I am also in the twin cities area! My surgery is sept 30th! I'm going through Healtheast. Schwartz was suppose to be my surgeon but I really needed the surgery in September and he was booked out until October so I had to switch.

What was the final straw to decide this?
LoseItKacy replied to limichelle34's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Being told I probably can't have kids from PCOS. not fitting on a plane when I go visit my boyfriend. Being the only one of my group of friends that will stand on the side while my friends go hiking because if I tried my weight would make me fall. When I couldn't find snow pants big enough to let me continue snowboarding (my passion). When my family took holiday pictures and I looked like I ate a another family member. When going up the stairs counted as a workout. When I couldn't keep up with the toddler I nanny. I'm only 22 and I'm missing out on so much of my life. I don't want to raise kids in this body even if I could have them. This isn't healthy and this definitely isn't living. -
so we give the shots to ourselves?

So my surgery is in 2 weeks. When I started the process I was 257. I am now about 240ish. So my clothes are already getting big. How long after surgery did people wait to stop shopping? Money is super tight for me right now and I don't want to buy things just to have them not fit shortly after. I'm thinking I will be living in sweat pants for awhile.

So I'm a pretty regular exerciser. And I recently started my two week liquid diet. My calorie intake is about 600-800 a day. And I think it's finally starting to get to me. I feel really weak and tired and it's only been a couple days. Should I cut back on the exercise until after surgery or should I keep trying? Will I get use to this? Or is it going to get worse? I hate the idea of not working so im curious as to what other people did???

What’s Your Worst Post-Op Memory (or Fear)?
LoseItKacy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That it "won't work" I have learned a lot of self control but I still see dumping as motivation to make better choices. I'm worried they will cut my stomach too big and I'll still be able to eat a lot. I've heard people saying that they felt like "they never even had wls". I just don't want to be one of those people. I want to be successful. Oh and stalling. I know I shouldn't be scared of the three week stall because I know it will come but I still worry about it. -
My boyfriend is really healthy. Super slim. Lives with roommates who are body builders who eat sleep and breathe fitness. They have never been over weight a day in their life. So when my boyfriend brought me over for the first time when I met them I felt SO out of place. Honestly I felt terrible. Like I wasn't good enough. Now that Im getting the surgery 1. His roommates (who are now my friends) are completely supportive even when I never thought they would be 2. My boyfriend has really stepped up to encourage me. He works with me every step of the way and has been on my liquid diet with me (just to support) So from my standpoint it's made us stronger. Even tho he can't relate to what I'm going through and doesn't understand why my weight got to where it is, he has been my comfort through all of this. It takes a lot to talk about your insecurities, even with your significant other, but if your open and honest and willing to work together (which doesn't mean eat the same things but providing the right kind of support) everything will be ok. It's a journey for you and everyone around you. It's a learning process and it's not easy. Seeing my bf go out to the bar knowing I can't drink sucks. I resent that he can just eat a huge burger. But I know when it comes down to it, he will always have my back and be there for me through all this. Best of luck. <4

Insurance approval?
LoseItKacy replied to Frodo's Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The actual approval took less than a week for me. But my insurance is behind on modern day tech and sent my approval letter in the mail to the hospital. I actually ended up getting the approval letter first so I emailed it to them. It also depends on how far out your surgeon is booked. Some programs just have one or two surgeons, so if they are busy it might be 6 weeks or more out. If there's a lot of surgeons, my program has 4, so my survey date was about a month out. It also depends if you have to have a liquid diet before surgery. I have a two week liquid diet so that's another factor on time. My surgery is 12 days away!!! Best of luck! -

I'm the 30th! I'm so nervous!!! -
I start my two week liquid diet today I'm honestly excited. I'm sure I will hate it about a week in but I'm so ready for the surgery that it doesn't even matter.

It's definitely a personal choice. My choice was to tell everyone. My story is all over Facebook and YouTube. I decided to tell people because I honestly only had a couple people to support me. And by telling everyone I was absolutely amazed by people's reactions. People who I NEVER thought would support me have turned out to support me MORE than the people I wanted to support me. Now I have this huge network of people who are standing behind me. Yes there's negativity but it's a lot easier to deal with when you have all this positivity. I find it also is holding me accountable. Now that I know people are watching and being educated by me I have to make sure I make the good choices and show people how much work this surgery is and how it's a VALID form of weight loss, not just a cop out. It's totally personal choice but that's why I chose mine. Best of luck

Trying Not to be Anxious

I did the same thing! I was so paranoid! My program even called my insurance for me because I think I bugged them so much! But hey, it's life changing surgery, how are we suppose to feel! I'm sure we aren't the only ones! Best of luck to you! -

Preop "the last supper"
LoseItKacy replied to jamiemarie_11's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I last suppered so hard. And since I was pretty much liquid dieting for a week as a practice run I think my body thought I was starving it. So when I ate EVERYTHING stuck. I seriously gained like 3 pounds in a day. Not doing that again. Wasn't worth it. I felt so sick.
