Depressing Dr appointment
Laurinda replied to QuincyGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart that really does suck! I didn't go through my pcp I went to a physicians weight lose clinic and the doc there wrote my letter. My pcp didn't want anything to do with it because I was going through this diet program. Good-Luck to you! Don't give up!! -
:huh2: Howdy! Good-Luck to you!

First fill - 4.5 ccs and still no change!!
Laurinda replied to drtifg's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My first fill hurt like heck! I told my husband it was like sticking a fork into a raw steak and wiggling it around. The second fill was MUCH better! As for restriction...careful there. I do understand and have had the same feelings of gee it was good the first DAY <lol> but getting over comfortable could cause you to have a stuck. Just when you think you have no restriction....lol ya feel it <wink> over the last few days I have been feeling it more and my last fill was 3/21. Then I get to hear hubby ask "ya stuck?" "Did ya chew?" God love him! -
Help! I need a motrin substitute!!!
Laurinda replied to success4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never been told no Motrin and I have no problems as of yet taking it. I just cut it up small or crush it. -
I have found I can no longer eat oranges, even if I take the time to peel them completely. I am able to eat some bread but only full grain types, they seem to go down better. I eat very little meat but I eat some. I enjoy tofu and it works well for me. I have read many different things for many different people. Eat slow and chew well, you will learn what works for you!

Husband Eating Everything!!!!
Laurinda replied to Ashlii1432's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree you have the right to be ticked! I also agree that talking to him and telling him how you feel and your needs is the best thing to do (to start) -
I was banded on 1/16 and have had two fills. I have some restriction but nothing like I have read here on the board. I have never slimmed nor pb'd. I have been stuck once but for the most part I call it pressurized lol. I feel the pressure in my chest and I am uncomfortable but it passes quickly . I have found deep breathing helps sometimes and pineapple juice helps EVERY time (wonderful tip I picked up here)

I was banded on 1/16 and I have had to fills. I have some restriction now. I'm about 42 down right now.

I LOVE my coffee and drink it daily. I too drink the strong stuff. I have had no problems drinking it and I asked my doc about it and he said it was ok. When it comes to Starbucks I have gone to the skinny latte so I can have my flavored drinks without all the extra fat of specialty drinks. :cursing:

I have found something very, very tasty and I have not seen it anywhere here on the board. Please don't get me wrong,it may be mentioned here, I just haven't seen it. "South Beach Living on the go" It's the little packets you add to water to flavor em. I really like these best because they are made to go in a 16.9 bottle, not 20 ( I buy water by the case and it always seems to be 16.9) It has an awesome taste (I am drinking Strawberry/Banana right now) and it has protein (this flavor has 3 gm) granted it's not a ton but it's a bonus when ya gotta get your water in daily! ~L~

I was just curious about ya'lls experience with weight lose between your surgery and your first fill. Did you lose? Gain? Stay the same? My surgeon said I would probably gain during this time. I have actually lost a few pounds and go in for my first fill next week. I was just wondering how this time went for everyone else ? :biggrin2:

I'm a dork I admit. I have read many times about people getting "stuck" and I thought I got the concept of the meaning. Let me share what happened yesterday and maybe I can get ya'll input as to what may have happened. Since my surgery my doctor said I could pretty much eat what I want (no stages) If I got stuck drink something. Well I have tried to pretty much eat the softer foods etc because of everything I have read here... I have noticed that I have not had ANY problems and I was told pretty much I would have no restriction until my first fill next month. YESTERDAY pizza was brought into the house and I peeled the topping off a piece and ate it. No problem. Maybe feeling a little over confident or whatever I then took a bite, ONE bite of pizza and I swallowed and OMG I thought I was gonna die. I felt this right away and I had a pressure in my chest that scared the heck outta me. If this was "stuck" it was dead center in my chest and happened the minute I swallowed. Is this what "Getting stuck" is? I have had a tight/pressure feeling in my chest two more times since yesterday and it has ALWAYS happened after I took a bite???

Good-Luck with that! I told family memebers I am trying to eat right and healthy. My mom stops by bringing dougnuts one day, pizza the next. Thanks mom?

Hey there! Do yourself a favor and STOP reading the complication part of this board! Please don't get me wrong it's a great place to ask questions and what not if you are having problems but well you are waitng to be band this stuff sure can scare you! (Ok I read it all too before being band) When getting second thoughts about surgery I had to remind myself that ALL surgeries have risk. BUT what if in the future I needed emergency surgery, open heart surgery, ANY surgery and I did not get this weight off? I think THAT would be more of a risk. I would rather have a surgeon and anesthesiologist who dealt with "heavy" people <now> then remain heavy and have an emergency. This was my "pep" talk I gave myself when I was getting cold feet! I am so very glad I got my band! Good-Luck to you!

I agree, go on liquids for your next few days. I re-gained 20 pounds in the 6 months I waited around for the insurance to go through. I wish I hadn't but I did, I have since re-lost the weight and am moving forward! Good-Luck to you!!!

MINOR? Dear God I was ready for 911! Ok maybe not 911 but it scared the stew outta me. So it's normal to feel it in your chest when your stuck? Some how I thought it would be more in your stomach. Thanks for the info!
