Well I think everyone has felt the way you are feeling right now. If you didn't take it serious I would worry about you  Research, research, research! Find a surgeon you are interested in and go to a seminar. Read this board because it has been more helpful to me then any other source. I too was scared because the unknown is always scary! I was band back in Jan. and I look back now and kinda chuckle to myself. I am 75 lbs down and still take it very serious but kinda laugh when I think about what my fears and concerns were! It is really a personal choice and where you are in your head about your weight lose that will help guide you to a decision! Good - luck to you!

I have had slime once and it was VERY painful ( maybe a stuck too?) and when it finally released itself it was such relief! I did do liquids the next day but that was a personal choice as I was "testing the waters" so to speak. I have since learned the warning signs of my body and if I take one bite that just doesn't seem right I STOP and wait. I know this may sound over paranoid. From reading this site I have learned to ( I know I repeat myself) chew to a paste, slow down between bites, recognize when I have a "pressure" feeling after taking a few bites, Hiccups are a warning sign ( that I listen to now) and I am VERY anti-social when I eat ( not really but I try not to socialize to much and concentrate on what I am doing) Bless your heart I am sorry that happened to you, especially with the two young ones with you!

I too understand the whole bored eating thing but I have to tell you, once I got my third fill and hit my "sweet spot" I was very blessed that all that snacking didn't seem to matter to me. I didn't <don't> really grave it like I once did. I don't know if it's because on this journey I have changed my eating habits or because with past experiences <two> with being stuck and slime I just don't want to go through that again , If that is the case then the band is REALLY doing it's job! They say it takes 21 days for a habit to take form. Maybe it's a time thing and the further along you go with the band the more your lack of wanting to eat becomes a habit <shrug> Lord knows I don't have the answers but I PROMISE you that it is true where there is a will there is a way and the band sure helps with both the will AND the way! Good-Luck to you!

Interesting thing have you heard of this?
Laurinda replied to fivebyfive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree, I got stuck after surgery and before my first fill. -
WOW 240.00 for 10 shots! That is not a bad price at all. I work in a pharmacy and have seen it for much more. My Dr. did not require Lovenox and I haven't really heard it talked about much <not at all really> here on the board. A lot of insurance's won't cover injectable's but as crazy as this sounds will cover the medication if given by a home health care nurse. If it is REAL important to your doctor see what your insurance will cover if you do home health care. ~Good-Luck~

My period before getting band was HORRID FROM HELL!! It got to the point that I half joked when people asked my what my goal weight lose was I said " I want to loose enough weight to have my uterus removed!! ( They never asked a second time) But after losing a good bit of weight I have to say that they have simmered down. I hope it's not a fluke! Time will tell

I know it seems slow at first but when you get good restriction WOW! I have lost 72 lbs since my band in January. I know for me without my band I most likely would not even still be dieting if I started in January! I know me! This has been the best tool for losing weight I have found yet:) Hang in there!!!!!

WE do Organic and or soy at my house. We have drank fat free for so long that when out and my kids are served whole milk (both teens now) they think it's gross and taste like cream lol From whole cut back to 2% then after awhile do the 1%. Skim will not be to watery buy the time you get to it!!! LOL

My doc don't tell me either. But I am cool with it because whatever he and I are doing it's working

I am losing hair like crazy! I am taking the Biotin and Zinc I have noticed a HUGE difference in my nails but not yet my hair. I am also choking down flax seed oil for the Omega's and I can't do the fish oil capsules (to big) plus a multivitamin. My nails look great! Still waiting on the hair

Is "stuck" immediate? or creeps up on you?
Laurinda replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know right away if I'm stuck. The few times I did I was so uncomfortable and yes it can be scary. I have learned to EAT slow and CHEW to a paste. I read that on here about chewing to a paste and it really has been a life saver! I don't socialize much when I am eating because I concentrate on what I am doing ( I really didn't like the stuck! lol) As gross as this may sound if I am chewing something and I can't make it a paste or I have an uneasy feeling about it I spit it out ( Discreet of course) Corn ball maybe but it works for me!! Just take your time and go slow, read this board and listen to your body! You will do GREAT!!! -
I HATE those "kind-of" hiccups!
Laurinda replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is my understanding that hiccups are a warning sign that you have eaten to fast or not chewed well. In the past when I got hiccups really bad it was a nightmare with the slime that followed. I don't hiccup much now but if I do , I stop and wait it out. I don't try to eat anything more. I have learned to pay attention to this "warning sign" lol -
Acid reflux maybe? Is it bile your coughing up?

Ever feel its not worth it?
Laurinda replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More then worth it! Every day will get better and as you see the weight lose you will be so very happy! I look at it like this: Child birth was painful and it sucked but when they put my child in my arms I forgot the pain. A few months from now you will look back and realize it was all worth it :cursing: Good-luck to you! -
MsMia2u so your mom moved in and your not so lonely? Hmmm I have my mom and mother-n-law living with me and I don't have that pep you have! I would still rather have the kids, and the dog, maybe even a wart hog <just saying> lol No really you sound like you went through it well, Good for you!!!

<thumbs up> Very cool place to be :rolleyes2:

When did you know that you could eat that or you could not????
Laurinda replied to jessbychurch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
100 % trail and error! When you find that error you don't trail it again lol but really whatever you eat just remember to chew it to a paste, and truthfully some days you may not be able to tolerate something but do just fine with it another. God-luck to you! -
Bless your heart I soooooo understand!! I have Pre-empty nest syndrome and it's KILLING me. My son just graduated high school and my daughter is a sophomore. But they are very busy outside the home and their home time is limited ( I am so glad their still here some!) I hear there is a life out there after you raise your kids, I'm gonna hold onto that :rolleyes2: Find something like a hobby, I know easier said then done sometimes. For myself I took up writing and ya know what? I'm kinda good at it and enjoy the heck out of it! Good-Luck to you!

ditto for me too

Why Pre-op Diet???
Laurinda replied to princessdenise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree if 7 days sounds overwhelming to you I worry about the band being right for you. I also wonder why your surgeon didn't explain the diet to you and the reason behind it. When I was told it was to shrink my liver to make things go easier and safer and if I DIDN'T shrink the liver some, the surgery could be canceled I was focused 100%. It sucked don't get me wrong but it was a "MUST DO" before surgery so I did. I had to do 14 days and a co-worker had to do 30. After everything I went through to get to the point of having a surgery date I sure as heck wasn't going to flub up 14 days before I went in!!! Good-Luck to you -
"I thought maybe I could perform surgery on myself and remove the band, the longer the episode lasted the more crazy my thought process became." Yes I too have had THIS thought lol. I was able to calm myself down and settle on having the "damn thing removed tomorrow". I lived through it and no did not have it removed (Thank God on both accounts lol) Thank-You for sharing  makes the rest of us feel like we are not alone when we have issues such as this!

For me I am very happy with my decision. As for foods you cannot eat anymore I think that really is very individual. What works for some does not work for others, but I have found that over time I don't even WANT the foods I thought I would miss so bad. In many cases it's not that I can't eat these items as I no longer have the desire. What an empowering feeling not to be draw to something yummy just because it's sitting there. Good-Luck to you!

Is it normal to plateau and lose restriction?
Laurinda replied to Zazzeloop's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I don't know about the "Belly Beasts" ( That would explain a lot) But I too have the same experience. After a fill I lose fast then it evens out. -
< thumbs up >
