Hi. I have heard many people on here use the term "honeymoon phase" but I'm curious as to what this means. As I understand it, one goes through am initial phase where restriction due to the sleeve makes weight loss easier. But, there comes a time when people experience less restriction which then makes it more difficult? Is this accurate? If not, how do you see it? When does the honeymoon phase typically end? I'm really thrilled with my sleeve right now, I'm almost six weeks post-op. I still drink 2-3 Protein drinks a day and am eating puréed foods but really don't have much room for much. Im working on being mindful of where my limits are. I've had a few times where I think I ate too fast and felt discomfort. I have little interest at this time in many of the junk foods I used to crave. It was so amazing for me to be able to not have a Krispy Kreme when a co-worker brought them into work. In the past it would have been so difficult. So, I feel like I'm kind of in a honeymoon phase. Does it get harder over time?

Wowee. I'd be eating popcorn and guzzling Coke Zero as I read this if I still had half a stomach left. This has turned into a bit of a brawl. It really feels like people are all riled up here. I would hope we could all cool it a bit and move on, trying to be kind to each other who have made and are making this huge life change. So far, this bariatric pal has been an incredibly helpful resource for me, a newbie. I really appreciate the advice from the Veterans on here and hope they don't leave. And I also love all the questions people ask as they explore the results of their surgery and how they will choose to live post-surgery and I hope they do not stop asking questions.

I'm of the opinion that people need to weigh the pros and cons of their dietary habits for themselves. I personally plan to eat in moderation in the long-term and not knock anything off my list unless it bothers my stomach or is not congruent with my own health values. My doc eats like a rabbit and has advised never to return to white foods, eg potatoes, chips. Good advise but I'd eventually like to eat a little serving of chips and salsa at some point. I personally don't plan to resume my Diet Coke habit at any point due to my tendency to then not drink enough water, but that's me knowing my personal limits. Others are different. I think it is highly unlikely that two sips of carbonated beverage is going to wreck your suture line.

Nausea today after feeling great
kadie777 replied to kadie777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I woke up today feeling better. I'm transitioning to soft foods so it may have been something I ate? How far are you out from surgery? -
I'm 5 weeks out and had been feeling great since about 48 hours after surgery. I was very nauseous for about 24 hours following surgery, miserable. Since then, I would occasionally wake up with mild nausea which would go away after a protein shake. But, today I have experienced waves of nausea throughout the day. Is this common? Any advice? Thanks!

I am almost five weeks out and 25 pounds down from my surgery weight. I have more energy and feel like I can concentrate better. I feel like I will now be able to eat more congruently with my values and health. I'm thrilled. Best wishes to you on your surgery. -

Can I increase my protein this way?
kadie777 replied to reachbree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can order a sample pack from bariatric pal store I believe. -
I put "fart" into the search engine and voilà. I've been experiencing farts since I started adding a superfood powder to my protein drinks. Yikes! Fortunately I'm drinking these shakes after work and I've had only farts in the evenings. Otherwise I feel great with the added supplement.

Truthful Regrets, Anyone?
kadie777 replied to Tiff187's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I woke up out of anesthesia to major regret and this lasted about 36 hours until the nausea dissipated. I am now four weeks out and overall I feel good about my decision. There are moments where I feel mild regret; this occurs typically when I'm at a restaurant with family or at a work lunch (last lunch was carne asada tacos ). At the time of surgery I weighed 240 and I'm down to 216. I'm starting to feel it in how my clothes fit, how I am able to get around easier, and how much my face has thinned up. I also am surprised by how much energy I have now despite still getting in under 800 calories. The first 2-3 weeks after surgery I was tired. Now that I'm getting in more Protein and starting to eat soft foods, I'm feeling better. I think it is normal to have regrets at times though. Following the surgery, I was so miserable and felt the nausea would not go away. I remember remarking on how awful I felt and a nurse said something like "it will get better but it is a big change to your system having 90% of your stomach removed. It was then that it really hit me that I had elected to have them remove almost a full body part. I was pretty scared and regretful at that moment. But, now four weeks out, I feel back to myself. I wish the best for all on here and hope you keep us posted. To the folks who have had complications, I'm so sorry to hear this. That would be scary and I would totally have regrets. I hope you are able to get medical and emotional support to cope with this and move forward with recovery. -

Hey Jen, would love to have you join us. My insurance did not require nutrition visits. When you consult at Dr Srikanth's office, their care coordinator will confirm your insurance requirements and then provide you with referral options. -

Fat upper pubic area - that dangling kangaroo pouch, so attractive. And jiggly. Hahaha! Love it!
