Sharp Pain Under Ribs
RobinGee replied to RobinGee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys, I've also been really backed up for a while now, I think a lot has to do with the Tramadol I take which does that. I have to take stuff for it or I don't go for several days and often when this happens I haven't gone in days. The time I went to the ER I hadn't gone for days and i couldn't go then at all and normally if I go to the bathroom it helps relieve the pain. -
I'm out about a year and a 1/2 and the past 6 months or so I've been getting this horrible pain. It's in the center under my ribs. Seems to happen if I have dry food and probably eat it too fast. I had it so bad a week or so ago that i went to the ER as I was screaming. My surgeon seems to think it's an ulcer but the more I look into it the more I'm not sure that's what it is. I do find that when I have this pain if I take gas-x and go to the bathroom it tends to help the pain eventually go away (though the time I went to the ER none of it worked). Have any of you had this? I know for a fact I really have to do better with my food and how fast I eat sometimes.

I did some more research and my gut (no pun intended) is telling me it's the plylorous and food is getting stuck there for a while or something along those lines. I'll call my dr.

So I am like 10 months out from my surgery and stopped losing weight a while ago (lost a total of 57 lbs) and most of the time everything is fine. Every once and a while (every 2-3 weeks) I get this excrutiating pain around my pouch area. Sometimes it lasts only like 10 minutes and goes away and other times it lasts for like 2-3 hours and I'm screaming and sweating. Anyone else ever have this? I'm thinking it probably has something to do with constipation and/or foods I eat (like potatoes).
-
Sorry yeah i had a sleeve, I've heard others call it a pouch more just because I feel like I have a tiny stomach so that's what I call it. Yeah, I do need to call my dr, haven't seen them in a while.

In the last 24 hours or so I've had trouble swallowing, even my own saliva. I mean I can do it, it just feels like at a certain section going down the tube it's sharp pain. Then when I'm just sitting there I'll get a sharp pain in the same exact spot over and over again, every few minutes. Last night it actually woke me up and then I thought I was going to throw up, but didn't. I'm calling my dr today but just thought I'd reach out here for thoughts.

One of the biggest reasons I got the VSG was because I couldn't live with my back pain anymore and was hoping that significant weight loss would make a difference for me. So far, it hasn't and it's really disappointing (i've lost more than 1/2 goal weight loss). I've been told that I may be in more pain for a while as my body adjusts and then it should get better. I wonder what others have dealt with in regards to back pain/sciatica pain. Thanks.

I've had some hairloss, enough to be frustrating, for many years now I think thanks to hypothyroidism. This hairloss, however, is unbelievably frustrating. I can't believe how much is coming out and so sick of finding it EVERYWHERE. I must admin I'm not super great at my vitamins or protein but at least I know it happens to everyone. I am taking biotin.

So far the dr is treating it as acid reflux and having me take meds for it. It's been 2 days and I still can't eat, it still hurts and I just tried to drink a V8 and almost threw up. Luckily I'm going to the dr tomorrow to see the psych and nut and they are going to check in with me about it when I get there. I'm sick of feeling nauseated and weak all the time though, it's miserable.

Eeek!!! I don't remotely feel ready but I'm not sure I'd ever feel ready.

I'm worried the stall is my fault, even though I'm only getting around 600 calories a day. I started a little while ago mixing 50% juice (or a little less) and Water. The juice is 100%, not sugar free, but I have major issues with fake sugar so I try to adjust when I can. So I've been drinking my fluids at 12 oz at a time about 1/2 juice and 1/2 water. Think this could really affect me that much? I think you can see yesterday's meal, I haven't been tracking exactly the juice I'm using, maybe I should start doing that. I'm on my 4th week post-op and I'm definitely having a hard time getting in the Protein and the Water. With the protein, I think it's that I just simply can't stomach the idea of doing shakes, I'm not sure why. They don't taste bad, it just makes me sick to think of doing them. Today I'm doing the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup which is fine. I try to put unflavored in my food sometimes but there is only so much I can put in when I'm only eating an ounce or 2 of food. Sigh. With water. I don't know how to get in enough water, and believe me i WANT more water, when I have to sip it all day. Also when it takes me forever to eat then I have to wait a 1/2 hour to drink and then if i forget to drink water then I get hungry and i can't seem to get in more than 12 oz of water a day. I mean i do popsicles too but I feel thirsty. Any suggestions?

Obsessing Over My Stall
RobinGee replied to RobinGee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh ok, sorry about that. Thanks, I think I'm going to try to doing a little more water and a little less juice, just to help myself and stop weighing myself. Just getting neurotic, it's hard not to stress about the idea of screwing this all up. -

How do you stay motivated during a stall?
RobinGee replied to butterfly23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think for me it was so frustrating because I appear to have hit a stall right after I hit my Onederland. I was 198.8 and so happy and then the next day I was 202. Since then it hasn't moved. -
How do you stay motivated during a stall?
RobinGee replied to butterfly23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This, this, THIS! I don't quite understand what the rush is sometimes? It's not going to happen overnight, and people seem to view the whole process as a means to an end. It NEVER ends, so just keep finding ways to trick your body out of the stall, and enjoy learning about health and nutrition along the way. The next thing you know, you'll be where you want to be. Then the hard work REALLY starts.... I think I'm freaking out because in the back of my mind I'm thinking "what if this is it? what if all I went through this is all I get?" -

September Sleevers How are we doing?
RobinGee replied to Linaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I was sleeved 9/14 and in the last few days I've gained a few lbs. Now before surgery it was normal for me to gain 5 lbs during my TOM (time of the month) so I'm wondering if this still happens after surgery. -
Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
RobinGee replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The last couple days I haven't lost bit stayed up 2 lbs but I'm also breaking out so I'm really hoping it's TOM. Reading here that is normal makes me feel better. -
I was able to get in 24 oz yesterday, so happy and hopefully I can keep doing more. I can handle doing more than sipping now which is helping. I can take a couple gulps so it goes a bit faster.

September Sleevers How are we doing?
RobinGee replied to Linaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone suggested miralax somewhere and I KNOW myself that milk of magnesia works. I wish I had answers for the other things, I just keep trying and trying. I keep protein powder at work so I can put it in stuff and I have these mini quiches I eat on the way to work that we put protein powder in when making them. I try to pick foods with protein like greek yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken or fish. If I have V8 i put protein powder in it though it makes it taste a bit off to me but I can still drink it. I'm still figuring it all out. -

@@Starting to shrink why are you regretful? -
So glad I'm not the only one, I honestly thought I was. I talked to a girl who is 2 weeks ahead of me and she says she's having no problems.

Before surgery I got myself the Celebrate chewables. The calcium ones are fine but the multi-vitamins with iron make me want to throw up (I also read reviews of others having that problem). Has anyone had a similar issue and what brand did you switch to?
