Struggling day 7 post op
Lopez1628 replied to Lopez1628's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks!! I'm now 10 days out and I actually did some purée foods last night I had about 2 oz of fat free retried Beans and OMG I never felt so good, I could instantly feel reliefs and energy. This morning I did some grits puréed with a little maple syrup (lite) and was able to tolerate about 2oz of that I measure out my portions to 2 oz and if I feel full before I stop and if I don't feel completely full I just sip some Water and wait till my next meal. I've read different bariatric diets and seen so many different options as far as how long to be on liquids, I did PURE LIQUIDS up until last night, I've lost a total of 21lbs since my surgery on sept 2nd, and I still plan on trying to get my Protein shakes in (looking into shakeology) and my water. I sip and sip and sip water all day. I tried to do tea earlier and it didn't satisfy my thirst at all its like water taste better than anything, I haven't tried juices or anything but milk lol and I'll drink milk if I'm having trouble getting my shakes down but other than that my water is my best friend no joke. Thank you for your help and support!! -

Thank you guys for all of your support!!!! This is by far one of the hardest journeys I have endeavored, but I knew what I was getting myself into before doing it, I just didn't imagine it being this difficult!! I think it's just the carb withdrawals and "chewing" craving. I chewed a grape and spit it out and felt a little better after. I think it's all in the mind. I blended up an apple earlier and strained it and drank the juice from it for the natural sugars, that helped with the sweet craving. But I still am just plain out hungry and I know it but I know I want to loose weight right and follow the plan more than anything. I am currently 8 days post op and down 18lbs!! Seeing this progress gives me hope to keep going and stick it out, I keep telling myself "it isn't forever, just a few more weeks" I think after next week when I can start puréed foods it will really relieve some pressure and cravings. I just am so sick of feeling fatigue. I know I'm not getting enough protein in but it's hard I'm so sick of all the different shakes I have Nd make, I'm going to GNC tomorrow to get a few others to try out and another flavor powder. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND KIND WORDS! It really helps to get through knowing I'm not the only one feeling this way

Struggling day 7 post op

Thanks, yes I am taking Prilosec as well and another nausea medication as needed burnt haven't had any nausea for two Days now. I go back to work tomorrow so hopefully getting back into the work routine will help and since I won't have anything to eat at work just water and shakes, hopefully this will help me curve my cravings. -
Well I guess posting here about my struggles with the sleeve was a bad idea, I didn't realize being honest and reaching out for supporters who have been through it and the struggle would bash saying that "if I can't handle it after one week chances are Your not going to be successful" and "how could I do this to myself" that's not really what I'm looking to hear when asking for help or suggestions to get through the liquid stage, but thanks I'll use this "obvious fact" you stated to remind myself on why I had this surgery, to be successful or at least try to be ????

Thanks for the confidence boost and reminder. I'll use your message to go bash myself now on why I won't eat for the remaining week and remind myself if I do fail it's all good cause my chances were slim of being successful to begin with "obviously". have a good night ???? -

I won't lie I cheated as well a while ago when making my 5 year old some rice and chicken. I took a small bite of chicken and luckily it didn't hurt or upset my stomach but the guilt was enough to make me not take another ???? I really want to do good even when I can eat again by choosing the right foods and so forth. It's just so hard To be the food prepared for the family and not be able to eat anything you prepare for them -
I was sleeved this last week September 2nd. I feel a lot better this week. I was doing awesome since getting home from the hospital up until yesterday. I started getting cravings for anything and everything I know I shouldn't have and idk how to curve these cravings! I don't wanna mess up on my diet and I definitely don't want to risk a leak and I don't want to cheat around my diet. Any suggestions on recipes or foods/soups that you found helped you get through the liquid 2 weeks post op!!

I think finding the right shakes has made it easier especially the right protein powder. I found that the ON(optimum nutrition) protein powder Is the best. After several trial and error runs this one has the least chalky taste and has over 20 flavor a to choose from online. It's a bit pricey but if I have to drink this stuff everyday it's worth it, and a 5lb tube lasts me MONTHS!! I also found that pre-packaging my favorite fruits like strawberries and bananas into individual servings and freezing weeks worth of shakes makes the lifestyle easier. I'm really trying my best this time cause I guess having one failed WLS scares me to have another. If you have any questions on recipes or anything feel free to ask!! I've found lots and made up my own along the way! Today I had a strawberry cheesecake protein shake and a almond creme protein shake and yesterday I made a peanut brittle banana protein shake lol I know they sound unhealthy but they are sugar free and fat free products I use and actually turned out pretty yummy!!

Anyone kept their procedure a secret?
Lopez1628 replied to FatboyNYC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I thought about keeping it a secret but I decided to let my coworkers know and a few family members who are close. I figure it's my life and my decision and if I want to live a healthier lifestyle with the help of weight loss surgery nothin was going to stop me. I previously had the lapband in 2011 which failed and was removed and converted to the sleeve this last week. Is anyone is going to judge me for wanting to live healthy and get my life back than I don't need them in my life. I did this not only for myself but for my kids because I want to be more active for them and show them healthy eating habits, not like before I had surgery eating serving after serving. To me keeping t a secret was more work and stress than just telling people and letting them judge, cause if they were going to judge me for wanting to live a healthier life than I don't need them in my life. But that's just my opinion, I think weight loss surgery is a great thing some don't, but don't let others opinions distract your journey! You'll do great either way
