New at this but back in the Game! Houston, Texas
lauriev replied to Skinny592's topic in Singles Forum
WTG - I am getting there myself! Not single right now, but will be there somewhere around the end of this month -
I know it is not nearly the same thing, but today I thought I was going to DIE if I didn't get some flipping chocolate. I had chocolate in my desk drawer, but I resisted. Instead I went in the kitchen and got some hot green tea with a Splenda in it and went on....I skipped the candy and went on about my business!!!!!

well snap....I thought I had found the answer with these.....back to the drawing board

I haven't tried them yet, but I ordered them from the Bariatric Pal store, they should be in this week. I am like you, had no issues drinking the Protein drinks prior to surgery, but can't deal with them anymore.

3500 calorie pound scientifically debunked

3500 calorie pound scientifically debunked
lauriev replied to jess9395's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I knew that had to be wrong....right up there with the muscle weighs more than fat argument. I hate that phrase!! A pound of fat, a pound of muscle - both one pound; they just take up different amounts of space. -
Has anyone ordered from the store? I placed an order on 12/30 and as of today it still shows unfulfilled on the website. I knew there would be a slow down because of the holidays, but I thought by today they would have done something with the order. Just curious if anyone else had ordered stuff and what their experience was.
-
What I find to be unacceptable is the lack of communication that there were issues with the move and slow downs in shipping. Had I known that I would have ordered differently. I work in logistics, we would NEVER treat a customer that way. I could have ordered my Vitamins and things from Amazon, paid a little bit more, but had them in two days. The other thing that kind of irks me is that even after all that, once they shipped it they shipped it economy so I still won't receive my purchase until Thursday of next week. Orders that are a month late shipping should have shipped priority at the company's expense.

I finally got notification yesterday that my order had shipped. Apparently there were some delays when they moved the warehousing around, found that information in another thread where folks were complaining. I guess they didn't say anything to people unless you called them and complained. This was my first order so I wasn't sure if it was always slow or if it was just holidays - apparently it was a combination of holidays and moving.

thanks for the info @@DaisyAmy, maybe I will hear something tomorrow.

@@MIMISAN, have you tried adding in MIO or Crystal Light or any of the other enhancers? That's how I got started drinking more Water, I added in flavor to it until I could stand to drink it.

another thing I do is take a bottle of water with me everywhere. Like some others I start my day with a glass of water while I am getting dressed. When I get ready to leave for work my bottle is almost empty so I refill it on the way out the door and sip on it my whole drive to work. By the time I walk in my office I have at least 30 ounces.

Hairless and vitamins

I am having the hardest time getting the Protein in, thanks for the tricks on getting more @Kindle. I get in a rut thinking that I need to mix the powder and make a drink out of it, I don't think about mixing it in food. I am getting so tired of drinking everything - I just want some food even if it is only pudding or yogurt!! I also bought some Biotin from Target pharmacy, it is melt a way tablets and they are pretty tiny. I am taking them, not sure if they are doing anything or not, but I am taking them religiously. I figure it can't hurt! -
They use the weight from your first visit to get your insurance verification normally. I was like you, I was just barely at 40 BMI; in fact if I had not worn heavy blue jeans, boots and had my cell phone in my pocket when they weighed me in the first time I am not sure that I would have made 40.

Home alone after surgery
lauriev replied to Tweety40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on a Friday, got out of the hospital on Saturday. My best friend took me to the hospital and stayed during my surgery then came back and picked me up on Saturday. I went home with her and stayed at her house Saturday night. I spent Sunday with her and drove myself home on Sunday. I wasn't able to return to work until Thursday, but I spent Monday through Wednesday in my house by myself. I didn't have any issues, the worst thing for me was getting up and down, especially out of bed. My right side was very sore so I figured out to roll onto my left side and to not try to sit up to get out of bed but rather to roll all the way over on my left side using the night stand to sort of do a push up off of to get out of bed. The other thing that caused me problems was getting up after I had been sitting for a long period - best advice I can give you is to get up frequently and move! -
December 2015 or January 2016 sleevers ?
lauriev replied to neequa25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can say that getting the water in gets easier and easier. My surgery was 12/4 and I am able to drink water exactly like I did before surgery and have been for over a week. Hang in there - it will get better before you know it. -

I have gone off plan a few times as well; some worked out for me, some not so much. Like you, any thing I did I chewed until it was pretty much liquid because I was afraid not to. I also am afraid that I am going to stretch my new tummy back out! -
Traveling- 5 weeks out
lauriev replied to Wildtreegirl81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I traveled to Florida a week after my surgery. I was on total liquids so I got a couple of Protein drinks at the first nutrition store I passed. I did some enchilada Soup at a Chili's and the restaurant in the hotel I stayed in served French Onion soup. We ate dinner at a BJ's Brewhouse and I just had some mashed potatoes (they were not on my plan but there wasn't a whole lot there that I could have) One thing I did when I was in the restaurants was tell my waitress that I had just had bariatric surgery so they would understand when I only ate a few bites of things. The waitress at the hotel really went out of her way to get me something that was on my plan which I truly appreciated. The first bowl of soup she brought me had a lot of cheese and croutons in it, she sent it back without me even saying anything and told the kitchen I needed more of the broth and leave the croutons out. -
Echocardiogram HELL NO
lauriev replied to MRSJONES305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first doctor I went to was like that too. He needed a sleep study that was 900.00 out of pocket, and a bunch of other stuff all out of pocket. I went to another doctor who didn't need any of that stuff and got me cleared through my insurance with no issues. -
Now I understand why we dont tell people we are getting the sleeve...
lauriev replied to Scottyd1264's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually did have a friend that had weight loss surgery years ago that passed away. She passed away not because of the surgery, but because she didn't do the right things after she had it. She had bypass surgery so she had a problem with malabsorption (sp?), she did not follow the guidelines, plain and simple. Armed with this knowledge I have made it my mission to ensure that I get my Protein, Water and Vitamins. I didn't use her experience as a negative against weight loss surgery, I used it as a learning experience. -

I told no one but my best friend who took me to the hospital and took care of me after my surgery. I didn't even tell my soon to be ex-husband. He left to go to Chili two days before my surgery and didn't get back until a week later so there was really no reason. Interestingly enough he has not said a word about my 20 lb weight loss or my new eating habits..... -
New sleevers how are you doing
lauriev replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Chefchazz, don't fret - every time I start a a new workout program I end up gaining a pound or two before I start losing. Just keep doing what you are doing and things will fall exactly into place. I have not really started working out, just walking. I have been doing some light jogging with the newest dog we got and I seem to be losing .5 to 1 pound a week, although I will be the first to admit I am not doing a great job of getting in my Protein and Fluid. After Christmas I am going to have to get me some unflavored Protein powder to mix into things - need some serious help in the protein department. -

My friend taught me to buy Ramen noodles, cook the broth and toss the noodles. It has more flavor than broth! She said that's what she did after her gastric bypass because the broth didn't have enough flavor for her. -
ok, before I had my surgery (12/4) I would take Excedrine Migraine at least 5 times a week for headaches. Since my surgery I have not had one single headache! v I am guessing that my problem must have been some food allergy that is gone since I cut everything out of my diet at this point. Trick now I guess is to make sure I write down every morsel that goes into my face so if I get a headache I can maybe find the problem food.

oh my gosh, the last couple of days I have been shaking I was so cold. Last night I went to bed and had two blankets plus the bedspread on me. I was still cold so I went to the living room and got my electric throw blanket and put that on me too!!! I am always cold so nobody thinks twice about me walking around with a jacket in 100 degree weather, but wow....
