    New to this site

Welcome Sheddinglbs! I am getting the band on Monday. I too didn't really want to tell anyone (I would have only told my mom, who was my BF, but she passed away two yrs ago). Of course, my husband knew, and my BF as well. And then I kept running into problems with not telling people. Like, why aren't you eating?, why don't you ever want to go to lunch anymore, etc. So, one day my husband asked me, why be secretive? Are you ashamed you are making this choice? That made me really angry! I was like, of course not! I am going to be so much healthier bc of this decision! But, his questions did hit home. It didn't feel good trying to hide a decision that I should be so excited about. His response? So own it, and be proud! You've made a decision to be healthier, and WLS isn't the easy route! I decided he was right. So, one by one I have let people know. Their responses haven't all been positive, but that's ok. I'm doing what is best for me! And I feel so much better owning my decision & not hiding it. I actually feel empowered now when telling people. I am taking control of my weight. The best part? My aunt (all the women in my family are overweight) said to me - wow, that's gutsy! Good for you making your dream become your reality! ☺️ I didn't think that would be her response! So, everyone is different, but for me, disclosing my decision was the best choice. Good luck to you!

    Back to Work?

Awesome CTJohn! I'm working frm home for two days afterwards & then back to the office. I'm hoping that's enough time I have the "option" to work from home the whole week, but you know how they tell you that, but you get the feeling they don't mean it & expect you back... Yeah, it's like that.

Who say's the band doesn't work?

Thank you! I'll be banded on the 28th. I do see a lot of negative comments about the band. But I'm not letting them sway me. It's a tool and I'm gonna use it! You are an inspiration! Thank you!!!

    What did your breast's do?

I am having surgery next week. I sort of feel like sagging is inevitable... (I'm 41) I've talked to my hubbie about how things might change... And I'm keeping the lift/augmentation door open!!! I have set up a savings account that I add to every paycheck, so when all is said & done, my plastic surgery money is sitting there, ready to use! And, if things go better than anticipated, and I decide I don't need any plastic surgery... I'll have a lot of fun buying expensive investment clothes! ????

    B12 shots?

I also do my own B-12 shots. My doctor gave me the option of doing it at home or coming in (bring Rx with me). I don't mind the inj. 1x a month. No big deal. I first tried several other delivery methods, but my number was still low. My doctor said injections would be the most effective delivery method. And since doing injections, my labs always come back normal. Btw, I get my Rx from my regular doctor, not my bariatric doctor. My "regular" doctor is a preventative specialist who runs very extensive labs for macronutrient counts (vitamins & minerals) in addition to the other sort of panels, but more in-depth than any doctor I've ever had before. It's really great information to have!

    Protein Chips

I live in Texas, HEB carries all the quest products... Haven't tried them yet, but more protein is always good...

    Isopure clear protein drinks

I too have to have it ice cold! (The clear fruit flavored isopure drinks) it's really that funky aftertaste for me! So, I get a cup of beef broth, and use it as a "chaser". It seems to rinse out the funky flavor for me. I agree with WL Warrior, nothing else measures up to the protein count, not to mention the vitamins and minerals, in Isopure! I don't love it, but I can choke it down. For me, Grape, alpine punch, and (surprisingly to me) mango peach were the most tolerable flavors.

    Extramarital temptations...

I think the original topic is how do you handle the new self confidence and pride in your physical self? And does it make you turn to a more exciting prospect outside your marriage? Obviously it's going to be different for each person. If you have been in a relationship that isn't working, I think you instinctually turn else where. For me, my husband and I are looking forward to my renewed self esteem. When we met, I was much more self assured than I am now, since gaining so much weight. And I can't wait to feel great about myself and rekindle the romance in our marriage. It's not like it's totally gone, but I know it can be better. But I can understand how you would feel more flirtatious and get a thrill out of being appreciated by other men... For me, I will just soak up the thrills and go home to hubbie... But I WILL like being noticed again! ????

    Help!

I'm sorry, no advise since I won't be banded till next week... But I hope you feel better! Do you get drunk faster & with less after you are banded?????
