Getting sick before surgery?
Heather Feather replied to Heather Feather's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, y'all. I'm calling the surgeon's off now. The congestion isn't terribly bad, but I just don't want anything to jeopardize this or make me reschedule. I know waiting a week wouldn't be bad, but I've already garnered a sub for my classes and everyone has already planned for my absence. Grrr...darn you, Texas allergies! -

Nope, I'm on the 28th, but I know exactly how you feel. Tomorrow is a new beginning. I wish you the very best of luck! Keep us posted! -
ARE THERE ANY OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2015 SLEEVERS OUT THERE?
Heather Feather replied to BackToBeautiful's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is in 10 days. TEN DAYS! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! -
While I understand that every experience is different, this does give me a bit a of hope. My lap-band recovery was awful. I'm really hoping my sleeve recovery is easier.

Chocolate craving
Heather Feather replied to Tssiemer1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain. I'm 4 days into my pre-op diet, but it's getting better. I curb the chocolate cravings by having chocolate protein shakes and sugar-free chocolate pudding. There's always a way! YOU CAN DO THIS! -
Hi everyone, I teach high school English, and I am about a month out from surgery. Our next break is Thanksgiving break. I really want to go ahead with the surgery and not wait that long...but then I am concerned about recovery time. When I had my band, I had it over Spring Break and the surgeon insisted on doing it late in the week. I ended up only having about three days of recovery before going back to teaching. Anyway, I'm looking for some advice. Would I be able to take a full week and be ok to come back and teach? What if I sit down and teach? Any advice would be most appreciated. I am very excited to have the surgery, but I also want to do the right thing. Thanks, Heather

How much time to take off?

Well, life is attempting to throw a curve ball and now surgery is scheduled for October 14th. I guess one week it is! -
Surgery set for 16th October
Heather Feather replied to jen85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! my date is (tentatively) set for 14 October. I am really excited to get this band out and get the sleeve. I lost 85 lbs on the band but regained 35 when they had to unfill it due to severe complications. This has been a two-year fight to get this revision, and I am just a nutritionist visit, sleep study, and stress test away from surgery! Of course, I had to schedule ALL of that in the same week because I am READY! Then, it's two weeks of lovely Protein shakes until I change my life forever. This journey is going to be awesome. I can't wait to get started. Heather -
How much time to take off?
Heather Feather replied to Heather Feather's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all, thanks so much for your responses. As a teacher, taking any block of time off is especially difficult. It's even worse if you teach a tested subject like I do (freshman English). I do NOT want to short-change myself this go-round, but I'm also hampered by the time constraints. Though it will be tough to wait, I think I might set my surgery to a few days before Thanksgiving break. That way, I'm only taking 3 days and then will have the entire week plus two weekends to recover. I hope that will be enough. If not, I'll have to slog through three more weeks before Christmas break. I would do it tomorrow if I could! -
Band to sleeve in one surgery. Who's had it done that way? How long had you had your band? What was your recovery like? Any complications? Regrets?

Any teachers out there...returning to work?
Heather Feather replied to ForLfKlovr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am pre-surgery band-to-sleeve, possibly getting it done a month from now. I don't want to wait until Thanksgiving...but should I?
