  1. When is your December 2015 surgery date for RNY/Gastric Bypass? I'm scheduled for 2 December 2015 in Brugge, Belgium
  2. @@cocoa8utter - Keep an eye on what you're going through and write it down in a journal so you can remember things you might forget, if you need to talk to your medical team. Are you getting enough Protein and Water? I know I'm always asking that, but it's the first thing that comes to mind all the time above all else. @@James Marusek brings up a great point on meds adjustments. @@Daniellewi - I had severe pain for about 20 minutes when I ate too fast. Although I chewed well, my bites were still too big (it was just eggplant BUT it had some breadcrumbs on the outside) and I ended up vomiting, but not from dumping. Still no dumping thankfully (but not thankfully - you know!) It was a weird experience. I've been doing amazingly well with protein, with only yesterday missing my mark by 12 grams because I was careless and didn't check my food log before getting ready for bed (where I could have had a small Protein shake and met my goal...) At first I relied heavily on Protein shakes, sometimes one shake with 2 scoops of powder instead of 1. I've been working hard at trying to not rely on shakes, or only having 1 a day rather than each meal. It's really difficult right now, being on soft food stage and getting sick of foods but not having much of a choice in food either. On 1/1/16 I can go to solid foods, but will still use a lot of soft foods. (My intention, anyhow!) You might have to drink more shakes in the time-being until you can get more foods in. A lot of times I have to force myself to eat something and I don't have any appetite either, so it's been a struggle, but a manageable one. You can do it!
  3. I sent you a message You came home after only 1 night in the hospital too?! How are you doing these days? Still on puree or on to soft foods?
  4. @@ShrinkingButtercup - Great job on getting your protein and water in! You only had one night in the hospital?! I'm glad you're doing well!
  5. @@ashleyt226 I'm sending you a PM in a few minutes
  6. Decembelles, Do you have your packing list ready?! Share!
  7. Hey Decembelles! (No guys in this group as of today, and it has a nice ring to it - no pun intended!) Do you blog or post videos online about your experience? I thought it might be nice to share them here in one place. I blog on wordpress: http://getkirstybodied.wordpress.com

@@cocoa8utter Thanks! Good luck TODAY with your surgery! I hope you have a great recovery so you can go back to work in 2 weeks. That seems so short to me!
  10. @@thatcaniacgirl - Awesome!!!!!!
  11. @@ShrinkingButtercup It's COMPLETELY normal, what you're feeling about surgery. How are you doing these days?

  14. @@cocoa8utter I had a "food funeral" for about a month and a half but amazingly I didn't gain or lose weight. I think it's because I kind of starved myself and binged on all the sh** I knew I'd miss. Horrible pattern, I know, but it's over now!!! @@DeezJeanz Best wishes on your surgery today!!!!!!!!! I hope you have good pain meds and get some great rest! Don't forget to walk when they allow you to.
  15. @@cocoa8utter Welcome! What a great Christmas present @ I hope you get the decision soon!! The anticipation is the worst. @@cookarue I got permission to eat some at Thanksgiving during my liquid pre-op, but it's a slippery slope for me and I ate the next day and a bit the next... Really bad - I have poor self control with food but yesterday and today have been Clear liquids and I've been good. Ready for surgery tomorrow!
  16. If anyone is interested, there is a December 2015 support group on Facebook. I'm not the founder or an admin, but we have a great group of people right now. The group is "closed" or maybe "secret" but just message me here and I'll send you the link if you like.
  17. @@mbreutter28 Welcome! Excited or nervous? @@DeezJeanz I probably missed that tidbit of info, not you! I'm glad you're able to get the best procedure now!

  19. @DeezJeanz Dee Dee, is it too late to request the RNY? I've read a lot of people with sleeve end up changing to RNY as a revision because of reflux with the sleeve - it would be a big concern, and is one of the reasons I chose RNY even though the sleeve would have made more sense with my current starting weight etc... Thoughts? Kirsten
  20. Hi Dee Dee, welcome Of course you're welcome here! I'm a bit late on my replies this week. So this isn't your first rodeo - it's good you know what to expect! Is there anything you would have done differently your first time that you might do this time? I hope RNY takes care of what the sleeve didn't do for you and that you have great results from it. Congrats on your first loss too!
  21. This pre-op diet is really hard and I felt quite weak from the afternoon of day 3 to about the middle of day 5. Luckily my nut said it was okay that I eat a Thanksgiving dinner. I splurged a bit, although I (dumb of me) didn't eat all day. I still think I maintained a lot of composure considering I ate only half of what I put on my plate for green bean casserole - and that took up half of my large oval paper plate.... lol.... Bad.. but I didn't jack it all up too badly! I'm nervous about the thought of blood clots and other things, but I push those thoughts out of my head. It's good you're trying to find a bright side to this stage, I have heard it is the hardest stage for a lot of people. You should drop some weight during this, if you're all liquid anyhow.
  22. Hello mavalos2, I use Shakeology for normal shakes, and usually add PB2 and just use Water. For extra protein I add a scoop of unflavored Isopure. You can add it to a lot of different things and it's a sort of neutral flavor, but does have some aftertaste. I don't recommend the premixed Isopure drinks unless you add something for that after taste. It's disgusting.
  23. Hi mavalos2 and rblakely63, welcome! I'm on day 5 of my 14 day pre-op protein diet. Somehow it turned into a LIQUID protein diet. I don't know when or how, but it did. Days 1 and 2 were pretty easy, but the late end of day 3 through today (day 5) have been off the tracks bad. Most likely because it is the weekend, aka: my weakest spot. Tomorrow's a new day!
  24. Tomorrow starts day 1 of liquid pre-op!! I'M FREAKING OUT, MAN!!
  25. When I booked my surg date I forgot all about the holidays lol! My pre-op diet is about the same as yours as far as what I can eat. It's good that you'll be continuously busy. WTG on already making good changes!
