My nutritionist told me to stay away from Slim Fast. How much protein in them?
-
You will get more energy as time goes on and as you are able to try foods and not just liquids. I did not have any gas pain, but still dealing with constipation at 4.5 weeks. I was only in the hospital over night.
-
Are yu using protein powder or the ready made? The protein powder gagged me. I finally found Premier Protein drinks and they are very smooth and I have done well with them. They are 11 oz each with 30 g of protein and only 160 calories. You can gt them at Sam's Club and Cosco. Probbly at Walmart, too.

How often do you have to take Miralax?
-
I get mine at Sam's Club. THey also carry it at Cosco. It is in some drug stores and health food stores, but more expensive in those places. I get a 12 pack for about $20 at Sams. Good luck and let me kknow if this helps you!

I tried several brands of the powdered protein an gagged on all of them. I have finally settled on Premier Protein Drinks. They are pre-mixed, 160 calories, only 11 oz and 30 g of protein each. I have one for breakfast or lunch and if I find I am low on protein by the end of the day I have another in the evening. They are creamy and come in Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. I sometimes put one in the freezer until it is mushy. Since they are in little cardboard cartons, they can be opened and eaten with a spoon. I am done with the powders. I'll use all the ones I have for grout when I tile someday! lol

I could not deal with the powdered protein and adding it to foods. It was just too gross. I am drinking 1-2 11oz cartons of Premier Protein drink. It has 30 g protein in each 11 oz drink. It comes in Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. The chocolate is like chocolate milk. I sometimes put it in the freezer to get it mushy and it is good that way, too.

I, too, have this problem at 4 weeks! Dr said MiraLax or Ducolax. But it only relieves the constipation for a day or two and then it is back.

Itchy itchy vitamins?
CynthiaAnn replied to _telia_'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hadn't thought of the vitamins for being a cause, but I have an itchy patchon my arm.. The bumps are too small to be mosquito bites, but too big to be what I had thought to be a rash. It is aobut 5-6 bumps that itch and I have not bee out in the yard to get anything nature has to cause it. -

Isn't it amazing how the directives from different doctors vary so widely? -
Looking for those who had sleeve in August 2015
CynthiaAnn replied to Sherri1964's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I was sleeved the 18th and still get tired easily. My dr said the healing is still in process internally and it will get better. This is a major adjustment for the body and he said it just takes time. -
Thanks, Shakiki. He is doing ok. His heart rate is staying at 60, but he is still feeling a bit tired and sometimes unsteady on his feet. He is so supportive of my journey through the weight loss. I hope he is able to follow through and have the surgery in 3 months.

Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos
CynthiaAnn replied to StacyS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am just at 4 weeks and had that 3 week stall that lasted 6 days. Finally started dropping again. I had mw follow up with the surgeon yesterday and am now cleared to do more than walking for exercise. I am anxious to see the effects of gym visits on my loss. -
My husband and I both had to have cardiac clearance for our surgeries because we are over 50. I passes, but his heart rate was slow at times ( usually around 40 bpm) and other times racing. He had to wear a heart monitor for 3 weeks and once he was sent to the ER when his heart dropped to 14!) Just last week he had a pacemaker installed and his surgery is on hold for 3 months now.

Never in my life did I think I would share this!

What a wonderful story to begin my day! Congrats on the wonderful journey! -
I have found it so interesting how different pre op is with different doctors, as well as with post op stages! I had to visit my doctor's weight loss center and meet with the nutritionist, psycholigist an exercise specialist for 30 minutes each. My family doctor had to monitor my weight and give advice for 3 months and then it was surgery time. Two weeks before my surgery it was approved by Medical Mutual and the next day all Kettering Hospital doctors were dropped by my insurance! I had to get special transition to have my doctor covered as in-network.

Where are all the august people
CynthiaAnn replied to bekah81015's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got my sleeve on Aug. 18th and have not had any problems. Last week I was at a stall on 20 lbs lost all week, but started dropping Saturday and am at 23 now. I see my dr for my 4 week check this Thursday. I also see the nutritionist, psychiatrist, and exercise specialist at their Weight Loss Center on Thursday. I am anxious to see what they all have t say! -
Cottage cheese has been my best friend! I like it with canned tuna, canned chicken and with pepper. It curbs my cravings for salt. I also drink 1-2 of the Premier drinks to get my protein in. Wendy's chili is also on my allowed list. The meat is chopped fine and a small cup lasts me for 3-4 meals. I also like bean soup and mash the beans up well. Just some ideas. I know the soft stage gets boring! I am 27 days out of surgery and have lost 23 lbs so far.

Getting Sleeved 9/15! Need advice!
CynthiaAnn replied to Missy Ellen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve on 8/18 and like everyone has said, it varies from person to person, but my recovery has been a breeze. A little pinching at the main incision for a bit, but that is almost all gone. I mowed the grass with a self-propelled mower yesterday and although a bit tired afterward, it was not a problem. I am 62 and was afraid I was too old for this. lol -
Just south of Dayton here. Had my surgery on 8/18/15 and it has been a breeze so far! I have lost 22 lbs and feel great!
-
I am also from the Dayton area and had my sleeve on August 18th! I'm looking for a buddy to help along this journey!
