I'm in AZ. Submitted for auth on friday. Anyone have experience with them? I've heard both good and bad things. I'm wondering how quick the turn around will be.

Just in case anyone searches in the future, the doctors office submitted on the October 5th, and I had a response by the 20th. Approved! Scheduled for 11/9

Clear liquid diet - found my holy grail protein!
kinkymoo posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my Clear liquids last week and I'm only allowed to mix Protein powders with Water. I've already done Premier Protein and feel kinda burnt out on it. I tried my current protein powders. There's something about watery chocolate that makes me feel ill. I couldn't even finish a whole shake. I ordered Syntrax nectar fuzzy navel - peach and orange. It mixes wonderfully and goes down just like a glass of OJ. Taste ain't too bad either. I just wanted to share this in case anyone else has the same problem. It has made the last week so much more tolerable. I will definitely keep it in regular rotation after my surgery on 11/9 -

Vitacost.com their shipping is super fast too, and they are far cheaper than amazon. I've only ordered from them a couple of times, but they have my business so long as syntrax stays cheap! -
There ya go! This is what I would choose. It's important to know that a sleep specialist will still set a range for the machine to vary between. So just make sure they set the lower value as low as they can. 5 is the lowest they can go and still justify the machine. You still need a new study every 3-4 years, and defo get one done when you reach your goal to see if you need it or not.

Not true at all. All BIPAP does is give you a higher pressure when you breathe in and a lower pressure when you breathe out. It's not a self titrating machine, and you absolutely need to go back for sleep studies as you lose weight, to make sure you're on the right pressure or risk causing central sleep apnea. They do have AUTO PAP machines that do their best to find the right level for you but they are not as accurate as having a sleep study set level. However, it is worth having a discussion with a sleep specialist about it if you have undergoing WLS, because you will need regular adjustments. As for how to know if you still need the CPAP, the ONLY way to know is to have a sleep study done without the CPAP on. You have no idea what happens when you're asleep, so please leave it to the professionals. See your doctor!

As a sleep tech, if you sleep in a recliner with a nasal mask you're probably gonna oral breathe. Gravity is against you. Also, keep a check on your pressures, they will need to be adjusted as you lose weight. You can get a chin strap to help with the nasal masks if you don't want to change masks. You can buy them from amazon.

AZ, November 9th, checking in! I work nights, and will be working on the 8th, going home to change, shower, drop off my car, then heading to the hospital. I'm excited, but this liquid only diet is rough!

This scares me. I have super fine and thin hair already. You can see my scalp because theres not a lot there. I worry I'm gonna end up bald I'm hoping and praying I'm one of the lucky few. I wonder what causes it.
