Celebrate makes multivitamin packets that you add to water and drink--I like them, and I don't have to take a pill that way

Birth control after gastric bypass...
carmar23 replied to Ready2LoseIt213's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If you're concerned about absorption you could consider NuvaRing -
I had a hard time finding vitamins I could tolerate, but what I found were multivitamin packets that you add to water from Celebrate Bariatric vitamins. I like the raspberry lemonade flavor. It gets me to drink my water that way too. What I actually did was order their sample pack for $3, and over a couple weeks tried all their different flavor a of chewable vitamins too so I knew what I liked. The packets come in the sample pack too. Here is the link: https://www.celebratevitamins.com/sample-pack.html

I've read so many posts about stalls, I know they're normal and expected and embrace the stall and focus on NSV's and all that. But every time I've had a stall I worry that the weight loss will not pick up again. My understanding is that eventually the weight loss does stop, and my fear is that it will stop before I reach goal, even despite following the plan. So how can you tell if that's happening or if it's just another stall? Any insights would be appreciated, thanks!

Is dumping syndrome forever?
carmar23 replied to sarahbethemails's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My nutritionist said that the length of time people experience dumping is individual--some people have it forever, some have it for awhile, and some never get it. My surgeon said that dumping syndrome is only caused by high sugar foods, like cake and ice cream (although nutritionist said high fat salad dressings can do it too). I've read stories on here of people dumping on other stuff you wouldn't expect, but I have to wonder how much of that is truly dumping syndrome (the kind where you feel like you're dying) and how much is a different bad reaction or indigestion. I'm 1mo out and I haven't tried anything that's supposed to make you dump. I'd rather not know and keep that tool strong! -
BariatricPal Launching Online Store to sell Discounted Bariatric Nutritional Products ? (Vitamins, Protein etc.)

If you could ask for vitamin samples from these companies that would be great! I hate buying in bulk when I don't even know if I like it or not. -
I'm only taking 1.5wks off, going back Monday. I didn't have any nausea or incisional pain. I'm sure I'll be tired but I'll deal with it.

Hi had surgery on 29th....
carmar23 replied to mouse1972rb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have that funny taste in my mouth, too. Had surgery on 9/23 and when I woke up in recovery it was the first thing I noticed. Still have it, and brushing my teeth all the time. I wonder what that is? -
It sounds like you have plenty of reasons to be emotional--surgery coming up, a milestone birthday, hormonal stuff this time of the month, and having to diet on top of that! Don't be too hard on yourself. Just keep breathing and get a good night's sleep. Everything will be ok. And Happy Birthday!

I'm planning to have a bypass later this month. I sing opera, and when I lost a lot of weight in the past I've noticed its affected my singing voice. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thank goodness it's already much better today!

My bypass is in 2 days on 9/23, and today I feel like I might be coming down with the virus my kids had last week. Just a mild scratchiness in my throat so far, but I'm worried. Does anyone know if they would cancel surgery if someone has a cold??

Dry skin, flakey, red, burning. My face is killing me after bypass
carmar23 replied to SAD HATTER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is the multivitamin new to you? Many of them do have niacin in them. Might be worth discussing with your doctor. I googled it and ursodiol has also been found, rarely, to be associated with facial flushing, too. -
How exactly does the gas in the body cavity "work its way out?" It must have to get into the GI tract somehow? It's killing me, it helps if I can understand it better

carmar23 replied to SAD HATTER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are some medications that can cause skin reactions like that. Off the top of my head, niacin can cause flushing, certain antibiotics and dandruff shampoo if you get sun exposure after, and carbamazepine can cause a rash. I know there are others, too. Maybe do some research into your meds? -

Do they cancel surgery if you have a cold?
carmar23 replied to carmar23's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I spoke to the nurse and she said it might be ok if it doesn't develop any further, but it will be up to the anesthesiologist. So I will find out on the day of. I'll be biting my nails til then -

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give advice regarding how having WLS affected your kids? I have a 3yo girl and 5mo old boy. I'm having gastric bypass later this month. I wonder about what to tell my 3yo. I wonder about how they will handle the surgery itself and not seeing them for 2+ days. I wonder about how the first few weeks will affect them as they watch me recover from surgery and the changes I will be going through. And I wonder about how this will affect them down the road psychologically, watching me eat different from everyone else and hearing me talk about it as they grow up. Any advice from those who have gone through this with young kids would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I was going to say it sounds like it could be pancreatitis

Surgery done today!
carmar23 replied to JacksdadShane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you tell the nurse that it hurts when you breathe deeply. Hopefully/probably it's nothing, but it can be a sign of a pulmonary embolism. Glad you're feeling well otherwise and congratulations!
