I had the sleeve done about 7 weeks ago. Yes my Gerd is worse. Much worse. They say it should get better. I sure hope so.

It had a few rough Patches but everyday I'm a little better. Purees have helped significantly cut down on feeling queasy all the time. I thought I'd feel listless due to eating so little but nope.

My first week had its up and downs. Thanks to seeing my dr at the ER yesterday, today is better than the last several days. I'm trying to understand why I've lost almost no weight this first week despite following my programs plan the best I can. Due to pains I've been low on fluids and Proteins each day, but I've done what I can. While I haven't been exercising, I have been moving around. Again I'm doing what I'm told to do. I honestly feared that this wouldn't work for me- I even asked if it had ever NOT worked presurgery. I was assured it would. I've always had a very hard time losing weight -but this is sorta crazy! Did this happen to anyone else? Tomorrow marks 1 week since surgery.

I had to change my date 2x due to health problems and now it's finally here!! I'm still in disbelief. My surgeon doesn't require a liquid diet, so it's just been reduced calorie. Not too bad! I know that after my surgery in the morning the real world begins. I can't wait to kick these health issues to the curb. I'm ready to take my seat on the bench - thanks for holding it for me while I was being treated for a newly diagnosed auto immune disorder. Ready for my new start!!

Tomorrow its back to the dr to hear if I'm going to be cleared for the June 7th surgery date. After 7 weeks on steriods my weight isn't anything like I'd like for it to be and watching what i eat is a real struggle as I'm hungry all the time!!

I started this journey last September and hoped to have my surgery in February, but I ended up with a mid-April date. I had ever thing ready-work leave, etc. I was mentally there. I've been sick since November, off and on, with some respiratory thing, and got slammed with it again the first part of March. I was sure it would be gone in time. Nope, anethesia and my pcp wouldn't clear me. Ok, off the schedule for April 18th. Reset for June 7th. Seems like plenty of time, right??!! Well I've had several tests, 5 weeks of steriods, and lots of other meds - and I'm not much better. I was just told today my surgeon needs clearances by next Wednesday. It's looking like my date is going to be moved again. We'll that did it - the tears started. I rarely cry. I'm sick 1) of being sick with this unbelievable cough and wheezing and 2)being in some weird holding pattern re my life. When will I be out on leave?yep, I don't know. Will I be able to be drive kids during x period of time?I don't know.. you get the idea. Add to that while I'm a fairly laid back person I also HAVE to be in control. (It's weird I know, but it works). I want to move on but I can't and this gray zone is also a killer on drive and motivation.i can't exercise (walking alone irritates the cough ) and while I should be doing well with my eating, my current victory is just not gaining weight on the steriods! ! 40mg a prednisone a day is also pushing my sanity in that it affects my sleep, body temp etc. . We'll it's looking like someone else is going to take my place on the bench on June 7th... I wonder if I'll get there. I sure hope it's this year since I've already paid out my deductible!! (Yes even that was met by February given my plans!! ) well for those of you who made it this far - thanks for indulging my rant!!

Thank you. It does help to hear others have been in a similar situation and eventually got there. I hope you're doing well now that you've had your surgery!!

They're trying their 2nd culture to see what they can learn. 1st one didn't show anything.

One part is an autoimmune deal, but it should have resolved with the steriods already. I think I've stumped them.

I was scheduled for my surgery for next Monday, April 18th. I've been sick off and in (ok more on) since November with upper respiratory infections. This last one has really kicked my tail. Last Friday at my preop appointment anethisiology said my lungs sounded terrible and called my primary care dr. At that point I was flagged as surgery unlikeley. My pcp decided to add 2 inhalers to the mix, and I was to see him Wednesday for clearance. I've taken all my meds-antibiotics, steriods, inhalers, mucinex etc. Well, I'm still not cleared. No vsg for me on Monday. My pcp wouldn't even agree to the early May dates my surgeon had. So now it's been set for June. I had my fit and even drank 1 can of Fresca and most of a Sprite and ate 1/2 of a cookiebar (about 3 bites). (I haven't had soda in months! Since I started my nut visits k) While I did eat/drink because of my emotions, it's the most controlled binge I've ever had! I was aware I was doing it, and after my tantrum, it ended. Last night it was back to a high Protein dinner and crystal light. I guess it's a step in the right direction. We'll I guess other than working to get healthy for my June date there's nothing else I can do. I had hoped for a Feb date way back when, and now I'm looking at June. That loser's bench keeps getting moved away from me. I can't wait to join the rest of you on it!! I'm just tired of waiting and I'm ready for my new beginning. Thanks. I know it's for the best, but I'm bummed. It was supposed to be tomorrow. My process started last September. This weekend on top of just not feeling very well from this endless bug, I ate far more tan I had been. Most of it wasn't terrible, but not great either. I'm hoping my pity-party ends after tomorrow passes. Odd as it sounds, I guess it's a good thing I'm still coughing and wheezing or I'd be pretty angry. Now we just have to figure out why this respiratory illness won't clear-4 months is a long time!

I hope you get feeling better soon! My surgery is on the 18th also and I JUST got over the flu. I went to my pre admission testing and when she took my temp I nearly passed out from holding my breath (I couldn't breathe through my nose and had to keep my mouth closed) lol. I was so scared they would push back my surgery as well. Keep us updated! I'm starting on inhalers and I'm to report in Monday, and see my pcp on Wednesday. I'm hoping the inhalers make a huge difference. I understand their point. April 18th! This is my first posting (I've been lurking and reading for months. ). I'm nervous that I'll fail, but I have to have to believe that I can do this! It seemed so far off- and now it's just over a week away. WOW, how did that happen?!!?? as far as prep goes, my surgeon has a 1400 calorie day diet but I've been using Protein drinks (1-2) a day and a small meal. It's just easier for me. My biggest hurdle is trying to get over this darn bronchitis which threatens to push my surgery back if my primary care dr doesn't clear me for surgery next week! I've talked with my work about going out for the month and this would be just a mess if I have to move it! I've been taking everything religiously- and while I'm better it's still lingering! I can't wait to get on the other side!!s
