I received some bad news today. I fell the Sunday before MLK Day and my foot/leg has been bothering me. Today I went to see an orthopedic surgeon and found out I have ruptured my Achilles' tendon and fx my heel bone. I have to have surgery to fix this and it is scheduled for Monday. Unfortunately, this is the exact day I was scheduled for my sleeve. My sleeve has now been rescheduled for march 21.

I met with Dr. Eagon on Nov. 16. My primary care dr faxed my medical clearance to the wrong number (this was done in September) so Dr. Eagon's office didn't have it. I had to wait for the office to receive the form, Dr. Eagon's office to submit everything to insurance and then insurance approval. The week after Christmas I received the call to schedule surgery. They had an opening on Jan 21 but I wanted to give a 30 day fmla notice to my job. FYI...when I called to make my appointment with Dr. Eagon his office told me that I could have made my appointment before actually completing the last nut visit. I still had pt and psych appointments to complete so I had to wait... Get those out the way and get an appointment because he is super busy!!!

@@Ohsosleeved I agree. I also love to eat and unfortunately my stomach is able to hold a lot!!! I think the sleeve is the exact tool I need to help with portion control. Are you doing any type of pre surgery diet now? I am trying to do protein shakes only today and tomorrow. My weight is essentially unchanged since my first nutrition visit but I would like to be down a few pounds before Wednesday's visit.

Dr. Eagon is my surgeon too and my surgery is 1 day before yours...have you had your refresher nurse visit yet? Mine is Weds and I was wondering what to expect. Will you be in west county or the city?My appt with the nurse is Wednesday, too. I'll be having my surgery at Barnes West. Where are you having yours? My appointment is at 9:30 with Ashley and I am also having my surgery at Barnes West. What made you choose the sleeve over the bypass? I was told to arrive by 7 and that I would be the 2nd case at 9am.

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

I am a nurse and although most hospitals have lots of wall outlets, they are not always available or convenient to get to. I need (want) to have my iPad and phone close-by (and charged) for entertainment purposes.

What vitamins (brand...type...gummies...liquid....etc) are everyone planning to take? Our time is coming QUICK!!!! Time to get ready. Here is my get ready list: (What's on yours?) 1. Take before pictures and do body measurements. 2. Purchase vitamins, Protein powder, "good" groceries 3. Pack for hospital---don't forget an extension cord!!! 4. Get my hair colored 5. Make sure my house is in order

    Feb. 1st Surgery Date!

My surgery is also Feb. 1st!!! While I'm excited and committed to my decision to have wls...I am still more than a little concerned that 1. Something will go badly in surgery and my family will suffer undue hardship and pain because I chose to have an "elective" surgery. 2. The surgery does not work for me because A---I don't really know when I'm full and when I should stop eating. B---I have not mastered how to not gobble my food but chew all my food into a mush. C---is it possible that I love food too much? 3. I lose the weight and gain it ALL+ back...AS USUAL I have to be all in for my family and friends---Selling the sleeve as the cure to my high blood pressure being that Im allergic to many bp meds and that it runs on both sides of family. Secretly, I really dont know how this will play out. Does anyone else have similiar concerns? I know the sleeve is best for my health and I have been waiting for this day to finally come... Good Luck everyone and let's keep in touch.

I work for Wash U on the medical campus and Dr Eagon is very popular there. He is the only bariactric surgeon for Bjc Hospitals in our area and yes the wait was long...I attended the seminar in March 2015. After completing ins required 6 month nut appointments in sept. I was not able to make an appointment to see Dr. Eagon until mid November. I was very frustrated and went to Des Peres Hosp and met with Dr. Ricks. He was very nice. However, between my pcp being slow to send in my medical clearance, Dr. Eagon's office being slow to forward my medical records and Des Peres hospital telling me I would have a 1500.00 out of pocket max--I stayed where I was. Although I was leaning toward the sleeve I wanted to get Dr. Eagon's opinion between the bypass and sleeve. Dr. Ricks only does sleeves and lap bands. He also required me to get an EGD (150.00 deductible). Dr. Eagon does a lot of the more complicated cases and doesn't require an EGD or pre op liquid diet. He has a good reputation so I hope he is worth the wait! I go to the Vitamin Supplement Store on Eager Rd next to Dierbergs and I use their product called Level 1. I haven't tried Syntrax nectar but have heard a lot about it. Does it come unflavored? It's so nice being able to "talk" with you all!!!

I'm from St. Louis. Dr. Eagon will be doing my surgery Feb 1 at BJ west. I am in the process of getting vitamins and stocking the pantry. I found a great protein shake at the vitamen supplement store. The guys there let you try samples before purchasing. I like strawberry the best. I tried Isopure grape and did not like it at all. I also have orange and passion fruit also but I'm very hesitant to try . Does anyone have a favorite non flavored protein powder? Good Luck to Everyone!!!
  13. My surgery is Feb. 1. My Dr. doesn't require a liquid diet but, I plan to start cutting back and substituting 1-2meals a day with shakes on Wednesday. I meet with the nurse for a final weight check on the following Wednesday and definitely don't want to be up. The surgeon could possibly cancel if I gain...
