Shaxmom started following Anyone use Dr. Garth Davis in Houston, TX, How Much Have You Lost So Far?, Banded June 10th! and and 6 others
-
43 pounds! I thought I would have lost more at this point, but at least I have not gained!
-
I have lost 17 pounds since getting banded on June 10. I am waiting for my first fill, which is on July 3. With the swelling going down and recovering pretty quickly, I am hungry. I need my fill!

I went in for surgery June 10th at 6am (surgery at 8am). The wait did not take too long before they had me in a room and changed. The nurses came through and asked all the same questions and took vitals, then started the IV. Then the anesthesiologists came through and each asked a few questions and then a visit from the bariatric nurse. She really was helpful in explaining everything I would be going through during my stay (she also added I would be staying overnight, something I was not originally supposed to do, but apparently Aetna required it- I guess that is actually a good thing). My husband stayed with me until it was time to go in the OR. Dr. Davis showed up on schedule and asked if we had any questions and answered a few. I went in a little after 8am and they put the oxygen mask on and I was out! I was woken up at 10:10a in a recovery room. I was really groggy and disoriented and my husband was already with me. My stomach looks like an Edward Scissorhands project! I then was taken for the swallow test and chest xrays and then to my room. After about 1 hour, I was asked to walk around the floor and that it would help with the gas. Drymouth and the air pressure was the worst. The larger incision is the only one that was really sore and made it hard to get comfortable. I met with respiratory for spirometer exercises. I was brought lunch at about 5pm and took down a couple spoonfuls of broth, but that was it. After making sure I was using the restroom regularly and speaking with the dietician, respiratory tech, and bariatric nurse, and Dr. Davis' PCA, I was cut loose the next afternoon. I am still sore, but feel best when I am walking around. The gas pains have pretty much went away, but I tire easily. I haven't had any shoulder or back pain, but the incisions are sore and itchy. I am down 14 lbs. since my pre-op appt. on June 2. I go back to work Monday so I hope this weekend goes well!

As far as family, only my husband and my mother-in-law know. My mom is going through a tough time, medically, for herself and I didn't want to add to her worries or anyone elses for now. Work- I have told my boss. She had gastric bypass a couple years ago and I knew I needed to let her know something since it would affect my time at work. That's it for now

I had my surgery Tuesday (after about a 7 month process). I feel mostly tired and sore, but I am walking around more than I thought I would. I am tired of eating broth and Jello! My incisions are starting to itch and I want to soak in a hot bath. The air pressure in my chest is the only really bother. I will be glad when that goes away.

I am going to start now with more exercise and just getting used to being on a schedule with eating and exercise. Good luck!

I was not given an pre-op diet instructions. I only check back in one time before the surgery date and that is with the P.A. and then register at the hospital. Hopefully, these next few weeks fly by!

Finally a date!! So the whole process has been since November, but it took less than two weeks to get final approval from insurance. I am ready to get moving & get healthy!!

It is so great to meet others, especially who live nearby, going through this process. It is hard sometimes to make others understand and support your need to do this. I live in NW Houston, Tomball area. Much of my family lives in Magnolia, so abeaher, I live very close to you. I am getting so excited right now and have committed myself to stick with this supervised diet so I don't set myself up for failure. The hardest part is having to relearn and revise eating habits you have lived with all your life, in order to live happily and healthier for the remainder. I wish ALL of you the best of luck!!!

I just completed my second month of the three month diet. I go back for my last visit with the dietician on Feb. 26!! Then I make the appt. to meet Dr. Davis. I got the results back from my sleep study and I do have sleep apnea. My doc is ordering me a CPAP machine, so hopefully this helps my chances of getting approved. My asthma is also getting worse. I am so ready to start this. 4 weeks until my next check in and I HOPE IT IS SMOOTH SAILING FROM THERE. I think I will cry if I don't get approved!

Anyone use Dr. Garth Davis in Houston, TX
Shaxmom replied to DreaminSkinny's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am currently a pre-op patient at Methodist. Should it all get approved, Dr. Garth will be doing my LB. I know three women that had him as a surgeon and they had nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. -
Hello Fellow Texans (and some fellow Houstonians)!! I live in NW Houston near Tomball. I am going through the Methodist Weight Management Center and have chosen Dr. Garth Davis as my surgeon. My BMI is 41, I am 5'6 and 255. Ugh! I complete my 3 month supervised diet at the end of February, so should everything go through insurance okay, we are looking at surgery in March!!
