  1. Hello all, I recently made the decision to have WLS. I am sure I will be frequently posting questions and reading posts about what other people did or didn't do. I have already found this site to be very helpful. I am also blogging my experience as a way to keep a diary of everything I go through. If you would like to follow along, visit http://txbariatricguy.wordpress.com. Otherwise, I'll see y'all around here.

    EGD

I had mine 3 weeks ago today. It was two hours from the time I checked in until the time I walked out. Wife says actual procedure was less than 10 minutes.
  3. I am also pre-op and hoping to set a date in November if possible. I am enjoying one item (in moderation) each week on my "Food Farewell Tour" of foods/restaurants that I will never eat/eat at again (my choice) or will be a long time before I can eat/eat at them again, while TRYING to eat like I will need to months after surgery. Call it a form of mourning. Glad I made the decision to finally have WLS but I believe this will help me going forward
  4. I also was recently submitted to my insurance. I share some of the same feelings. I can only tell you that I am concentrating on the new me. I have been eating as close as possible to how I will eat months after I have been through surgery. Once or twice a week I indulge in foods/restaurants that I either will not eat again (my choice) or I think will be a real long time before I eat them again. That being said, I expect that I will still be same me after surgery, recovery, and learning how to cope with the new nutritional and healthy lifestyle I have chosen for me. Same ol' me, just much thinner.
  5. I had my cardio tests today (required by surgeon) and my visit with the NUT today. Everything is done and doctors office can now submit to my insurance. I am hoping to have a surgery date by end of next week as I have already been in touch with my insurance and enrolled in the required Bariatric Resource Services. Plus I lost another 10 lbs. since my last doctors visit.

    PB2

So I stopped by the jerky store on the way to visit family this weekend (love venison and elk jerky) and they had PB2 on sale for $1 (shaker bottle) and $3 (vacuum packed). So I purchased 2 of each in regular and chocolate flavor. Anybody have any additional suggestions besides adding it to protein shakes?
  7. Instead of canceling or rescheduling cruise try getting in touch with the special needs department at Carnival and see what, if any, options they might have for you.

    Dinner dates...

Here's a different point of view. If this is truly a person of interest, then you should be honest and tell them you had weight loss surgery and the effects it has had on your diet. If they can't handle the fact that you have had weight loss surgery, then maybe you should move on and find someone who can be supportive of a decision that you made for the sake of your health.
  9. First visit to doctor was last Tuesday. I will have completed all prerequisites in a couple of weeks, depending on what the results of EGD IS. Having EGD performed tomorrow since I have bad heartburn. Hoping to schedule surgery in November or December.
