  1. Happy 36th Birthday micks!

  2. Happy 35th Birthday micks!

  3. ok I'm one week post band (27th Feb) and have been advised to stick to a liquid diet for two weeks. Part of my problem is that I keep thinking "oh, I wonder if I can eat this?" and turns out that I can. day 2 - scrambled eggs for Breakfast day 3 - scrambled eggs and a milk roll for breakfast. That evening, I also managed to eat 4 chocolates (never been a chocolate eater, but these were yummy, hand made, belgian chocolates) day 4 - on the way home (6 hour trip) we couldn't find anywhere that would do me a soup. So I had ate the cheese and ham filling from a sandwich - literally a slice of ham and a slice of cheese - and then some of the flatbread. Have been very good since - I've been making home made Soups, which taste lush and occupy my time. However, last night, I had a Gu brownie. I just wanted texture! I am still eating considerably less than before and am filling up really quickly. I am very aware of not overeating and have been visually gauging my food, so that even if I don't necessarily feel full I will stop. I have learnt that 20-30mins after stopping I'll suddenly feel as if I've eaten a cow! All kudos to those who've been able to stick to the liquids only, etc. To me, though, this only led to misery so as long as I am sensible and self aware, I'm happy to try out new things and adjust my diet accordingly.
  4. I got banded on the 27th. I'm not taking any pain meds and after leaving hospital on the 28th, I only took the odd paracetamol. I'm trying to drink, but am finding it hard to drink just Water - however, my dietician did say that as long as I took 1.5lts of liquids (tea, etc) then I shouldn't worry about it. I'm not letting myself get hungry by eating small regular meals - Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. I've had no issues eating and eat suprisingly well - I found it really difficult to have a just liquid diet, so have introduced some mushy stuff like scrambled eggs, which really fills me up. I've been changing the plasters over my incisions after every shower (so, yes I can shower) and I'm healing up nicely - even the big port incision on the left looks good and has stopped being as painful. I've been able to sleep on my side for the last two days at least, and woke up this morning on my tummy, so it's getting easier. Compared to how I feeling this time last week, I am absolutely fantastic! I went to see my GP yesterday and I've even lost 4kgs!

hello all! I posted in the introductions forum a few days ago but did not realise that there was a UK post. I'm Michaela and I'm in Bracknell (Berks) and I'm currently organizing my surgery for Feb 27th in Bruges with Dr Dillemans. Well done to everyone with their losses and good luck to those who, like me, are yet to be banded.
  6. hello from the UK! Have been reading and reading and reading about all available options, risks, successes and failures but I've bitten the bullet (no pun intended) and have booked my lapband surgery with Dr Dillemans for Feb 27th in Bruge. Hope to learn a little more from all of you as to what to expect, etc over the coming... well, forever. One thing I've been drilling into my brain is that this is forever. Not a quick fix, not a magic cure, but a life changing and affecting decision. Look forward to getting to know you all better! Michaela
