a week... Here's a post of someones pictures of their bruising. http://www.bariatricpal.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=58893

mistycal replied to FabFemale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been doing the light fairlife milk, light mayo, 100 cal Greek yogurts, reg cottage cheese and cheeses, and substituting plain Greek yogurt for sour cream. Just trying to cut out where I can without sacrificing taste! -
