You can always start out just walking on the treadmill or outside. I started out going to curves for a year, then I felt I need more, so I joined another gym (I call that one a real gym), and was there a year. I then got tired of the drive I had to do plus life was starting to get in the way. So my husband bought us a treadmill and elliptical. I switch off, but I really like jogging/running on the treadmill, that's when I decided that I want to run marathons one day. So you just need to find something that you like doing; dancing, swimming, walking. It's all up to you. Good job though on loosing so much with just diet alone, that's a accomplishment to be proud of. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thank for all of the advise about my annoying pain problems. Can anyone help me with the annoying plateau problem. I want to know if I keep going something will just finally give because I'm tired of waiting for "clearance to land", and I would really like to land in an area that I was once in before my port started leaking and I gained back 10 pounds, and had replacement surgery. I just want off the plateau marry-go-round. Some inches are changing but the weight is in the crapper. Yeah it's a mood.

My shoes are new about a month old. I was measured and everything. The shoes that I replaced were to small but I ran intervels in them all the time and never had pain like this, so maybe it's the shoes, but they are suppose to be the best running shoes...new balance 1063. They just keep telling me it's the muscle toning and changing. On the other hand I love how my stomach is starting to look from all this running.

I run a straight run for an hour then 30 minutes I walk and jog up hill 4-6 days a week. My problem is that I'm stuck in a plateau and it's making me crazy. I go up I go down, I'm circling waiting for clearance to land lol. I just don't know if I should continue and just keep praying that one day I broke the pattern. I also have a problem with my lower inside calf area being so sore, I don't know what or why. I have been told it's the muscle using the fat, building def, and bone density. All I know is that it hurts from the time I'm done running on the treadmill until I go to bed at night. When I wake up in the morning I feel fine then a little sore during the run, but by the time I'm almost done with the run I feel fine then it turns sore.
  5. pickles123, The port is the place that leaks that and the tube. With the port it is a self sealing material and if you stick a needle into it to many times then it will develop a slow leak because it won't seal all the way. That's what the doctor thought was my problem but it was the tube. Since I was there and he was there he just replaced the port and shortened the tube. My problem is very unique because I don't have a spleen and the big scar I have runs right where they have to place the port and tube. Well the scar tissue was pinching the tube because the tube was a little to long. That's what the doctor told me when I came to in recovery. Everything is fine now, and he even cleaned up the appearance of my really big scar from my spleen.
  6. restlessmonkey, I just mean that I catch a lot of hell from everyone at the clinic that I go to because I love my "DQ". The doctor thinks he's funny when he tells me that's what brought me to him in the beginning, and then I think he's probably right...but I still eat what I want when I want because I'm the only one that has to pay for it when the scale doesn't move that month.
  7. I didn't think I could do the 2 weeks of liquids again either, but then I thought of it like this if I had to it was just going to give me a jump start, and that I was getting a second chance to do better this time. I only say that because I have my moments when I eat things that shouldn't be ate ever again. I had some guilt moments thinking that it was my fault that the port broke...if I wouldn't have ate that or done that I wouldn't be broken now. So when I would go through those moments it was always better to look at it as a redo.
  8. Trish, I would go in get a fill be fine the couple of day after and then be back to eating everything i seen. I started gaining weight, 14 pounds to be exact, that's going away slower then it went on...of course. Getting a port or tube replaced is way easier then the full surgery. Nothing to eat after midnight the night before surgery, they go in where your port is and that's it. I went home right after I woke up in recovery, liquids for a couple of days then right back to food. Just take it slow on the types of food. My doctor filled my band during surgery to make sure the new port worked and that my band wasn't leaking. So since surgery almost 6 weeks ago have had great restriction, and I never had great restriction in the beginning, i would get a fill every month when I saw the doctor in the beginning. Hope that helps or at least answers some questions.

  10. It's been over a month since I had my port replaced and my tubing shortened. I'm back on track of loosing weight. When I first got the band my doctor was filling once a month every month up until the day I had replacement. I have seen the doctor since surgery and I have had the best restriction ever, and have no fills since the one that he did during surgery. I LOVE MY NEW PORT!!!

I know we all have goals, dreams, inspirations. I would just like to hear what some of those are for other people. I'm not talking about reaching the ultimate goal of loosing the weight, but the other stuff. Like I always wanted my belly button pierced...did that in May of this year. Now I want to run the Chicago Marathon in the year 2012. Why that year...because I will be 40, hopefully at my goal weight, out of school, and should just have life in order by then. So what is it that drives you?

  20. thank you everyone, to fill everyone in I got rid of the trainer. Not because she was complaining about how I ate, but because she told me I was fat and lazy. If I'm fat and lazy now my god what was I before. She was also like if you would have meet my before you done surgery you would have never needed to do that to yourself. I have been going at it on my own and the weight thing has stalled out for now. Thanks again to everyone.
  21. I have a silly question for anyone, everyone...are we all eating enough calories? The trainer I once had told me that I'm Not eating enough and that's why I'm not loosing weight. My husband and I think that I'm doing and eating just fine, so does the doctor. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been told that or thought that.

I'm 5'2" and wear a size 8. Having trouble finding jeans that fit at that size though, just had to purchase a size 11/12 now I have to buy a belt which I have never worn in all my life don't even know how to. The jeans drive me nuts also because they are low rise and I just feel like my junk is hanging out. I really like talking with you. You make me feel better about myself and the struggles I seem to be having. I now see that I'm not the only person with these problems and I'm not alone in any of this. It's also nice knowing that I'm not the only one who has turned into a scale whore. I was asked one time by someone to discribe what it's like to have lapband. I was like it's like having multiple eating disorders...you workout all the time, only eat a small amount, and sometimes have to throw it up. Would I do it all again? Well I guess I would since I don't need medication, and I did do it again to have my tubing and port replaced. That is the reason I can only do cardio right now I haven't been released for lifting or straining yet. Thanks for encouraging me.

My goal weight for myself is 140, but the doctor says NO that he wants me down to 125. Right now I'm struggling with the 156-154. I weigh myself every morning and yeah I know I should throw the scale out and stop, I'm so bad with the scale that I even weight myself before bed to see how much I ate and gained that way I can beat myself up before I fall asleep. Then of course if the scale isn't so nice in the morning that starts the mood for the day. I just can't seem to get my groove back for the whole program. I still workout like a mad woman and I think my body is changing, I thought that 2 months ago when I had to get weighted and measured well it changed alright wrong...she claimed I gained like 6 inches. I go next week for that fun again, and once again I think my body is changing...we'll see in which direction this time.

    Plateau

I don't need a fill what I was really looking for was a way to break this plateau. I need to hear how everyone broke out of this without having a fill, my restriction is fine and has been fine since my port replacement surgery on July 6 of this year. I do cardio 5-6 days a week can't do any lifting so weights are out of the question for now. I'm learning once again what I can and can't eat (what gets stuck and doesn't). I put 14 pounds back on before surgery, I have only lost 4 since surgery, but I struggle with the same 5-10 pounds. I feel like I'm loosing and then I get on the scale and I haven't moved. So I just need some help trying to break this cycle. Oh I also had a personal trainer at one point, I had to get rid of her after she told me that I was fat and lazy and that my diet sucks...she should have seen me before I had surgery.
