Nut didn't give me Carb guidelines...?
LoseItKacy replied to katiet0526's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Never given a carb limit either. My rules are 75% of my meals have to be Protein. I eat only three times a day. If I go longer than 4-6 hours without a meal I'm allowed a cheese stick or piece of deli meat. 64oz fluids Everything I eat has to have no more than 10g of fat and 10g of sugar. -
I won't regret this...right?
LoseItKacy replied to JengaBee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm three months out. I had one of the rougher recoveries. I've had kidney stones from struggles to stay hydrated. I've cried over food more times in the past 10 weeks than I've cried in my life. I've been hormonal as hell. Dumping is boarder line torture. But you know what, I wouldn't trade this for anything. Feeling normal comes back with time. I don't have to shop in plus sizes any more. I'm completely off all my heartburn meds. I can actually sleep through the night now. I ran my fastest mile ever my first day back at the gym. People don't treat me different because of my weight anymore. I feel more confident. I have a new healthy relationship with food. Being on an airplane doesn't hurt anymore or feel awkward. Working out is actually fun now. I can take a bath that's more Water instead of fat filling the tub. I enjoy having people take my picture now. It's a whole new world but I love it. Don't get me wrong, it's very very hard. But as tough as it's been i would do it again in a heartbeat cuz I'm finally enjoying the life I deserve to have. I also realized we have similar starting stats. I'm 5'6, was 257 at my highest recorded weight. I probably weighed more tho honestly. I got down to 235 on my surgery day. And now I'm 189 10 weeks post op. -
Just want to give an update. I'm 10 weeks out now. At 7 weeks I hit Onederland. Today I'm 189 and doing awesome so I've lost 68 pounds overall! I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving and everyone who recently had surgery is recovering well!!!

How much do you eat at a meal at 2 months, 3 months
LoseItKacy replied to 60&goin4it's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My program is extremely strict. I'm at 1/4 a cup until almost 6 months. Then 6 months to a year in 1/2c. Then at a year I can have 1 cup. I'm 10 weeks post op. Eat 3 times a day. No snacking. 75% of my meals have to be Proteins. And I'm still restricted on what I can eat. I'm basically still on soft food until 3 months I think. But no carbs until 6 months. -
I want anywhere from 135-145. I don't want to be in the 150's. I'm 5'6. Started at over 260. Now I'm 189! Over halfway there! I also picked my goal based on bmi. And I use to weight 132 so I know what that looks like. I'm just ready to be out of the "obese" category! 4 more pounds and I'm "overweight!!!"

Please share your 1-3 month losses
LoseItKacy replied to MsCyrus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Starting weight: 257 During my preop I lost 22 pounds. So I was 235 on surgery day. I am about 10 weeks out. I'm 189 now. So I've lost 46 pounds since surgery. I want to be 135-145. It's slowed a lot as of this week. My quick loss is rare. Most people aren't over halfway to goal at 10 weeks. Everyone is different. It's not really a race. Our bodies lose when they need to. Best of luck. -
I've tried eggs twice. Never trying again. Did not go well. The thought makes me cringe.

Response to: does anyone end up in bikini...
LoseItKacy replied to LoseItKacy's topic in Rants & Raves
It's funny you mention that. I hate my chest. I went from a DDD to a B or a C I've been so self conscious about it since I've been losing weight. I've lost 61 pounds. 39 of that as a post op in 8 weeks.... I feel like 20 of it was boob. I think the swim suit makes them look better than what they really are lol but I would rather lose my boobs than battle obesity and my mom had breast cancer so I can't complain. thank you all -
For all who are contemplating surgery!
LoseItKacy replied to titan05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have a drain or staples. My incisions are so small it's hardly noticeable and I'm 8 weeks out. -
So I'm almost 9 days post op! And up until today it has been really rough. Mainly emotionally rough. I cried all the time. I still am very emotional. But when I weighed myself today and saw 222.5 I was so happy. I've lost 35 pound since I started this journey. 13 has been since surgery. The shirt in my picture use to be snug. Now it's huge! So I had to tie it up to wear it! But this was a huge confidence booster! I didn't have any pain meds. No major pain like I have been having. Puréed food went down well. I didn't do so hot on protein shakes but Ima work on that tomorrow for sure. I never really felt full with the liquids. Even after surgery. But I feel fullness now that I'm on purée I can definitely feel it! Just wanted to give an update! And say thank you for all the support! Also to those who have recently had wls, if it seems terrible, it gets better. I'm not 100% but I'm better than I have been.

Congrats! You look fantastic! All your hard work has sure paid off! It's such an inspiration to see stories like this. It keeps me working hard towards my own 100 pound loss mark! I think a lot of us can't imagine losing 100 pounds, but you showed us it's possible. You look so happy and that makes all of the hard days worth it! Congrats!!!!

It's been a good day.

I do a mix of things. I've worked with a friend who is working on becoming a personal trainer in the past. She taught me how to lift weights. So I lift, run on the treadmill, do the stair climber, I swim laps, and I recently started adding in yoga and Pilates classes. I mix it up. I think doing different things on a regular basis really helped me. I haven't really stalled and I'm 7 weeks out. The longest I've gone is about 4 days without a loss. I usually lose half a pound or more a day. But everyone is different and losses at their own pace when their body is ready. I'm sure my time with stalls is coming soon. But I'm going to embrace it. Best of luck to you. And thank you all for the support <3 -
HW: 257 Surgery Weight: 235 (September 30th) Today: 202!!! So close to Onederland! I've lost 55 pounds! I've gone from a size 22/24 to a 13/14. From a 3x on top to a large! I work out 5 days a week and I've ran my fastest mile (12:59) ever! I survived an intense yoga session yesterday! Before I was too big to even attempt it! I no longer have to shop plus size! I'm off all of my acid reducers for acid reflux! The last picture is a dress I bought thinking as I skimmed down would still look cute and be wearable. The picture shows when I first bought it in the top left. The next two are what it looked like yesterday. And the bottom right is the exact same dress just different color, in a size large. I'm finally getting my life back. I couldn't be happier. I fly to Colorado to visit my boyfriend for the first time since surgery and I'm so excited to see him AND to fit on an airplane for once!

That's awesome!!! Congrats! I'm hoping tomorrow is my day! I'm 200 even right now! I never want to see a 2 in front again!!! -
So I am three weeks post op. And so far I've lost 43 pounds. 22 before surgery. 21 after surgery. Well today was my first day back at the gym. Before surgery I use to work out all the time but when I started my wls program I kinda cut back A LOT. I didn't go at all for about a month before surgery. Today I ran my fastest mile EVER. On my FIRST day back at the gym in about 2 months when I use to go EVERY OTHER DAY! I couldn't even come close to a 15 min mile but today I did it in 14! I just can't believe I did it. I had no expectations going back to the gym. I told myself I would take it slow but instead I let my body tell me what it could do and it paid off! It's like the healthy me who's been trapped inside all this fat for years was screaming at me "LOOK WHAT YOU CAN DO KACY"! I seriously wanted to cry. I've worked so damn hard for years to manage my weight. And it blew my mind how big of a difference 40 pounds makes when it comes to exercise. I loved working out before. But now I love it more because I know it's actually helping me this time. In the past I worked out for months and never lost a single pound. Now I want to keep pushing myself and KNOWING it's going to pay off now because of the surgery just makes me so excited to go back to the gym. On cloud 9 right now

I have showed him. I get too excited lol but I think he will still be pleasantly surprised. I look pretty different. The first pic is the last time he saw me at my heaviest. I love lifting. I'm really strong. I've put a lot of research into my exercise and studies show that muscle helps burn a lot more fat. So for me lifting is a must.

Has anyone switched surgeons
LoseItKacy replied to lakenyagreen2986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. I switched 2 weeks before surgery after months of working with my first surgeon. My initial surgeon was amazing. He has been doing gastric bypass for over 30 years. And he had the procedure himself. He was very to the point and didn't beat around the bush. But he retired on me. He was willing to do my surgery but I needed it during a certain month and he was booked. So I had to switch. My second surgeon had the greatest bedside manor I could imagine. He was absolutely amazing and I feel like it was destiny that he was to do my surgery. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. It was extremely stressful but I'm really grateful for my experience. -
How far post op can you eat oatmeal?
-
I asked my nutritionist about it... She said 6 months. I follow my NUTs rules so looks like it will be a while before I get to try it. I just miss the fiber.
-
Congrats on your NSV!!! Sadly I'm having a hard time accepting the shrinking. Before surgery I was a 40DDD. Today I was professionally measured for the first time since surgery at a 38B or C depending on the bra. I cried. I knew they would shrink but at 5 weeks post op I wasn't thinking it would be this fast. Honestly my chest was the ONE thing I liked about myself when I was overweight. It was the one thing I knew I had that I could flaunt and made me feel sexy. Regardless of all the fat. But today felt like someone ripped my "sexy security blanket" from me. I know I'll get over it. I'm grateful for my weight loss and being healthy but it's hard to let go of the one part of me that I loved and made me feel good about myself for so long. Learning to love my new body has been a lot harder than I thought. It's so foreign to me.

I was just curious on what has changed for everyone food wise after surgery. For example, before surgery I LOVED chicken and scrambled eggs. Now my pouch hates them. I don't get sick but it's extremely uncomfortable and I've tried a lot of ways to get it to go down but have had no luck. So what did you like before surgery that you don't like after? Just curious to see other peoples responses.
