    Woke!up choking

I'm sitting here shaking after i woke up choking on vomit and stomach acid. Has anyone has this happen? I'm about 7 weeks out from surgery. I'm feeling pretty freaked right now.
  2. Oh, I understand what you meant. Sorry. Well, what I can tell you is that the sleeve works. It really does. But, it is only a tool that you need to use properly. If emotional eating is your problem, seek help for that prior to the surgery. Get into the habit of picking up something positive to do that doesn't involve food in order to cope. Make sure you are drinking enough Water and drinking it throughout the day. Make sure you have a good support system in place BEFORE your surgery so that it will go as smoothly as possible. Nothing is 100% effective, and NOTHING is 100% fool-proof without complications. But if you open your eyes, your ears, and your mind to the possibilities and understand all of that, you will be successful. Good luck, and may the force be with you. H

    Elusive Onederland - No more!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I know exactly how you feel because I hit 299 on Christmas Eve, the first time I've been under 300 lbs in over 9 years. I can't WAIT to see what Onederland looks like! Only 96 lbs to go! Keep up the amazing work! Keep us posted! Heather
  4. Yes, right here! While I lost 85 lbs initially, the complications I had with the band (inability to eat due to getting stuck on freaking Water, constant vomiting, hernia, constant pain, etc) caused me to have to get the band completely unfilled. This lead to a 50 lb weight gain. While my band was unfilled, I did three rounds of Insanity, Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, T25, did 5Ks twice a month, and STILL gained all that weight back. Now that I've had the sleeve about two months, I've lost 57 lbs with very minor issues (reflux, but it's treatable with an acid blocker). I wish I'd done the sleeve the first time, but I always have to do things the hard way. Do what is right for you, but go in with your eyes open. I wish you the very best of luck! Heather

    Woke!up choking

Update: I've not had this happen since the once incident. Thanks for all the advice about not eating or drinking before bedtime. That night, I'd had dinner pretty late due to work and was laying flat on my back while sleeping. I've also made sure that I'm sleeping on my side or propped up if my reflux is a bit hinky. Thanks again to everyone for your advice. Have a great new year! Heather

This is me doing an SCA demo about 3 months prior to surgery. I was about 10 lbs away from my heaviest weight ever. I can't even fit in this garb anymore - it's like a tent on me!

    Women monthly cycle

i got mine 2days post op, so I'm monitoring this next one closely. As someone with horrible cycles, I'm kind of hoping for a break this month.
  14. Instead of a lawsuit, I would much rather see the band permanently removed from the market.
  15. I'm six days out, and the best piece of advice I can give you is to have people around you who will really help support you. My husband is a god among men who is my rock. I could not do this without him, and he has been amazing. I have several friends who have been through this and are checking up on me as well, cheering me on. Good luck to you. You can do this. Pain!

Hi all. So I've been chugging along, doing great...until this morning. I coughed and all of a sudden it felt like a knife in my belly. It's still really tender, but now I'm all scared that I've ripped something in there. It's under one of my smaller incisions. It's not hot or warm, no bruising. Anyone else have this issue? Of course this would happen the day before i go back to work. ???? any advice would be most appreciated. Heather

    Pain!

Ok, I called. Basically, I'm just gonna have to suffer through it. Hooray. At least I don't have to go back in.

    Pain!

Yeah i was going to call when they opened.
  19. Hey all, I am two days out from surgery. I have zero appetite. I've sipped on a clear Protein shake all day, but have little appetite for anything else. Is this normal? My husband is getting upset that I am not eating, but I literally have no desire for food right now. Any advice would be great. Thanks. Heather

    No desire to eat

    Awesome. Thanks for the advice.

    No desire to eat

Right, I barely have any desire to drink anything. I did find this awesome nectar Protein drink, but I can't get any more until next Friday (gotta love payday and sample packs). Water makes me a bit nauseous but I've heard that's normal. I told my husband he needs to relax, that I'm ok, but he's a bit freaked out that I don't want anything.

    October sleevers

just had my revision (band to sleeve) on Wednesday. OMG...my tummy hurts.
  23. Good morning, I am two days away from surgery, and I have been fighting allergies and congestion. I am afraid that they are going to cancel my surgery because of it. Has anyone gone in with allergy issues or congestion and had the surgery? Maybe I'm panicking over nothing, but I am seriously worried now. Heather

    Getting sick before surgery?

Hey Dub, it's mostly just congestion as soon as I wake up. Throat is a bit raw, but I've been battle laryngitis for the past week (hooray teaching!). I'm keeping hydrated and trying to get enough rest. I don't feel short of breath, wheezy, or icky other than that. I am not running a fever. I've been fighting for two years to have this surgery, and I would hate for it to be derailed by simple allergy congestion. :\ Thanks for your advice, Heather
