  1. Thank you sooo much for the reassurance and taking the time to write such a lovely post. It is so reassuring to hear back. Especially being so close. Every time I get a chime that I have a Bariatric post to check out my heart leaps and I’m encouraged I will keep you posted. Congratulations on your surgery dear and sending you health blessings and love on your weight loss journey
  2. Hello all, I'm going in for a Sleeve to Bypass revision in a few days. Dr. Alexander will perform the surgery at Pine Creek Medical Center in Dallas. Wondering if there are any other patients of his on here
  3. Thank you all for the tips and accounts and especially specific medication suggestions and non medical relief like Lavender. I know I just have to power through it, somehow. I just want this to be over already. Super antsy...4 more days....ugh my stomach just turns with anticipation and dread. Praying through the fears.

    August bypassers/sleevers

Never had @bubula but then again I don’t do caffeine and only have 2 day pre op diet. 1. Mushie and 2. Liquid with bowl prep. These things are so different... go figure :/ all LL I can think is good thing you are withdrawing now and not cold turkey post surgery

@TaylorMade4One hang in there dear. Did you have Sleeve or Bypass? Maybe talk to your surgeon about this. In both cases there should be some relief from hunger in the first few weeks. So sorry you are experiencing this
  12. I’m a Sleeve to bypass but I regained it all due to a malformed sleeve to begin with. Yes info is so hard to come by. I e been combing the net trying to find good studies. What I have read does suggest you get one shot at fooling your body. But that’s just one study. and I don’t know if it’s different when you vrs try to continue looking. Keep me posted if you find anything. I go in aug 22nd!
  13. @Ninarwiener thank you so much for your words of encouragement and empathy. And a huge congratulations on your surgery. So sorry you are having a rough time. But are you seeing good results or do you have regrets? For me, seeing the pounds slip off really helped through the yucky post surgical period after my sleeve. Looking forward to hearing about your progress!!
  14. @CrankyMagpie wow! You are so dedicated, but I’m super frustrated for you. I’m sure your doc has his/her reasonings but...men it sounds like such a slow painful process, especially when you seem so ready to go from a research, mental and physical perspective. It took me forever to qualify for my first Band surgery. 2 years, denials, appeals etc, my Sleeve was a breeze (had to have overturned port revised and gallbladder removed along with it), and this revision to Bypass was a breeze approval that took 1 week because my Sleeve was malformed as an Hourglass to begin with, I have a Haitian hernia , a structure and oh yeah, I regained all weight lost via Sleeve...
  15. @CrankyMagpie thanks for the tip! I e got a ton of lavender in all forms! I’m so taking it now that you said this!! Best of Luck to you dear, what is your date?
  16. Bumping up this topic, I’m interested too...
  17. Hi @ttjmom. It’s a long story. Sleeve has been awesome for many, just not for me. If you care to read it, here you go... 3rd Bariatric Surgery: I realize that most people will probably gloss over this topic...because for most 1 surgery works and is enough and if you fall into this category, please know how fortunate you are. This is not my story I am 5'8. In 2007 I was 273lb's and miserable! I got a Band. Following 13 fills and unfills the best I lost was 60lb's, I never achieved restriction, and unfilled to have 2 kids. All weight returned. In an unrelated accident my port flipped, and in 2015 at 265lb's I was revised to a Gastric Sleeve (Also had my gallbladder taken out, a Haital hernia repaired and the band removed). I lost 60lb's in the first 4 months and then...stopped loosing. At 205lb's I would have been happy with my results, but then, I felt no restriction and started to regain! Fast forward almost 3 years to today...I have developed GERD pretty bad and I've regained most of what I lost back! My stomach feels hungry every hour or two, I could always eat WAY more than my sleeved friends, and once I got myself full, it would not take long for the deep primal hunger to return. I have no relief from hunger. Especially at night, I'm ravenous! I became a grazer! I felt that the Ghrelin was back with an Army to fight me! A 80% international traveling job plus unlimited access to food in the best restaurants around the globe did not help. I have felt dejected, humiliated, like a failure, angry, frustrated and the list goes on for miles, if you are still reading, you probably know how I feel. And indeed, It's not just about how I look...it's about how I feel. Horrible!! My weight is pressing, intrusive and pervasive. There is no time that I am not aware of it. I have sleep Apnea, I can't keep up with my 6 and 7 year old's and the simple things in life are hard again. Completely demoralizing... After almost 3 years, I finally said "Enough" and went back to a new Surgeon. An Endoscopy revealed it has not all been my fault. My Sleeve was cut too big to begin with! My new surgeon reveled he knows the work of the previous surgeon who apparently was not very skilled at the time and making sleeves too big to be successful. A Bougie 42 was was too big to begin with but in my case, even that was very loosely cut. To top it off, my Sleeve was mis-shapen to begin with as well, setting me up for failure and I have a Stricture in the middle, causing me to have an Hourglass shape. Top fills up, stretches, bottom is hungry, then food goes to the bottom and is still there, top is hungry, in short...a hot mess! Miraculously given the Haital Hernia, GERD, Stricture and botched initial surgery, my insurance (that does not cover Bariatrics) has approved a revision to Bypass on Aug 22nd. I've been combing the internet for Sleeve to RNY revision but such information is not as readily available as 1st timers. I am so nervous...so frightened to go through with this. Scared of Anesthesia, scared how I would do, scared of the 3 week post op liquid only phase. Scared that I will fail again, that this will not work. Some Surgeons (like the Pound of Cure guy say you can only expect to loose 10 - 25lbs on a Sleeve to RNY revision, woa?? ) But I have to try...I want to live a full and vibrant life and not just exist like an Amoeba! This is truly Project last chance. My husband is supportive, but my friends, judgmental and not supportive. and if ever I needed some advice, encouragement, support etc...it's now... Nervous but cautiously hopeful, and very much in need of your support... Ellie
  18. Been there, I feel you all! I am your Band to Sleeve (regained all 70lb’s list) to bypass on Aug 22nd girl. Looking for support as well

    August bypassers/sleevers

August 22nd! Sleeve to RNY revision and looking for some buddies :))
  20. Hi! I’m new to this thread. It seems like such a fun group! Wish I had joined it earlier! My date is Aug 22nd!! Coming up fast!!! I’m a Sleeve to RNY revision. Long story... but was wondering if there are any others the week if Aug 21st? Could really use the support...
  21. Gosh @3nuthut I had no idea they were cutting back post surgically!! Goodness, if you can’t get them when you’ve been sliced and diced then when can you get them?? What facility was this at? Really hope the pain levels drop for you and that the rest of your healing is smooth. So sorry you had to go through that! Judy seems wrong...
  22. Oh wow @KCgirl061 ! Thank you for the response. A surgical nurse! That’s awesome. I guess you kind of knew the best and worst of what to expect, but sounds like it was rough though. I do have a question though ... what’s a tornado? Something that takes you to Oz?
  23. Thanks @GreenTealael. Indeed prayer is my big strategy now. So proud of all your weight loss though. WOW! Amazing! So glad this worked so well for you!
  24. Oh wow... @SusieSouth so glad you are processing so well, anc very excited you are on the healing end of things and your pain is managed. How cool is that!! I was wondering...are you saying you can drink more and feel less restriction? Just trying to understand what you meant by “pace myself better”? When I woke from Sleeve I remember feeling like there was a giant hole where my torso is. A beautiful and welcome relief from the mind-stomach connection and zero hunger . It was SUCH a relief! Sadly it did not last any other Sleeve vrs Bypass differences you are noticing? I thought bypass was restrictive??
