Checking in alone?
BCs 1000 replied to Sandy GlueStick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I caught a bus in on my own, spent three days in hospital alone then caught a cab home. I didn't want my husband dragging the kids in. I was fine. The nurses were amazing. I was feeling very poorly for the first 48hrs so I was glad I didn't have to talk to anyone! -

Found the answer. US carbs include fibre counts http://au.atkins.com/blog/weight-loss-stall-on-atkins-and-the-possible-reasons-why.html -
Here is one for all of the shorties to look forward to. I was buying t-shirts at a concert. Kids $25, adults $30 or.... 2 kids shirts for $35. Tried on the biggest kids size, too big. Tried the next one down, perfect fit. Yes, I am a tight arse

Mine are totally out of whack. It is light for 4 days, heavy for 3, light for 4. And last month a week later I bled for 24hrs. WTF? I suppose losing so much weight has just thrown our systems out.

Am I too late for the doctor???? Doctor KF, I enter packaged foods into MFP by scanning the bar code. My Quest Protein bars (AUS) come up as 5 grams carbs. The other day I searched instead of scanned (had thrown out the wrapper) and the US and Canadian bars came up as 23 grams Carbs? Are carbs not counted the same across the world? -
A bit a more room these days...

Am I small? and more Fat mentality issues....
BCs 1000 replied to pr_pitbullgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just saw a photo of myself with a few members of my family including my sisters. Not only am I no longer obese, I am tiny.... I look so slight next to them. It is to be expected as I am so short that my healthy weight range is that of a six grader lol. What is bizarre is I don't feel small. I still feel fat, but that photo clearly shows I am much smaller than the others in the photo. My collar bones are really prominent now also, so that jumped out at me too. In the photo I was wearing a size 4 shirt. When I first tried it on I was sure it would be really tight and would cling to me, but it was swimming on me. I should have got the smaller size. I wonder how long it takes the brain to catch up??? -
Successful weight loss after 6 months? Anyone?
BCs 1000 replied to carrie3101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
9 months out, still losing. I have lost 35lbs in the last 3 months. Only 8lbs to ultimate goal. I did recently have two weeks of no change. I went back to liquids for a few days (Protein shakes, high protein Soups - I didn't limit calories) and dropped 5lbs. My restriction also improved quite a bit. You may want to consider doing the 5 day pouch reset to kick you off again? I have also used jogging to move me out of a slump. I find long distance running rather than short/fast runs helps me drop the lbs, as long as you don't eat all of the calories back -
I make my own Seitan. Very high in protein. http://40aprons.com/seitan-ground-beef/ http://weelicious.com/2012/07/06/vegans-and-carnivores-unite-seitan-tacos/ https://www.buzzfeed.com/mathewg5/29-ass-kicking-recipes-for-homemade-seitan-dst2?utm_term=.ptqDkvBMr#.vxEbl7kWx

I have a serious question... I know, right?!?!
BCs 1000 replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am close enough to my ultimate goal to smell it. My weight loss slowed and then stalled for 2 weeks. I went back to a liquid diet. Low carb Soup, Protein shakes and soy milk. I stuck to the liquids for 5 days and day 6&7 added a protein pancake. I shifted 2.3kg (5lbs) last week which now leaves me with only 4kg to my ultimate goal. So far this week I have stuck to the liquids again, but 3 days should do it so tomorrow I will add in some chewable protein. Look it worked, but I can't say I am not eternally scarred by the biggest loser article floating around about permanently screwed up metabolisms. I have made it to goal very quickly by being very harsh on my calorie intake so I may have really buggered it up. -
@@SuperDave Wow. I manage to only have cheat food once every 4 weeks or so (none before 4 months post op) and I thought I was doing well. 1 yr is awesome! I will tell myself if you had PMS every 28 days you may not have achieved it Great work . Oh, and even though I live 8000 miles away, even I know that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

^^^ Not sure if you can link articles to other sites, so I won't. I read an article which discussed this. Most people after massive weight loss had around 3-5lbs of skin removed. This was if they were at goal/low body fat. -

You can sprinkle it like parmesan cheese, use it as a bread crumb or in sauces (gives a nutty cheesy flavour). -
I just made this. I am sure it isn't new, but what a way to get your Protein in! pancake mix - 25g vanilla Protein powder - 1 egg - 1 tsp baking powder - 2tbsp Water - Canola oil spray for cooking Served with 2 tbsp sugar free maple syrup 181 Calories 5.8g Fat 6g Carbs 27.6g Protein * I used Maxine's burn protein powder This was super filling and so yum. Going to try it next time with lemon and Splenda rather than the maple syrup.

How do I tell my surgeon he screwed up?
BCs 1000 replied to thomas1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Even mindlessly, for a dare or a million dollars, I could not consume 20oz of dense Protein in one go. Not a chance. I had 5oz once when I had been a long time without food so my stomach was totally empty. Usually I cannot finish 3.5 oz. I am 8 months out. OP, how did you feel after you ate it? Were you in pain or nauseous? Book in with your surgeon and present the facts to him. Best of luck. -
I get excited with exercise and then bored really quickly. Since my surgery I have had phases of: 1 - Couch to 5 K (finished the 5k then was over it) 2 - Jillian Michaels 30 day shed & shred (finished beginner and intermediate DVDs, so 60 days of this) 3 - Going on really long walks 4 - Yoga classes 5 - Jogging 10km 3 times a week 6 - Strength/weight classes (this is where I am at now) As soon as you feel you don't want to go or are making excuses, try something different. And it doesn't always have to be full throttle, walking and yoga are great also.

Why the heck do I feel hungry?
BCs 1000 replied to DFernandez718's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same around 2 weeks post op (day 2 I was still rolled in a ball moaning and vomiting so you are doing well), but in the end it turned out it was just my new sleeve. Even now it grumbles all day long, very noisy. The feeling of hunger post op for me is much higher in my abdomen compared to pre op. At the time I read the posts saying it was acid and just the feeling/noises of the sleeve but was adamant that was not true for me, but it did turn out to be the case. True hunger for me did not return until the six month mark and it is still significantly less than pre op. Good luck -

My bottom is flat as a tack. I just bought some tummy flattening, bottom shaping undies on eBay. They have a padded bottom area. I look awesome in jeans now, but I feel like I am wearing an incontinence aid I am in a size XS/S and still feel fat too, especially around my tummy. But every kilo I lose seems to come off my legs and chest. I look really scrawny around my collar bones. -
Is your surgery a secret?
BCs 1000 replied to Tara1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Husband and my mum only. Very, very glad as I have read some hideous stories of the negative, judgmental comments others have received. Many are strong enough to cope with this, I felt I had enough on my plate recovering from surgery and learning a new way of living. Think carefully about this. You can always later confide in people, but you can't pull it back if you have already told people. -
When it comes to carbs, I can eat a whole heap more than I can of Protein. Like PP said, if I start the day with carbs, the rest of the day goes downhill fast. I just did the 5 day pouch test to get myself on track as these final pounds are proving very difficult to shift. Through the five days I could not finish a cup of Soup or protein, so all is still well with my restriction. If I wanted to, I could probably eat a garbage bag of popcorn as it is not very dense so I can fit a lot in. The same goes for other types of carbs. I am in the healthy weight range now, but I still have the psychology of a morbidly obese person and probably always will. I cannot rely on my sleeve alone and am positive I could put all of the weight back on if I don't stick to the protein first rule. I think you scared yourself, which probably isn't a bad thing. I have done it a few times over the past 8 months and am now 100% clear that I will never be able to include carbs in my diet like the average person does. I will always over eat them. Best of luck learning what works for you
