Wow...what is wrong with people!!!??
Laurinda replied to 2BtinyinTN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like your "friend" can't stand the thought that you have made a discussion to better yourself. For me I don't even bother to talk about it. I just do my thang and know in the end I will be so very glad I did! Good-Luck -
WOW congrats on your 1 year and your awesome weight lose!!! I would be flattered too with such an offer! Well I am not one to feel comfortable in front of the camera the idea of maybe motivating someone else would be something to conceder. < For me> have you talked to your family about it yet? Most definitely a personal choice! But if you do it post the add so we can see!!! :biggrin2:

<smh> People are such dorks! I am sorry you had to go back to that. Sounds very immature to me. The person passing out the cookies, does she have a weight problem? I know I have two heavy women ( ok I'm three) where I work and sometimes weight lose issues can become awkward. ( I don't even talk about it) Do you think your "friend" could be feeling threatened? You just hang in there babe and when your able to eat again YOU be the one passing out the soy chips and hummus ! <wink> -
Ditto my comment up there Mrsflipflops you really are something special and I wish you the best of luck!

Do you sometimes NOT like the changes you see in the mirror?
Laurinda replied to dancinglamb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok Kate that made me both laugh and become scared lol. I think when I go out tomorrow looking for bras I will bypass the sales person and just take one of every size in the fitting room. ( I say that but I can bypass A-C ) At this point I am not looking for anything pretty just practical..ok industrial even. I just want to be able to adjust the straps like a pulley "higher, higher, higher"! <wink> -
I think I need to STOP reading these boards!!
Laurinda replied to lipara's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
(I've done that before and it's not the proudest moment! You don't know shame until you have a police escort on a motorcycle who yells "That's the last one" as you cross the finish line!!) Laughing, laughing, laughing!! No shame in being last! Being there was pretty dang amazing! (and not just watching like I might have been) As for these boards.... What seems like something scary can be very educational and inspirational! Read the positive ones too! They can truly be motivating and up lifting. Remember when in doubt (or pain) always call your doctor to be safe! :cursing: -
Do you sometimes NOT like the changes you see in the mirror?
Laurinda replied to dancinglamb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
"Almost as if my thighs have their OWN thighs!!! HTF did that happen??! Is it going to get better?" I am rolling here laughing!!! Bless your heart I hear ya. I looked in the mirror in the past and would go "ewwww" now I look in the mirror and go "EWWWWWW" lol The only thing I take comfort in at this time is the fact that clothed it works  :cryin: And bras.....OMG... I have been battling with mine for the past week or two. Putting one on taking it off putting one on taking it off. I would look in the mirror and be like "What the hell is wrong with these things, they ain't working like they used to" ( the bras)<laughing> then it dawns on my that duh I have lost 60 lbs and maybe I should get new ones? ( bras) Then back to the mirror ewwwww. Well we did this for health reasons < right?> ( looks around) lol the "new" old skin is just a side effect...in an ewww kinda way lol  :cursing: -
You are amazing! You have made a TON of sacrifices and I think that is really something. You have every right to be frustrated at times but as a caregiver you lay the guilt on yourself too. You need to pat yourself on the back and allow yourself the right to be tired and or irritated when it happens. My husband and I are caregivers for both his mother and mine (they both live with us) this is not my post so I won't go on and on about my situation but I do know and understand that if you do not allow yourself a break and not be your own worst critic the road becomes longer, darker and the bumps turn into POT HOLES!!!! You my dear are really something special <takes hat off to you>

WOW you toss seeds and just cover with dirt? This works for you? I think I would take an acid thumb over a toxic one any day!!! The only thing I can grow is dirt...oh yeah and sand dollars <ty ty ty > Hey glad the burn is brown! :cursing:

Second Weigh in / Insurance / Sigh
Laurinda replied to justpeachytexas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know what you mean about the 6 month diet you have to do before insurance will look at paying for the surgery. I made sure to lose weight but near the end of my six months I also made sure not to lose to much. I feared if I did the insurance would say "Hey you can do it by yourself" If I could "do it by myself" and keep it off I wouldn't have looked into the band! -
Who knows? Sometimes the information you get and the information you read here don't jive. I was told after surgery I could eat anything I wanted and if I got stuck drink something <this information from my doctor> I read here that it wasn't a good idea to eat anything I wanted and HECK NO NEVER DRINK SOMETHING IF YOUR STUCK!!! I took the advise of the board and am very grateful I did. I love my doctor 100% but for information I love this board a whole lot more :wink2:

Crazy "sweet spot" question....what next?
Laurinda replied to Laurinda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not 100% sure the size of my band. When I asked the doctor he rattled off some numbers and letters? I know I have 3 cc in right now. He said "most" women go up to about 5 cc < I am sure his patients > I am happy with my restriction just curious about the next one < when the time comes > -
<Shivers> OMG I should say you had one heck of a day!! I am so sorry to read about both families. Such sadness yes.
-
OMG 120 pounds??? You go!!! That is something to be VERY proud of and obviously you have been doing something right! You don't have to put up with that negative attitude from ANYONE. Call the office and tell them you would like to make an appointment with anyone but ( Person's name here) Let it be known that her bed side manner leaves much to be desired! Why should you put off YOUR health and well being because you don't want to subject yourself to someone else's rudeness? ( someone that YOU pay btw) I bet if you speak up you will find you are not the only person who has been treated this way  Good-luck to you!

Had to share this...nothing beats free stuff...
Laurinda replied to swstacey1977's topic in Rants & Raves
I used to do "freebie boards" all the time! They can be a lot of fun. This sounds like something I would be interested in, well not a freebie board it does rekindle the "freebie bug" LOL -
Try vinegar on the burn <you can even warm it in the microwave a wee> apply it with a soft wash cloth. You'll smell but feel OH SO MUCH BETTER! When your burn is over I'll give you my address and welcome you to repeat what your doing at your house
-
Well my first thoughts when I read about it this morning in the paper was "DAAAAAAANG" Oh to be plus size <hair flip> But I will make it to "plus size yet" dang dongit!
-
Bless your heart it is time to move on and start a new *new beginning! I agree with the other, find a new surgeon! Good - luck to you !! Remember you deserve the best you can give yourself!
-
I agree with hairband, over time you DO have a whole new out look and it's amazing the things you worry about now don't even enter you thought process. As for the diet after being banded...Lordie I didn't have to stick to any "diet" I was told I could eat anything. I did try to do mushy foods and what not. Good-Luck! It's hard now but so worth it!
-
I have felt that way too after a fill. Pressure of sorts when drinking and then the need to burp etc.
-
I was scared too and I look back now and think " of what"? You will do fine
-
I am so very sorry to read

WOW cb11213 I find your comment to be very rude and even uncalled for. I don't think the poster was asking to be criticized and bashed. If losing weight was so dang easy I don't guess this board would be here. I am very glad that you have done so well at your weight lose and I do hope it continues, but when you start walking on water maybe then what you have to say can be taken serious. ts505050 I am sorry I have not had the band but four months so I have no "long term" advise to give you. The fact that you want to move forward and make this band work for you is awesome! Do you have a local support group? Maybe the new surgeon will have some ideas of places you can look into. For the most part I have found this board to be helpful and supportive with great ideas. I don't post often but I read daily. I'm sorry you reached out for advise and help and got such an arrogant response right of the bat. Pfffft that one and keep moving forward!! Good-Luck to you!
