Does Anyone Eat Full Fat Products Such As
Laurinda replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat low fat or fat free for the most part BUT I will eat full fat Ranch dressing sometimes because I like it much better. I would not "freak" if I could not get something in fat free or low fat ( like out to eat) -
require to lose weight before surgery
Laurinda replied to tigereyegreen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiger do you have to do a liquid diet before surgery? That should take care of your 20 pounds. I know I had to do 14 days of liquids and YES 20 came off! Good-luck to you! -
Rumor has it that banana helps with this, takes the burn out

Panic Attacks with the Lab-Band! HELP!!!
Laurinda replied to Stella_Eterna's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jack is right on with what he said. I do understand your panic to a degree because after I got stuck I didn't want to relive it so I kinda freaked at meal time too BUT on the other hand what Jack said is what happened for me "changed behavior" Start slow and take just a bite or two, chew to a paste and see how it goes. Good -luck! -
With this being your first fill personally I would wait. Granted if you are going to have any problems with the fill itself it would show in the first few days and not a week BUT eating will be different for you and you need time to "learn" your body.

Sounds like something I would have done I think I would be calling every day to see if I could get in! Good-luck!

I never thought it would happen to me.....
Laurinda replied to JennyLynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bless your heart I am so sorry! I agree that is was pretty crappy for your cousin to call you at work AND your husband said he was SOOOO sorry and it won't happen again yet there was kissing going on while your child was sleeping and you were at work?!? By all means if you think the marriage can be saved then fight for it tooth and nail....but if you don't....close this chapter in your life and move forward! NO ONE has the right to cause you to have negative feelings about yourself! YOU caused none of this. A grown adult in a relationship has responsibilities and one of them are to walk away from temptation. If a person is not happy in their relationship they need to end it before engaging in selfish acts that affect others around them (drinking, drug use, affairs) Good-Luck to you! -
The last time I went to get a fill ( and was denied because of "to much weight loss") My surgeon highly recommend pizza. He said it was a good healthy choice (minus meat) and one slice would fill me up. Funny thing about that was the first stuck I ever had was on pizza and I have had no interest in repeating IT! I would think ( in theory) if you picked a thin crust pizza and chewed VERY well it would work. I am gonna give it a try again but I will be eating slow and chewing well! Good- luck!

Why Water is SO Important - especially for bandsters
Laurinda replied to SpecialK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Very good post indeed! Since getting my band I have had a problem with low blood pressure. I have had dizzy and nausea problems. I had dry mouth so bad it was almost choking me. Interesting to learn (after seeing my doctor ) I was dehydrated. I did not know that dehydration could cause low blood pressure, heck I didn't really know I was dehydrated. I have always tried to drink water but when I was honest with myself and kept a journal I was surprised to find I really wasn't drinking much of anything. Very good info to have and to share! Thanks! -
I do think the reheating of the rice added to the stuck. I too was told no microwave food because it can become to dry. IF I do chance heating something up I always add a little water and make sure it's covered.

I never knew apple juice could taste SO GOOD!
Laurinda replied to Mommy.ArmyWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah the apple juice is just a thing you get at the hospital when you haven't had anything in so long. So yes it taste dang good! But no it's not something that you continue with. I think Mommy.Armywife was just saying that after not having something for so long ANYTHING tasted good...it just happened to be apple juice -
I never knew apple juice could taste SO GOOD!
Laurinda replied to Mommy.ArmyWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats  and yes Apple juice tasted YUM to me too! I bought some after surgery cause it was so wonderful. Funny how the stuff in my fridge didn't taste as good as the stuff at the hospital <laughing> -
How are you getting your protein now? I am not a vegetarian but have pretty much given up meat since getting the band. Just a personal choice. My daughter is a vegetarian and I have been cooking meat free for years so I am very used to it ( I cook meat for my hubby and son) I do a lot with tofu and always enjoy finding new ways to make it. Edamame is enjoyed by the whole family and we do a lot of dairy ( not Vegan here) I would think being a vegetarian and getting the band would work out very well! Good-luck to you!

OMG yay you!!! Don't be sadden by the small weight gain you have done AMAZING!!!! I agree with maybe making some small goals so you don't feel stressed about the 30 pounds. I like to make my next goal hitting the next set of ten's as I go. If I get on the scale and It's 248 I say YES!! Now 239! Just get me to the next tens lol Also I know sometimes we get burned out on what we are eating. Get a great cook book or search out some recipes that are different and incorporate the foods you like to make something new. I find I cook more now that I am making better food choices and the family loves it too!!! (thumbs up) YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!!

One hamburger = diet??? I'm in trouble!
Laurinda replied to midwestchickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes it is very funny how eating is very social. When growing up I was told it was very rude to make a comment about how much some one is eating (when getting seconds and what not) and it IS!!! BUT on the flip side lol I have experienced "Is that all your eating" "You ain't eating enough to keep a flea a live" (looks down at thighs...uh huh) and on and on because at family gatherings if you ain't eating they seem to take it personal! -
First Goal Met!! Almost to Onederland!

I drink diet soda on occasion but I pour some out of the bottle and shake it flat, I know this may sound gross but it really is tasty. I am able to eat rice but VERY LITTLE. I was never told rice was a "no-no" As for food items I think it's trial and error,You learn what your body will tolerate and what it won't.

Coworker said weird thing to me... hmm??
Laurinda replied to littlefroggy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well bless your heart I am sorry you had that conversation! Everyone seems to know a whole lot about not much. You have done the work and the research and you know you are ready for this! Move forward with your plans and thank her for her prayers. People don't always think before they speak lol I had one of my patients complement me on the weight I had lost. He did ask me how I am doing it and I told him I had the lap band in January..... without missing a beat he said " Oh well I won't tell you about the funeral I went to yesterday of a fellow that had the gastric" I just smiled and said "ummm thank-you"
