Young and in the first steps
cassie32104 replied to mstolfi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just want to wish you good luck. I have been heavy all of my life and I would've jumped at the opportunity to have WLS at 18. I think having it this early will be great because you will learn your new healthy habits that will carry you into adulthood. It will definitely make your 20s much easier Again, good luck to you! -
I'm paranoid because I'm doing so well, if that makes sense. :/

I am almost 5 months out and I had a very similar experience. I didn't have any complications at all. It was easy for me to eat pureed foods- I limited myself. I even commented to my surgeon that I didn't feel restriction. That changed when I switched to chunky then regular foods. Once I started eating solids, I could feel the restriction. My doctor told me it is easier for the pureed/liquid to slide through whereas the solids take time. Restriction will come! -
It's not recommended by some nutritionist (including mine) because it is a Protein blend. My NUT wants the first ingredient to be whey Protein whereas Premier's first ingredient is "protein blend".

So embarrassing but...I gotta ask anyway! Is anyone else suffering with horrible gas? Can this be treated?
cassie32104 replied to armywife79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take Devrom also- it is an internal deodorizer. It helps tremendously! I doesn't get rid of the gas, but it makes the smell much, much better! I don't mind the gas as long as the smell is gone! I highly recommend. -
It's story time!
cassie32104 replied to sassyfrass23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way. I wish I could tell you to stop worrying about it, but I know that there was no way I could! I met all the qualifications, but still worried myself to death about being approved. I was approved the first time....within 48 hrs of submission! I was prepared to argue with the insurance company if I needed to, because I absolutely knew I met all the requirements. I was also prepared to finance surgery if I were denied, not having surgery was just not an option in my head! -
I won't regret this...right?
cassie32104 replied to JengaBee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 5 weeks out and haven't had one single regret so far. It is awesome to no longer have to take medication for diabetes, fit into smaller clothes, and not be out of breath! -
Help! I need recommendations

I love the unjury brand shakes- my favorite is chocolate Splendor. Remember, everyone's taste are different. Syntrex nectar powders are another one of my favorites- Choc Truffle. I am a chocolate lover! -
Change of plans..

I was going for the sleeve...until I found out I was diabetic. I am 1 week post op and have not taken diabetes medication since the day before surgery. -
PatchMD Vitamin Patches
cassie32104 replied to melps's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist doesn't want me using. Says they are not formulated for Bariatric patients and the absorption rate varies. -
Yay! The first 4 days were very rough for me, but once you get past that, it gets better! (I am on day 14!!)

BMI drop through nutritionist. Concerned can't have surgery?

That's awesome news! -
BMI drop through nutritionist. Concerned can't have surgery?
cassie32104 replied to staceyahanus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will depend on your insurance policy. With many, you can be 35 or greater with comorbids to qualify, but which comorbids qualify you, again depends on your insurance. You should call your insurance company and get a copy of the policy for bariatric surgery. -
Waiting is so hard
cassie32104 replied to citygirl1962's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Waiting is very hard! I understand- I had to do a 6 month supervised diet before I could even be submitted to the insurance company! My dad is finally almost here (11/4), so the wait has been worth it. I am on my 13th day of my liquid pre-op diet today and it has been hard! I have only physically been hungry a small handful of times, but head hunger is real! I have made it through, without cheating at all, so I know you can do it! Good luck to you in your journey. -
It's here!.....surgery tomorrow

cassie32104 replied to HappyNean32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First I would call the insurance company again. Ask them to look again, sometimes there are several places for them to look. I know this from experience! Tell them your surgeon's office said they submitted it. If they still can't find it, I'd call the surgeon's office. -

I am a second grade teacher and I am scared to death that I'll get sick before Monday. Pray and use lots of hanitizer...that's also known as hand sanitizer to my kids. Haha! I use "hanitizer" all the time! -
Need support...
cassie32104 replied to Finding myself again's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 7 of my pre-op diet and it is hard! I'm not sure what your diet is, but mine is only liquids. I felt pretty crappy for the first 4 days- headaches, no energy. I started to perk up on day 5 and have been doing much better since then. I haven't had a headache since morning of day 4 and doing much better. This pre-op diet is no joke, that's for sure! Good luck to you!
