Hiatal hernia repair during sleeve
con con replied to ebella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only issue I had after my hernia repair was the extraordinary shoulder pain. That lasted a few weeks. Gl! -
Will anything ever taste good again?
con con replied to theladyslipper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 months out and nothing tastes good. It has just gotten worse for me, not better -
I'm the same way. Nothing tastes good. I could go all day and not eat. I force myself to get protein in. It has been this way since my surgery in September.

3 weeks Out, 1000 calories?
con con replied to Meechymom87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3.months out and I struggle to get 500-600 calories a day. Concentrating on protein first. It's still so difficult for me to consume more than that. Gl -
I could have received my dr assessment if I wanted it. But I didn't have a need. They need to do a pychological evaluation for the surgeon and insurance purposes.

Carbonated Beverages after Gastric Sleeve

I miss my Coke Zero but 3 months out I couldn't consume two sips of it. It's not uncomfortable for you? I would try to tittrate yourself off of it. -
I had my dr visit today, 3 months post op. I was wondering if others had blood work up done at this stage? He just talked to me and said I was on target and I made another appointment 3 months out. I thought he might do blood work to see how my values were. Thanks for any input

Sadly nothing helped me. It lasted for over a week. Sorry you are experiencing it.

What is a good gummy multi?
con con replied to Tashina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told chewable vitamins are better for us vs gummy. Flinstones is what my dr. said. I'm three months out and taking a liquid vitamin now -
How many if you lost weight during preop?
con con replied to baileyj908's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was required to lose 10%. I was approved in a few days and surgery was schedule 2 weeks out. I lost 22lb in that timeframe on a liquid diet. They want the fat around your liver to decrease for a successful operation. Gl -
My surgeon told me of one of his patients that started smoking again once she was released from the hospital. Her surgical staples snapped!!

One thing you wished you knew before surgery
con con replied to Scottyd1264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I knew how truly taxing this surgery was and how long it took to gain your energy back. Also I wish I knew there was a definite possibility your taste buds would dramatically change to the extent to now have a true distaste for foods. Reading about symptomology is vastly different from real life. -
Hellcat. I had horrible shoulder pain. It was from the hernia repair and lasted a week.

I had shoulder pain. It was from the hernia repair. It lasted 8 days.

Odd water is the only thing I can tolerate a month out. All food tastes horrible to me. I literally have to force protein consumption. Gl I hope it gets better for you.

Hi sept16 was my surgery date. Would prefer to stay away from social media so the app sounds good. Let me know

I had an upper GI this week. He said there was some debris but that wasn't mentioned on the printout. He told me to smash alca server plus take a small cup full then shoot it back with water. This opens up the areas and I can actually eat soft foods and keep it down. I've only had one vomitting incident but I believe that was because I didn't wait the hour and half down time after eating. So all in all I'm not vomitting as much and I will see how long I engage in the alca seltzer routine.

I've been having a horrible time of it for the past 4 days. Vomitting multiple times a day. The Dr. said it was esophagus spasms. I'm almost 3 weeks from my surgery. And I'm not feeling that well. My body is weak and I'm exhausted. Im hoping to go back to work tomorrow. But right now that seems unattainable. Im trying to keep myself hydrated. I've had a protein shake all day. And will force myself to get some protein for dinner. Im concerned with all the vomitting I might do damage to the staples. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be feeling back to norm at almost the 3rd week mark? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

My Doctor had a patient that started smoking after sleeve. Her staples leaked immediately and had to go back into the hospital.

My hospital stay was 2 days. I'm stunned to see some members went home the same day. It's important to have your vitals checked and pain managed

My surgeon removed the gas from inside me so I didn't have that issue. However I did buy gas x strips and took those for a week when I was home. I didn't need a robe I just walked around in my hospital wrap. I did however bring leggings and warm thick socks. I brought a pillow from home for twofold. Just to be comfy but also used it in the ride to protect the opening on my tummy. So the seatbelt wouldn't rub against it. Honestly I brought way too many things that I didn't use. I did have baby wipes to feel fresh. I didn't take a shower. You will be fine. I won't miss the 3am blood draws or 2am bp and just remember to have your door closed. To keep out all the noise etc. Gl!

How many if you lost weight during preop?
con con replied to baileyj908's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had 2.5 weeks from when I was approved until surgery. I lost 15 lb in that time. 2 protein shakes a day and one lean cuisine at night. Of course not my fav lean cuisine. Ones with chicken or fish limiting carbs.
