  1. I'm no expert on eating disorders but I am a mental health professional. If it's not causing someone distress or health problems chewing food and spitting it out is not disordered eating. I can see how it can lead to an eating disorder though.

Dr Surdulescu said my insurance won't pay for the lab test until I have a home study. She said this is common. Since I don't have symptoms and haven't had problems with anesthesia she said she would accept a negative home test and turn it in. I've had 5 surgeries in the past 3 years and have been fine.

    Period?

I've been up since 4 am because my uterus is still angry with me. And my husband is snoring. "My uterus" wanted to strangle him lol.
  4. My doctor said in the last 2 years it's how the insurance wants it. She said it is waaaaay less reliable than a lab test.
  5. I just had my consult. My insurance ONLY pays for at home sleep study and then after the results come back will they pay for the lab one. I was told the same thing, a negative doesn't mean I don't have apnea but she said she'd be satisfied with a negative home test because my age and neck size etc.

To Tell or Not To Tell?

It's all over my Facebook and blog. When people try to get me to do something or eat something I shouldn't I let them know.

    Period?

Omg I went today to have Mirena put in. Couldn't do it. It hurt so bad. I was in tears. I almost passed out. He couldn't see anything even with the HUMONGOUS speculum. He barely got the clamp on my cervix and I jumped. He measured my uterus and I almost died. Then he tied to put it in and couldn't see. He said he go it almost in but I jerked and said there was no way he could get it in and open without me screaming in pain. He said some people he has to put to sleep. I said "not thank you." I'm going back on Seasonale. Lol.

    Hummus and ?

If you put hummus on a tree bark I would eat that stuff up. Hummus is good on anything!! I like hummus on chicken, in chili, in black Beans, on veggies, on those nutrigrain fake cracker things, on rice cakes, on pita, on anything!!

    Oops

Let me tell you about the problems I have had a false positive drug screen for THC. My surgeon said my insurance may not cover my surgery due to it. I may have to do treatment and/or wait and be clean 6 months before they will do it. They also had an "intervention" with me and referred me to substance abuse treatment. I am a social worker in a drug rehab facility. I am a chemical dependency counselor. But they don't care. It's crazy.

Thoughts on Sugar free ice cream?

Yeah sugar free stuff usually has a lot of carbs or fat in my experience. I just looked at Sugar free Reece's cups at Walgreens and carbs were ridiculous.
  11. I had drank half and stopped after blerd's post. I'll dilute the rest tomorrow. I was just shaking and had a really bad headache and felt faint so the nurse here where I work thought it was low blood sugar and gave me juice.
  12. I'm not on my pre op liquid diet yet. My surgery isn't supposedly until the end of November.
  13. My current liquid line up. The juice is a little treat for today.

    Any Lawyers Out There?

Yeah confidentiality doesn't matter if he's the policy holder. My husband is my policy holder and he has access to everything. Even stuff I don't want him to know. :-/

    Re: Snacks

I see what you're saying and I'm not trying to give you hard time. However. You've got to start somewhere. I'm sure most of us didn't wake up and impulsively decide to do this. Even starting the process is educative and helps a lot of us immensely.
  18. This happened after my gallbladder surgery. It was a form of MRSA. I have a big ugly scar and bulge there still 2 years later.

    Re: Snacks

Unfortunately, full on food addicts can't do anything in moderation. The 'everything in moderation' thinking can sometimes get people into trouble. What happens when the restriction wanes and hunger returns (because down the road it does happen) and then there is nothing to help moderate things? People gain weight, that's what happens. Sometimes it's just best to abstain from certain trigger foods. Sad, but true. I don't t think that full on food addicts should have the surgery thenSooo with that logic full on heroin addicts shouldn't have suboxone or methadone? It's a tool as well. Not a miracle. It's hard work. Just like WLS. As Kurt Vonegut said and this posted on my wall in my office where I work as a social worker in a drug rehab facility: You were sick, but now you are well and there is work to be done.
  21. Is your doctor a psychiatrist? I would suggest getting a psychiatrist for medication maintenance and symptom management. Just what I've learned in the field and my own experience with my doctor.
  22. My insurance didn't require a diet and said a 6 month period un supervised diet within the last 2 years. So I'm not sure.
  23. Yeeah. I'm stepping out of this one.
