  2. My preop diet sounds the exactly the same! I have to use Bariatric Advantage for my Protein supplement (1 every 3-4 hrs). I am in the ATL, GA area.
  3. Found out I was approved! I am a day behind you- I start preop diet on 10/21 and surgery on 11/4!

    Got awesome news today!

No, sorry. I have BCBS. I hope your approval comes super fast!
  5. OMG! OMG! I just talked to my coordinator and my surgery was approved!! I am scheduled for 11/4/15! I cannot believe it!! :D
  6. @Dream4tc The coordinator at the surgeon's office said it should take about 2 weeks. I have BCBS, so hopefully it's sooner rather than later! I am a school nurse and already have a sub set up for the potential time in November and I hope it works out- it is difficult to get a sub! My coordinator said the date I gave her (11/9) shouldn't be a problem, so fingers crossed!!
  7. My paperwork was submitted to insurance on Monday. I just checked with my insurance and they said it is processing. Impatiently waiting........
  8. That is so exciting! Congratulations! I am hoping for November also. My insurance company has my paperwork so I am playing the waiting game right now waiting for approval.
  9. I had my last visit with dietician this past Friday. She went over a lot with me. One thing you should ask is what type of Protein powder should you be using? My dietician says first ingredient has to be whey isolate (there aren't many out there- most are a blend).

    Today is Surgery Day!

    How exciting! Good luck!
  11. Ugh...my insurance require I do a 6 month supervised diet, so that is why I have been seeing the dietician. The dietician is part of my surgeons office. It has helped me prepare and make some changes before surgery. As far as losing weight- they want me to maintain. My insurance requires a 40 bmi or 35 with one comorbid (which I now have-Diabetes). Before I found out I was diabetic, I had a 40 bmi so if I lost any weight, I wouldn't qualify for surgery. Now that I found out I have diabetes (found out in June) I have a little more slack and have actually lost 10 pounds. I also had to have my gallbladder removed this past July- so it has been a busy last 3 months! I will be so happy to have my 6th appointment tomorrow so they can submit! Then the waiting game with the insurance begins!
  12. Hi everyone. I am also hoping to have surgery in November. I originally planned for the sleeve, but have since changed my mind. I have reflux and I found out during this process that I have diabetes. It was a hard decision to switch to bypass because I had my mind set on the sleeve for so long, but I know I will do better with bypass in the long run. I am have my last nutrition visit for my 6 required by my insurance- #6 is on 9/25 and I am so excited! After my visit on Friday, I will have all requirements met and then my surgeon's office can submit for insurance approval. Wish me luck!

    loosing weight before surgery

Definitely check with your insurance/policy. I am in a similar situation. My particular company told me I have to meet all of the requirements to qualify- one being 40 bmi or 35 bmi w/comorbids. So if I drop below that when it is submitted, I won't meet the requirements and will be denied. My surgeons office just told me to make sure I maintain my current weight.
