  1. Yeah i just looked up a bunch of stuff on it and it's definitely an antidepressant/anti anxiety medication. Like I said, I took it for over a year when my mom had cancer and it was amazing. It just levels out your mood. All medications like that come with a risk of anxiety, depression, suicide because they mess with the release of serotonin in the brain. But trust me. It's a very safe and well known antidepressant and your at MORE of a risk for anxiety and depression when your not taking it. He may be saying hypochondriac because it's usually associated with anxiety. The medicine reduces anxiety which in turn reduces symptoms of hypochondria.
  2. I was on that. It's an antidepressant. I've never heard of it being for hypochondriacs? I have anxiety and depression. It was amazing honestly.
  3. Thank you! I am beyond excited! This long process is FINALLY coming to a close. With only 12 hours left to go! I weighed myself this morning and I met my goal of 235! So I have exactly 100 pounds to lose after tomorrow! I am so ready! Knowing this time tomorrow my life will be completely different is mind blowing! I am so ready! Best of luck on your journey!!!

    Sleep Study

Ive had 2! So I know lots about sleep studies. They are gonna hook you up to a bunch of wires on your head, arms, and legs. Usually there are bands around your chest to monitor breathing. And then you just sleep. Like normal. Just kidding I slept like crap the second time I had one. There is stuff up your nose and I had someone snoring in the room next door (my first one was actually really peaceful and I feel asleep right away). If you have sever sleep apnea (stop breathing more than 30x per hour) they usually come in and put a CPAP on you. They didn't come put one on me but I still have moderate sleep apnea and they gave me a CPAP for it. I was also waking up every two hours pretty much on the dot before I had my CPAP but now I love it and can't sleep without it.

So Now What Can I Eat?

I'm kinda in the same boat. My surgery is in 4 days. They are taking my gallbladder with my bypass. I'm also allergic to fruits and veggies. So figuring out what I can and can't eat after this surgery is going to be interesting. Pretty much leaves me with protein. I think I'm ok with that

    Weight loss journey.

The wait. It always feels like you have to wait for something. If it's not a six month diet plan, it's your psychiatrist going on vacation and having to reschedule 3 weeks later. Or it's waiting for an insurance response. Or waiting to find out "the date". But once you get it it goes by fast. I've been at this for over 7 months and my surgery is 4 days away. I promise there is a light at the end of the pre op tunnel.

To tell or not to tell

I chose the same path. Honestly, I've had more backlash by other wls patients for not keeping my story a secret than I've EVER had from ANYONE for putting it all out there. Yes, I've had some negative comments but for every negative remark I've had about 5x the support. If I never gave people the opportunity to support me I would probably have no one at this point. The few people I initially planned on telling weren't nearly as supportive as the people I NEVER expected to support me. My family is coming around (I'm the only one in my family with a weight problem so it's hard for them to understand)But I'm making the right decision for me. I want people to know that what I'm doing is a VALID form of weight loss and hopefully I can inspire someone who feels like there are no options for them like one person did for me. The only reason I am even here right now is because one person put their story out there and it happened to show up on my Facebook wall. Telling my story is my way of paying it forward! Other WLS patient shamed you? WTH!?!?!? You'd think they'd be the most understanding. My philosophy is shame away. Why? I use it as fuel on the days where my ass doesn't want to get out of bed or hit the pool. I see those very few comments and say **** that and hit the pool twice as hard. I've always been the, knock me down 9 times, and I'll get up 10 times. My mom is supportive but nervous. I'm her oldest son, and dad passed in the late 1990's. So she worries, but she wants me to get healthy and live again. You keep kicking ass!! Take it one day at a time, and the haters... Well they can pound sand! Yup I've been told that I'm "asking for attention" and looking for "drama". I've also heard that I am "wrong" for throwing my personal business out there. That this is too much of a private manor to be discussing with others. (Which I totally understand but it's my choice?) Bunch of stuff. I get frustrated a lot when I accept and respect people's decision to keep their surgery a secret but I can't get the same respect back when it comes to being public with my story. I have a YouTube channel, it's on my Facebook, and I'm on tons of bariatric websites/forums. I am not hiding it from anyone. I specifically wanted to be open about my story because things I went through to get me to this point in my life. No regrets. I can't wait for my surgery! Less than 5 days away!

  11. I have it. I don't think it has a taste of smell. I put it in soup. Applesauce (unsweetened). Crystal light. Oatmeal. Sugar free pudding. Broth. Anything liquid I add some in. Even if it's not a full scoop I always add some.

    Vision Boards

I made a weight tracker thing that's similar. It's on a painted canvas. There's two of them but this is what the first part looks like . But I think I will make a vision board next!!!

    Day 5 liquid diet help!

Thanks every one. I'm now on day 9 and I feel 100 times better. I think I was just going through serious withdrawal. I feel really good now and I don't have to worry about work anymore until after surgery. The only thing I struggle with now is getting tired really fast but at least I'm not dizzy or nauseous anymore!
  14. So my liquid diet is two weeks. I get three protein shakes a day. Small applesauce cup. 1 cup of soup for lunch and dinner. And 1 serving of sugar free jello. That's all I get in a day. I'm at work and I'm on my feet for 8 hours. I'm sweaty. Seeing spots. Dizzy. And I feel like I'm soon to pass out. I don't want to cheat because getting this surgery means everything to me but idk how to get through work today. I can't have food on the sales floor (I work retail). I honestly just want to go home. I feel so weak. Help?

    Unflavored protein?

Honestly I just put enough in so it blends well. 1/4-1/2 a scoop. In drinks I will put more.
  16. Where at in Colorado!? I use to live there. I go back every 3 months to visit my boyfriend but I totally get what you mean by planning in having the same problem! My surgery is next week and I don't think I will have anything to get me through the winter, which is bad because I live in Minnesota
  17. LoseItKacy

    Unflavored protein?

Isopure unflavored is the best I put it in everything. Water. Crystal light. Soup. (I'm on my liquid diet right now) it goes in applesauce, literally anything that's liquid it goes in for me.
  18. We have the same surgery day! I wouldn't try to look at it as you "can't" eat those things ever again, I would look at it as you "shouldnt" eat those things. I'm having the rny so there's a possibility that I can't eat those but I try to see it as I don't need those things in my life anymore because they got me to where I am now, and I'm not happy! Ice cream isn't worth the sleep apnea and acid reflux I have now. I would rather be able to DO things in my life, like go hiking or fit on roller coasters than be able to eat cake again. You just have to find new things that make you feel good instead of food. It's way easier said than done but I'm sure it will be worth it! Best of luck to you! It will all work out! If you ever need to talk I'm always here to listen!
  19. "Weight loss surgery is for people who actually NEED it" ..... Ummmm yeah. Me? "Well I'm obese too" ..... Said by my size 8 friend "It's all about will power and clearly you don't have it" ... Cuz 6 months of education, a change in lifestyle, 2 week no cheating liquid diet, months of support groups, and regular exercise isn't willpower? "I can see your losing weight so why do you need the surgery" ... Because losing 10 pounds on a liquid diet isn't losing the 130 pounds that I need to be healthy. I can't just be on a liquid diet forever. "Just try paleo it worked for me, I wish I woulda got you to try it sooner so you wouldn't get this surgery" ... Actually I'm allergic to fruits and veggies. The majority of that diet will literally kill me. Also, your not my super hero. I don't need you to "save me" from the big bad wls. Lol Most people just say things because they are uneducated. I've learned to just take it and move forward.
  20. My surgery is coming up and I just wanted to know if anyone can tell me what to expect. I was 257 when I started the process but now I'm around 242. I'm 5'6. I want to be 135-145 but I don't know if I'm asking for too much with that. I'm having the RNY.
  21. My surgery is September 30th. I'm officially halfway through my 2 week liquid diet and I want to be honest. The first 5 days were brutal. I was moody. I felt nauseous. I thought I was going to pass out at times. It was just a dramatic change really quick and my body was not ready for it. But now closing day 8 I can say it's a lot easier. I use to miss the junk but I don't really think of it anymore. I know that I need to do this for the safety of my surgery and for my overall long term success of weight loss surgery so I just do it. the crazy emotions turn into excitement and the days get easier as you start to realize that this will lead to you being healthier. Don't get me wrong. It's hard. It's the hardest "diet" I've tried by far, but living with obesity is a lot harder.
  22. That's amazing! Just search Kirstyn Cotto and you should find my page! I don't know anyone personally who has had the surgery but it's still great to hear all of the success stories. I have bad acid reflux so that was one of the main reasons I chose gastric bypass.
  23. That's awesome! If you ever have any questions about anything feel free to ask!!! I also have a YouTube channel which walks you through my journey to bypass! Obviously I'll have a lot more to post about once I'm a post op but watching other people's experiences is a great way to prepare yourself for yours. There are tons of people on here who share their story and I found it really helpful during my 7 month wait. What made you decide on the bypass?
  24. Hi I'm Kacy! My surgery is September 30th! I'm having the gastric bypass. I'm 22 and welcome to the journey! It's a long and eventful one so learn as much as you can, while you can, because trust me 9 months goes fast! What surgery are you looking at getting?!

    In a time crunch

I had the same problem my clinic worked around it. My start over date is October first. They got me in for September 30th! It was a close call but I'm very lucky! I would keep bringing it up to them.
