I won't regret this...right?
Brinajean1991 replied to JengaBee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You won't regret it. I had my surgery September 10th. I've lost 60 lbs and I'm on goal to lose 80 more to be 120 lbs, which is my goal. It is hard one of the hardest things you will ever do. You will have ups and downs but in the end it's worth it. You won't miss the person you used to be, you'll never want to go back. I can now sit in a movie theater seat, fit in xl pants instead of xxxl, wear a size 9 shoe instead of 10, I'm able to stand on my feet all day without pain. You might have regrets in the beginning but in he end you will be thankful that you had the strength to do it. -

Anyone just been sleeved in the last week? (18th Sept today)
Brinajean1991 replied to septsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 10th also. I was only supposed to be in the hospital over night but begged to stay another day, thankfully my doctor agreed I wasn't ready to go home. Day of surgery was rough, especially after, I was up and walking 20 minutes after being put in my room. I walked the halls at least every hour. The gas pain was awful, a pain I hope to never experience again. I kept down everything, only time I felt ill was after the leak test. The nurses where friendly and helpful. I received alot of pain medicine, not due to the incisions but due to the gas pain. I was able to have ice and water after my surgery before my leak test, which I will be ever greatful for. I think I've done well in the week after surgery. I've taken lots of pain medicine though. I'm not on full liquids, I walk 5 times or more a day on the treadmill, and have managed to lose 15lbs in the week. Even though I had all the pain, this surgery was worth it, I will always be thankful to Dr Weiss for everything. This has changed my life for the better. -
Yes I had the sleeve. Went off without a hitch. I was in surgery about 30 minutes. Dr Weiss is very talented.

My Dr was Dr Weiss, he's a amazing doctor. I used to live in Ashland. Never looked at Ashland for a surgeon though. -
2 days post-op, need advice about "air bubble" pain with sipping
Brinajean1991 replied to Hugs :)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 10th, the gas pain is the worst thing I have ever experienced. I had the same exact pain you are describing. I was told that they are mussel spasms in the esophagus. They do go away, unfortunately there is nothing yiu can do to make them go away. That's just what my doctor said. -
I started at Georgetown in February of this year. He moved so I went with him. I would recommend calling his office or stopping by. I know a few weeks before my surgery I stopped in four days in a row to get things straightened out. Once they sent off the insurance papers I heard back in 3 days. Was told to go on my high protein diet and had a group meeting. Then a week later I had surgery. If you can get in there and have him as your surgeon you will be in awesome hands.

Dr George Derek Weiss , he is at Bluegrass Bariatric in Lexington Kentucky. He's the only Bliss rated doctor in Kentucky. He takes many insurances, including medicare and medicade. He preformed my surgery on September 10th. I was up and walking aferocious 20 minutes in my room. His staff is helpful and supportive. And post surgery you're allowed to have water and ice before the swallow test, which is rare. I'm glad that I stayed with him through the whole process.
