Oct 19th 2015 sleevers check in. how ya doing?
RyansGirl89 replied to BairwithMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I am taking my b12. The weird thing is that about 2 weeks post on, I got a sore on the side of my lip and my lips were burning badly for about a week and a half and I did a search on Google and read that it could be from a b12 deficiency and I realized that I had been forgetting to take my b12 because it had to be refrigerated so now I take it religiously. I agree with you that food is not fun right now. The worst thing for me is that I get full very fast and hungry just as quickly. It seems like everything I do is centered on food and it wasn't that way before. Don't get me wrong, I do not regret this surgery especially if it really helps me lose all the weight I want but it is definitely a huge huge thing to get adjusted to. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who feels this way because sometimes I read these posts and it seems like everyone is loving their new tummy and having tons of energy etc.. Etc.. Lol but I know that just an aspect of my self doubt feeling like I am different than everyone and that this is not going to work for me like it does for others. I don't know if that made any sense at all but sometimes I have self defeating thoughts lol and it is nice to find out that I am right about where everyone else who had their surgery near my date is. Yea as far as the protein shakes only like the isopure low carb 100% whey Dutch chocolate with 2% milk. I should probably try some others because I get so icky by the end of the shake and it is not getting better. I thought maybe it would get better if I tried drinking slower or not as much but it just isn't. I haven't really eaten anything else that has bothered me but I stick to mainly chicken, meatloaf, cheese, lots of eggs, and soups so far -
I had a bunch of mistakes in my last post but my app won't let me edit.. Ugh

I'm not going to speculate about that woman's intentions or why your husband didn't back you up because I have just a small window into yall's lives. However, I will say that as you get thinner and more confident, I bet the tables or booths will turn and she is going to get more insecure and leave feeling the way you did. There will be a price to be paid for any mistreatment I imagine and I think they'll both pay it on one way or another. I'm just speculating and I may be wrong.

I agree totally with you on my eyes are bigger than my stomach and with missing crunchy foods. I am still eating far too fast and regretting it later. One of the weird things that is happening is that when I drink my protein shake, I get sick towards the end of it everything and I usually have to lie down for 30 min just to get my bearings back. I bought a recumbent bike and have been riding it as much as possible although I still don't have the energy I used to and I hope that returns. -
I'm bummed, y'all. So bummed.

Before I had my surgery, I didn't really see the need for the psychological evaluation. However, after having the surgery, I do realize that this is very seriously a mental exercise - we have to change almost everything we ever knew about eating. It is harder than most of us ever expected and I get the whole point of making sure we have support in place for the time at which the food crutch is removed. Your counselor may be hypersensitive about your case but just try to make the best of it and get all the benefit you can. I hope they don't delay you too long. -
Pre-op bingeing
RyansGirl89 replied to shapingsamantha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think when we are preparing for wls, we start obsessing on food more than usual. There is a part of us that believes after wls we will never be able to eat good foods again (even though that is not true) and therefor we want to have the experience one last time so to speak....i also eat when I am nervous and before I had my surgery, I was extremely nervous about whether or not insurance was going to delay it, the pre-op diet and all the other hoops we had to jump thru... I don't know those are some of my theories. -

I am doing well but I do have issues with being hungry very quickly after eating even though I can't eat much. It is almost as though I am going from desperately full to desperately hungry. I am getting all my fluids and proteins and have lost 20 lbs since I started. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or not but it is a little frustrating. I don't regret the surgery at all I am just trying to get used to my new appetite. -
Drainage amount after surgery
RyansGirl89 replied to bhopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a tube. It sounds awful. I think it is always best to contact your Dr if you have any issues. It is best to be safe than sorry. -
Well I would assume that anyone who needed wls had some sort of food addiction or they wouldn't have needed surgery-right? Unless they're immobile due to a handicapped or something I can't imagine that obesity came from anything other than a FOOD addiction... Not judging just saying Oops handicap not handicapped

Wow... Some anger here on this topic... It is amazing how mad people get over other people's choices. I don't smoke but I certainly am not going to be rude to anyone especially since I have a food addiction just like everyone else here. Wouldn't that make me a hypocrit?

Left abdominal pain & stomach little swollen help
RyansGirl89 replied to Saeed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon knew that I had not had a bowel movement for a week prior. I don't think that is alarming. However, I do believe that his wife must get in to see the Dr as soon as possible. -

Yea I hate when my bariatric doctor treats me badly because I am obese... Hmm... II just know my skinny sister would get a more favorable reaction from him, especially since he can make no money from her. -

Smoking with Surgery
RyansGirl89 replied to refocus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone looking to quit smoking can quit Vaping. Yes, it is important to buy a quality vape from a vape store and get the clerk to show you about how to add oil or put in new itemizer etc.. I spent about 100 to get started and it only cost me an average of dollars a week to vape that is amazing. I also suggest a back up vape and holder to keep it around neck so as not to lose it. Start at a nicotine level equivalent with amount you smoke and step down to lower nicotine levels each month or faster if you can handle it. I did it slowly so I didn't suffer but others stepped down fast. I prefer regular cigarette flavor as opposed to sweet flavored juices because it made it feel more like a cig to me and eventually was down to 0 level.... Any smoker can do it.. The first 3 days quitting from the regular cig is slightly edgy but not bad. Oops I only spent 5 dollars a week on Vaping -
Smoking with Surgery
RyansGirl89 replied to refocus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so grateful that Vaping helped me get off of cigarettes too. Went from 24 mg of nicotine down to 0 and it was easy peezy...i had tries Chantix, lozenges, gum, patches, hypnotism and cold turkey with little success until Vaping. The cigarette companies send out reports all the time on dangers of Vaping but as far as I am concerned, it was the best thing I ever did besides the surgery I'm about to do. -

I've got my Date Oct. 19, Anyone close to that?
RyansGirl89 replied to Trisha213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow for me as well. Omg I am making list after list hoping I don't forget! I hate the clear liquids I miss my chocolate shake for breakfast. I also forgot to measure myself so I need to do that today. They want me there at 5am and I live an hour away so I don't anticipate sleep at all. Good luck everyone, here we go.... -
Seal, I wish you the best it is hard to get everything organized before surgery and get emotionally ready. Just hang in there, and remember you can do this.. You may be cranky but you will be fine.

Quit smoking but is vape ok?
RyansGirl89 replied to Leesa926's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank God for Vaping, it helped me quit cigarettes as well and as for the people who think Vaping is harmful, I can attest that my skin and lungs improved by leaps and bounds once I switched. My sister is a Dr and she said that there are no credible studies yet that prove that Vaping is just as harmful. Of course nicotine is not food for you but Vaping does not have all the tars and other carcinogens so it is far better. The cigarette companies are leading the studies that proclaim Vaping is worse than smoking because people are finally finding a way to kick those cigarettes and step down off the nicotine. I do think people should eventually step down their levels but I sing from the mountains about my gratefulness to Vaping for ending a cigarette habit I never could find a way to beat until now. -
OMG how in the hell do people drink this?!?
