Thanks Sarah. My goal is 75kg by Valentine's Day. Thank you for hosting. -
Too much protein?
BCs 1000 replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT recommends 0.75grams of Protein per kg of weight for females. Once I reach goal, my protein requirement will only be 37.5grams per day. You need to listen to what your NUT advises as they are making a recommendation based on your individual need. -
Congratulations! What a huge change in just one year.

Feedback for how you feel day 1-2 immediately after sleeve surgery
BCs 1000 replied to nysweetest1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I felt pretty terrible for the first three days. A fair bit of pain and very nauseous. I also had my gall bladder removed at the same time. I spent three nights in hospital with IV fluids which was good as I could barely hold anything down for the first two days. Day 5 was like a miraculous recovery and I felt pretty fantastic from that day forward. Good luck, hopeful you are one of the lucky ones who bounces back quickly. -
I did well on Xmas and Boxing Day. It must have taken a toll as I lost it a bit on the 27th on some nuts, cheese and popcorn at the movies The next day I faced up to it and entered it all into MFP. To my surprise the daily total was only 918 calories. Pre sleeve a blow out would probably have hit 10,000 calories.

200 pounds a REAL look at weight loss (skin galore)
BCs 1000 replied to Kathy Coop's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Those photos are actually very encouraging. To me, I imagine you must feel like you are walking on air after losing all of that weight. You have done amazingly well. -
Breakfast is the meal I struggle with everyday. I need suggestions. My NUT has told me to move on from shakes (11 weeks post op). Every morning I feel like toast. But if I eat a piece of toast, it sets me off on a bad road for the day where I crave carb/snack foods all day. I need high protein/low carb suggestions. What do you eat for breakfast?

I went to the vegetarian butcher today. I bought some polenta, sundries tomato and basil sausages. I think I ha w found an awesome breakfast food!

I am up to week 6 of C25k. I am 11 weeks post op and still 60lbs away from my HWR. I am fortunate that my knees are in good condition considering how much weight I have been carrying around. I am really shocked that I am able to keep up with the program. The first week was so hard, those sixty seconds seemed to go on forever. In just six weeks I have so much more stamina. Running will be a breeze with another 60lbs gone! OP I would really recommend C25K. Without the program there is no way I would push myself so hard.

I will never eat straight before bed again!
BCs 1000 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Last night I had a vegetarian schnitzel for dinner. It was quite dry compared to what I usually eat which is more casserole consistency. I am 10 weeks sleeved. After I ate it I checked MFP and was only at 50grams Protein. I decided to push through and eat a second schnitzel (around a third of the size of what a meat schnitzel would be). I had only slept three hours the night before (kids) and after being at work all day I was buggered. I was feeling very uncomfortable, but didn't vomit, which was probably because the food was quite dry. So I went to bed feeling not very well. An hour and a half later I woke up and couldn't breathe. I was trying to take a breath but everything was closed up. I was making this horrible wheezing noise and by chest/throat was burning. It only lasted for about 30 seconds until I could breath again, but it was terrifying! I sat upright for 30 minutes until the burning subsided and then slept on 5 pillows so I was slightly upright. I have never had acid reflux before so I am so glad some of you had posted about it before or I would have thought I was dying. Lesson learned, I will never eat just before bedtime ever again!!! -

Eating if not hungry?
BCs 1000 replied to Thucydides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggle with this too OP. It is very counterintuitive. Eating when I am not hungry is how I got into trouble to begin with. It scares me to make myself eat when I am not hungry now as I worry I am not learning the eating habits I need for long term success. -

What is the consistency like? Is it thick and milky or more like cordial? -

I don't eat meat, so I think it means everything is so bulky. I have been making my own Seitan which has heaps of protein in it, so that is helping. -

Froody, those two cups of non starchy vegetables are a life saver. I was also told to have 1tsp of oil per day. This meant I could have a salad at lunch with balsamic vinegarette and a small bowl of veggie soup at dinner. The first three days are really hard and then the hunger subsides. The last few days suck as you are just so over eating the same thing everyday, but by then you are well into countdown mode! -

I am now 8 weeks post op. Feeling really great. I did try to push myself the other night to eat dinner and threw up. I was only at 40 grams of protein for the days so even though I wasn't feeling great before I started eating I kept going.... I find it quite difficult to get the required amount of protein in each day. I am forcing myself to eat when I am not hungry at all. At least the water is now easier to get down now. Including 2 weeks of optifast, I am down 25kg which is very encouraging. Great to see we are all doing so well. Congratulations everyone ???????? -

Glad to hear you are through. Was your surgery this morning? How is your pain and nausea? -
You inspired me. Mine is in the oven now. Using Seitan instead of Turkey.
-
I was told no driving for two weeks! Luckily where I live the public transport is great and there is a lot in walking distance. I only use my car once a week anyway.

Am I rambling like an addict?
BCs 1000 replied to RetroGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is weird isn't it? I have felt satisfaction walking through a food court just smelling all of the different foods or by watching someone else eat. It feels like I have actually eaten? So bizarre, in a really good way.
