Dramatically Cutting Calories Will Cost You
Jill_S replied to Teresita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
*nodnod* It's true, even though some folks don't believe it. If I'm under 800 calories for more than a day - weight loss stops - and stays stopped for a few days of eating normally (900-1100 a day). This is another reason I watch my calories. I don't like causing myself to stall out. 900-1100 is the range that I lose the best at right now. It took me 8 weeks to find that range through trial and error, but since I set myself there, I've lost consistently every day. -
I count calories mainly because keeping a food journal is what helps me identify problems in my behavior, and it allows me to make better choices. I have a fill. I don't think I *could* eat more than 1600 calories in a day -- if --- I was eating healthy. If I was eating crap, well, sure I could. So could anyone. Everyone does what works best for them. And if something doesn't work for them, I'd hope they'd look for something new. Watching in Excel what I eat - how many calories, how many I burn off with exercise, etc - keeps me motivated, especially when I'm watching the pounds melt off.

When Junior shot Tony, my heart soared - not cause he shot Tony, but because they finally gave Junior something to do besides be sick and nuts! And I'm with ya. I don't remember Janice being pregnant, but...well, there it is. She's nuts too. I love her. When I first saw Adrianna standing there I thought...oh....wait...yes! Then...she faded I really liked that charecter. She was completely obnoxious, but she stood out.

It's in my sig Don't ask me to spell it again - once was hard enough

Since my fill in January, I can't eat bread either. I managed 2 bites of toast yesterday at my Mom's but even then - wow - ick - ow. At dinner time, if I get a hankerin' for bread to go with my dinner, I'll toss 5-10 fat free croutons on my plate. 30-60 calories. I dip them in whatever sauce I'm using, and they fill that bread craving for me just fine.

And to all you folks with the cold weather and snow.... It was 65 in Madison yesterday - we not only took your warmth, but it melted all our snow (FINALLY!) so - sorry, but we needed it!

*nodnod* And it's very hard for a born-and-raised Iowa Corn Fed Beef girl I've had beef 3 times since I got filled in on 1/17. Not only because of the calories, but because it doesn't go down so well now. I miss my beef

Pls compare Lap Band surgery with Gall Bladder surgery
Jill_S replied to JillN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my gallbladder out in 91, the old fashioned way - 6 week recovery. So the band was much easier -
Daily goals huh. Hm. Today, I will only have 2 cups of coffee instead of 4. Today, I will eat a better lunch than yogurt. Tonight, I will clean my computer room so I can see the floor again! This weekend, I will go fill my dad's truck and my mom's car up with gas (dad had a hip restructure 2 weeks ago, and is homebound. My mom doesn't know how to gas!!!) This weekend, I will clean out the trashmobile...errr...my pretty red car.

Exactly! Hello, fellow geek!
-
Typically I end up with 600-800 net calories for the day. I eat up to 1200 and exercise off about 600 a night (when my knee isn't hurting).

I know it can be tough to watch people's weights go down when yours is stuck, or watch their sizes go while you're still wearing your "fat pants". Something occured to me the other day - that it might help to see what others "fit" like - at your weight and size. For example: I am 5'9" tall, weigh 246.6 (still! argh), and am wearing size 20 jeans that are neither tight nor loose. My blouses and sweaters are 20/22. I wear a 40DD bra. Someone else at 246.6 pounds, who is maybe shorter by several inches, would more than likely be wearing bigger sizes still, and might be discouraged by that. So, if you'd like to - aid your fellow bandsters by contributing to the Perspective, so we can all know we're right where we're supposed to be, and keep our discouragement down and our spirits up!

Husbands are evil that way. Mine got me addicted too :/ I still have EQ and Warcraft. Don't play either very often, but I keep them both active

Your body has to catch up to your loss, P'nut. It makes perfect sense, when you think about it: "Feel fatter, like gained weight, or at least not lost" = scale moves. "*feel* like lost a lot." = scale doesn't move. Sometimes, the body doesn't catch up to the scale quickly. I know for me, once I'd lost 17.5 pounds after my fill in January, I wasn't really feeling different, but the minute I started to *feel* different, the scale stopped - and it was my body catching up. Reading that over, it doesn't sound like it makes sense. But it does! Okay, here. Fill your car up with gas. Doesn't it always seem like the first half of the tank (from 1/2 tank to full) lasts longer than the last half of the tank? You feel like you could drive 400 miles on the first half, and only 200 on the second half. In reality, you're getting the same mph (provided you're driving the same roads) out of the first half as you are the second half, but the gauge reads differently. The scale is your gauge, and your weight is the gas, and the mph is your weightloss. Same mph, same amount of gas in both halfs - it just takes the gauge awhile to register when it's more full. Yea, that's a horrible metaphor for it, but it's all I got

I know this wouldn't fit DeLarla (I don't think) but in my closet I have a size 22(I think) beaded black evening gown, never worn. I bought it for the Submarine Ball in Virginia a few years ago, but hub's boat was out, so we didn't get to go :cry I'd be willing to ship it to someone for the cost of the shipping(warning - it's heavy!) if they'd like to have it - provided they pass it on to someone else when it becomes too big for them. I'll try and take a picture of it later today.

I had to chuckle when I read this. I currently eat in my living room (who wants to sit at a table alone? blech), and if I'm eating chicken (which has caused many problems for me in the past), I always have one of those little ziploc containers with a lid on the table with me, just in case. I started doing that after I couldn't get up off the couch fast enough. Honestly, you do *not* want to have to clean the slime off your clothes, floor or furniture later.

You can get Biotin in the vitamin section of nearly any drug or discount chain. I'm currently taking capsules, but it comes in crushable pills as well.

I took Ativan years ago, at night, when I was on Zoloft. It was a nice peaceful sleepy kinda med. I'll admit there are days I could use it now

The Centrum chewables are okay - that's what I take. I don't care for the taste, and chewing them for me is something akin to eating a sweet tart, which I don't like, so sometimes I put it in my mouth with Water and let it half dissolve before I chew, then swallow it quick. My Biotin is in capsule form, as well as my tylenol, and I have no issues taking either.

I am not a fan of veggies either. Green Beans and cooked carrots is about all I can manage. I don't even like salad, and I know I'm in a small percentage with that. I just take my Vitamins and eat relatively healthy. I'm not going to force something down that doesn't taste good.

I got my motivation yesterday. I want to lose 26.4 pounds by May 13th. My oldest step-daughter is getting married in California  And I must look awesome to shove it up my ex's nose
