  1. I walk 5-6 days a week. It's only 1.5 miles, but it all adds up. I'm going to start adding little jogs in between the walking, with the aim of being able to job the whole thing eventually.

    Alcohol?

I was sleeved 11/9, and had a couple of glasses of white wine on new years. I drink only once or twice a year.
  3. I suck at meds, and often have to make the choice between vitamins or reflux meds because of the way they interact. I feel totally fine without them, so I wonder if there will be any detrimental effect by not taking them? I was sleeved 11/9. I had some reflux to begin with, but that seems to have calmed down as I healed.
  4. Thanks for all the responses. My doctor prescribes them for 1 year, but it seems a little....excessive. I seem to be doing better without them than I do with them.
  5. I hate it all too. We're twinsies. I get mopey and petulant about it. I drag my feet, and I think runners high is a goddamn myth. It hurts everything. My back, my head, my chest, all my muscles, and DOMS are not a good feeling. I hate walking around hurting all the time. It fucks up my sleep, it makes me miserable, very cranky, and often hungry too. But I also want an ass you can bounce a quarter off.....so squats it is!!
  6. I work nights and my surgeon is only available on days I work, so I need the earliest appointment. After him not showing and seeing a lady doctor I don't like twice, I've transferred followup to my PCP. I did my medically supervised weightloss with him, and we have a great raport. He respects my knowledge about the process and is willing to listen to my issues and help resolve them.
  7. I was taking Omeprazole, now I take pantoprazole. My surgeon never shows up to my appointments and I've seen a lady doctor I don't like. She said it was because I wasn't eating enough Protein at Breakfast. I knew she was full of shit, but i tried it anyway, and it didn't help. I went to my PCP who I love, and he switched out my PPI. Seems to have helped a little, but not a lot. Been trying those new alca seltzer chewables of Calcium carbonate and simethicone (gas-x active ingredient). Nothing seems to get rid of it. It seems to be worse when my stomach is empty. I woke up with it today.
  8. I've had heartburn before. Not often, but I know what it feels like. I have been experiencing mild discomfort in my stomach for the past month (I'm 2m post op). At first I thought it was hunger because that's what it felt like, it most often occurs when my stomach is empty and it was removed by eating. But now I'm wondering if acid reflux just feels different, or if I have a problem with gas in my stomach, because sometimes burping helps. I've been trying to be a little more regular with my gas x strips, and I've started throwing in the occasional heartburn med ontop of the PPI my doctor gave me. It's still there. Not all the time, but I can't seem to get rid of it. Can anyone chime in?
  9. I know a lot of people confuse hunger for acid reflux, but I think this is the genuine thing. I take prilosec twice a day. The hunger doesn't feel exactly the same as before, it's not as uncomfortable as hunger pains used to be, or as often. My tummy doesn't really rumble either. It kinda feels like it's about to, then it doesn't. Eating makes it go away. I'm only a month out and I'm kinda disappointed that I do feel hungry. I thought this wasn't supposed to hit me for about a year! If I'm one of the unlucky few that does feel hunger already, how can I expect my experience of the sleeve to change after the year? Will I get more hungry, or does it stay about the same?

    3.5 months out knowledge

We're opposites. I had constipation after surgery. I had little to no gas pain. Only the burps when i eat/drink. I started sleeping on my stomach on day 4 post op. I used a body pillow and it helped support everything. And nothing tastes any different so far. So essentially your milage may vary.

    Non chewable vitamins

To piggy back on this, I had the celebrate chewables, and I ended up not taking my multivitamins because I hate the taste and cannot stand to take them. I ordered procare chewable, but they've been on backorder for ages. I swallowed a tablet the other day. It went down just fine. It has one of the dissolvable casings, and it got me to thinking about the best way to take them. If fluids pass through quickly, and im taking omeprazole, is that enough to get the casing to disolve in my stomach in time? Are there any rules to taking them?
  12. I was on full liquids day after the surgery. I hated everything they gave me in hospital! The pudding was flavourless, cream of wheat I sent back with the person that brought it in. Even the protein shakes were naaasty. The only thing could manage was cream soup. I was glad to get home.
  13. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I went to a kids party yesterday, with bbq foods and candy/cookies galore. Twas quite miserable as I wanted a bite of it all. I was good though. I'm only a week out.

    Surgery Nov 9th

My doc said no less than every 3 days. Pain killers will mess with that, so I only take those if I really need them. Take sugar free milk of magnesia to help. I didn't have a bm for a few days after surgery. The MoM broke the seal.

    Surgery Nov 9th

I think I'm doing ok. Having difficulty getting everything I need down, yet I have my appetite back already. I'm only taking painkillers occasionally, and if I'm careful I can sleep on my side or stomach at night, and experience no discomfort until I try to change positions. I'm getting some pain of gas trapped in my stomach when I eat. Burping eases that. The omeprazole seems to help a lot. I woke up with heartburn last night and had to take it to help. It feels like I haven't had anything done. I feel no restriction on the liquids, which my doc says is normal, and won't be felt until I start solid foods. I miss eggs.

    Surgery Nov 9th

Not normal. Please check in with your doctor. Sweats can be a symptom of fever, which can indicate infection or leak. It could be nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry.

    Post-op surgery was Nov. 9

We share the same sleeversary I'm back home and having difficulty getting everything in. It's way tougher than I expect. I wondered if the doctor had actually done anything because I never feel any kind of restriction, just lack of desire. The only time I barfed was in the hospital because I don't take to painkillers kindly. Once out I kinda forgot I'd had it done and took a few gulps of Water. It didn't feel great. Sip sip sip! I'm only using acetaminophen as a painkiller during the day, and im taking hydrocodone at night because it makes my vision blurry. My doc has cleared me for full liquids, so I'm on yogurt, cream Soups with with no lumps, and Protein shakes mixed with milk or milk substitutes.
  18. You may meet him post-surgery. He came around both mornings I was in. Between 6am and 8. He steps in when Graf is elsewhere. Very nice guy, and very easy on the eye.
  19. My surgery was Monday 11/9. Doc said it couldn't have gone better, but i had real difficulty keeping pain meds down on tuesday, so they made me stay for another night. One incision is crazy painful, the rest I don't feel at all. It took 4 staff and an ultrasound machine to get a line on me, so I look bruised and battered. Because of my uncontrollable painkiller induced nausea and vomiting, I could only keep Water down. The hospital food was naaaaaasty. They released me yestersay. Today I've had cream Soup and yogurt. My tummy is making lots of gurgley noises, and it hurts to cough, sneeze and laugh.
  20. Have you met his fellow? Dr leavett or something similar. DAYUM. Met him today and he is one beautiful man.
  21. My surgery is scheduled for Monday 11/9. I know they pump you full of CO2 to see what they're doing, and I have the added bonus of and EGD whilst inflating my stomach from the inside to check for leaks. Everyone says the gas causes pain, it can hurt a lot, and that walking helps. I have this image of farting with every step! Is there a grain of truth in any of this? Can you burp after surgery? If anyone is able to share their gas experiences I'd appreciate it! It'll make me feel better!
  22. I'm getting sleeved by Dr 'Don Draper' Graf in 8 hours time! Getting nervous! Some of the staff at banner gateway are useless. Melissa who schedules for graf has bitchy-resting-voice. She doesn't return calls, doesn't do what she says she will when she says she will do it, and makes it seem like you're hassling her when you chase up about it. It took the 2 weeks after everything was completed for them to even submit for auth.
  23. No, I work just behind the hospital in a sleep lab.
  24. Monday 9th at 10:15 for me. My little travel suitcase is already packed! I'm working Sunday night so I'll only have time to shower and get changed out of my scrubs on the day of.

    Gas pains?

I asked my doctor about the liquid leak checks and he said he doesn't do it that way. He does an EGD and inflates the stomach to look for leaks, so I'm expecting extra gas.
