Using the basics forum as a free for all.

On that note, why don't the admins move the threads to the correct forums? Does this site not have that ability? I have moderated forums before and been able to move topics.
  2. I have seen so many people not using the forums for their intended purposes, and as someone who likes organization it drives me nuts. If you go to the sleeve pre-op forum there are so many posts of people looking for similar surgery dates or people who live near them. There are already boards for this, and they're just clogging up the pre-op board. Go to support groups and you can find people who had surgery at the same time, people your same age, people who live near you, etc. but stop using a forum meant to answer pre-op questions for these threads.

    Defining "normal" weight and BMI

Well, that just sucks. I'm supposed to be 110 pounds by that formula. I haven't been 110 pounds since 5th grade. I was between 115 and 125 when I was dancing. For me it would be about 115, which I feel is too skinny for me.

    Defining "normal" weight and BMI

Medically speaking, the ideal weight formula we learned in school was as follows: Women: 45.5kg + 2.3kg per inch over 5' Men: 50kg + 2.3kg per inch over 5' You can be up to 120% of your ideal weight before they have to weight adjust medications. However, the ideal BMI is 22.0. Looking at these two methods, my ideal weight is about 115, max 138. For the ideal BMI I would need to be 124. I can be up to 140 and still have a normal BMI. I am aiming for 124 as my goal weight, with 140 as my upper limit so I have wiggle room.

    gender bender..

I have a friend who is transgender, and she hasn't come out to everyone yet. In order to keep it straight, she told us to address the person that she was dressed as. So if she was dressed as a female, we should call her by her new name. But if she was dressed as a male, we should call her by her old name.

    going nuts.....

I agree that it sounds like body dysmorphia disorder (BDD). I know I suffer from it now (pre-op). In my head I'm not as heavy as I actually am. I look in the mirror and I feel like my physical appearance doesn't match my vision of myself. Hopefully it doesn't carry over post-op. It's good you're seeing a counselor. Definitely bring it up to them.

    Reductions before op

Not sure about most of the herbals, but a general rule of thumb is that anything that starts with a G is a natural blood thinner (ginkgo, gensing, etc.). Also, I'm not just spouting off pseudoscience, I'm a student pharmacist.

    Reductions before op

Salicylates reduce your platelets, meaning you won't clot like you're supposed to and have a higher risk of bleeding more than you should.

    ANY TEXAS SLEEVERS?

    Panhandle here.
  11. That's my date too, but I'm going with Dr. Elias Ortiz.
  12. I'm having the sleeve with Dr. Elias Ortiz in Tijuana on December 21st. Fly in the 20th and out on the 25th.
  13. I have told my boyfriend and my sister. Sister told our mom and a mutual friend. No one has really said anything about it to me though.
  14. Costco sells 18 packs of Premier Protein for $24.99 with free shipping. Even if you add in the cost of a basic membership ($55), you can buy two packs for what you pay for one on eBay.
  15. I had something similar a few years back. Their best guess was an intestinal spasm. Hasn't recurred.
