I have UHC and Dr. Eagon is my surgeon. He is with BJH and sleeves at Barnes and Barnes West County. He is arguably the best in the entire St. Louis metropolitan area. Mind you: 1. He is my surgeon so I'm probably biased but have to believe this. 2: I am not scheduled until 3/21 so I have not placed my life in his hands. 3. He is the only WU/BJH surgeon and does some of the most complicated surgeries...his office is very busy! Have you tried searching posts for "Missouri" or "St. Louis"? There are quite a few of us on this board. Good-Luck!!!

I'm so happy for you!!! My husband is a firefighter (civilian) too and was also a firefighter in the Airforce Reserves but is retired now. He has that fit, healthy....so sexy build too. 5'11'' , 205...he's 47 and still in great shape. I really enjoy reading your progress updates---being on bed rest following an Achilles' tendon surgery can be real depressing and boring!!!! Don't you just love that build? Do you have surgery scheduled yet? Yes, it is March 21. My orthopedic surgeon saw how upset I was when she told me that I would have to have my tendon surgery--on the exact day I was already scheduled for my sleeve (feb1). Her office called my Bari surgeon and they had my sleeve rescheduled before I left the appointment. I'm enjoying living through you and I hope mine is just as successful as yours!.......yes, that firefighter build is very nice indeed! My husband is supportive about the sleeve but is always hugging, pinching and up under me saying how he is going to miss my extra....yea right!

Glad to share! Yes, it's by Thermos called the Thermos Smart Lid and he purchased it from Amazon. It's probably carried at large sporting food stores that carry Thermos products as well!!! Thanks so much...I'm definitely ordering one!!!

What flavors do you have and have you tried them yet? I purchased the grape and passion fruit. I have tasted the grape and did not like it at all. I felt like my tongue was shriveling up...really weird so I have not tried any others.

Hello Everyone, I'm from St. Louis and Dr. Eagon will be doing my surgery on March 21, 2016 at Barnes West.

I was originally scheduled for sleeve surgery Feb 1, 2016 but instead I had to have an Achilles' tendon and heel fracture surgery. BUMMER RIGHT? My sleeve was rescheduled for March 21,2016. 7 weeks. My surgery involves being non weight bearing for at least 6 weeks and I assume that played a role in the ultimate decision. After surgery it's important to get walking, which I cannot do right now. Thank God for the good results you have received so far!!! You are so close..be patient...

Thanks for sharing your story. I so understand how you are feeling right now. This has been an extremely LONG process. After I completed my 6months of NUT visits(Sept2015), I called his office and could not get in to see him for 2 months! During this time I found out that I actually needed an additional NUT visit (my insurance requires a certain number of days from start to finish and (I think mine was 180) I had just under. I verified this with my dietician and had to make an additional appointment. That was TOO CLOSE...I would have been HEATED if, after 2 months of waiting, the office submitted my paperwork and it was denied by insurance. Luckily, a co-worker who was also going through the process gave me the heads up. This was their oversight and I was mad enough to make an appointment with the my New Self Program at Des Peres. I paid a mandatory 75.00 program fee, signed a medical release for my records to be sent from Dr. Eagon's office and met with Dr. Ricks. He was extremely nice but then a few things happened... 1. At this point I had not decided between the bypass or sleeve. I had been holding out to receive a medical opinion from Dr. Eagon. Dr. Ricks told me he only did the lapband and sleeve and when I asked him why he told me that the malpractice insurance was too high. 2. When the program coordinator called to tell me that my insurance would cover bariactric surgery (i already knew it did but I assume every program routinely checks) she told me that I have an out of pocket max deductable of 1500.00 and would have to pay this amount subtracting any copays made thus far in the year to Des Peres. 3. They wanted me to have an EGD which was another 150.00 deductible. These were the major deciding factors for me...I decided to be patient and just wait. Dr. Eagon attended Harvard Medical School and did his fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is the only WU/BJH bariactric surgeon and does many of the most complex surgeries that most other surgeons can't or won't. I would argue that he is the top in the St. Louis area. I work for WU so I may be biased but, I have also spoke to many of his patients who say he is worth the wait!!! After the disappointment and shock wears off you will feel better. During the seminar, I remember someone asked him a question regarding gaining and losing weight pre-surgery and he said that he would cancel surgery if there was weight gain. As I can recall it was a specific question and not something included in the presentation. It sounds like the issue of weight gain was not addressed during your seminar. Im so sorry and feel your pain. Loose the weight quick and get on the schedule fast!!!

I'm scheduled for March 21. I was rescheduled from Feb 1 because I fell and fractured my heel bone and ruptured my achilles tendon. I'm now having surgery for my foot on Monday.

I too am a Christian woman and have been married 21 years. There have been ups and downs. I have put up with a lot of things my girlfriends where quick to tell me they would "never put up with" and I have done things his friends have told him were too bad to get over. During our early years we argued and fussed a lot!!! Not so much now but we still don't agree on everything. We have 6 kids and he is my best friend. As I write this I am disappointed in him but I still love him. You have to love yourself and decide for yourself what you are willing to put up with. Don't threaten to leave if he knows you wont. You are working on your physical needs and that's great if you're doing it for YOU! You need a plan for attaining independence so you don't feel trapped. It gives him too much power over you and he knows he has it which makes .Praying for you.

I have to have surgery to fix this and it is scheduled for feb 1, 2016. My sleeve has now been rescheduled for march 21... I have never had any breaks or fractures and my only surgeries were baby related...1 c-section and 1 infected ovary ...11 and 20 years ago!!! This delay must have happened for a reason. It was a bummer to find out I had to be delayed...I was so close!!! I had made so many February sleeve friends and was so excited to start this journey with them. I'm still excited to follow their progress but I look forward to making new March sleeve friends.

Today I went to see an orthopedic surgeon and found out I have ruptured my Achilles' tendon and fx my heel bone. I have to have surgery to fix this and it is scheduled for Monday. Unfortunately, this is the exact day I was scheduled for my sleeve. My sleeve has now been rescheduled for march 21...
