Dehydration & Strictures
VanessaVSGforme replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you!! I guess it's just the "fear of failing" because I've failed so many other times so I'm trying to be perfect and fully aware of what CAN happen. ya know what I mean? Good to know about the IV fluids...have you ever needed to go back in to have any IV fluids? How do we know if we're dehydrated? This was never a problem in the past. I could down 32 oz 6 times a day and be fine...now, not so much. :-P -

It's day old bread cut into cubes. I put too much thought into it, lol. That's easy. Holy BEEF!!! that sounds SO good!!! Super easy too! I'm all about easy prep! All of these recipes look amazing and I can't wait to try them!! You should start a Facebook page full of recipes or even your very own lil healthy cook book!! These aren't my recipes. I am posting recipes from a diabetic slow cooker cook book. High Protein and low carbs just like what post-op sleevers like us need. I just love the idea of spending a few minutes to setup a meal and coming home to a hot meal ready to go. Walking into my apartment with delicious smells coming from everywhere and I just serve it up. I found a page that shows you how to spend one weekend a month prepping 40 slow-cooker meals so you always have food ready and each meal is super cheap. You save money and time, and you are planning ahead so you don't get stuck without something healthy to eat. 40 meals is enough for a full month including lunches and dinners. When you need one, you just take out the gallon frozen bag, empty it into the slow cooker and turn it on. Then PRESTO! You have a hot and ready meal when you get home. Oh! I thought these were ones you've tried. Can you tell me the name of the book? Maybe I can find it on amazon?

My surgery was also 9/2!!! I think it will get easier...all we can do is take one day at a time, stay off the scale and listen to our bodies. ❤ -

My love for Starbucks!
VanessaVSGforme replied to Nikkip35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello!!! I just wanted to add to this thread!!! I'm 3 weeks and 4 days post op and I (before surgery) would get a Passion Tea Lemonade with at least 10 pumps sweetner in it. Well, since sugar makes me NAUSEATED just at that thought of it and I cannot tolerate artificial sweetners, I decided to Google the nutritional facts of drinks at starbucks......for those of us pretty early post op, I was very VERY happy to find out that I can have a regular iced passion tea!!! It has 0 fat. 0 sugar. 0 carbs. 0 calories and is also caffeine FREE. I'm so excited about this!!! -
It will take me a long time to type all of these up, so let me start with one and I'll add another when I get a chance until they are all there. Let's star with Lemon Garlic Chicken. Ohhhh where did you find those crackers?! That's not bad at all. I was actually surprised...I found some 0 calories 0 fat 0 sugar 0 carbs and they are sitting in my fridge. I want one...but still on puréed so I will wait. lol unless I puree a pickle but there's NO nutritional value in a pickle. :-( -
Is this where I answer you? I can't figure out much of this site's tech stuff. Never mind that. You know that as long as you do the right things, the weight loss will catch up with you. And, as you say, seeing your clothing sizes decrease goes a long way. 'nuf said. I feel guilty about hijacking the fish topic. Don't feel bad! Everyone reads your posts and we all learn things from them and yes, you answered in the right spot!! ????

Thanks! I'm currently at a stall, but have stopped weighing myself. I'm drinking as much Water as possible and getting in as much Protein as I can. I'm so happy to see inches falling off! I went to target yesterday and found out that I fit in a 2x and not 4x anymore!! The 2x was even a little loose!! That's so much more to me than weight loss!!! I'm getting there!!!

That's awesome Kalira. I'm glad you are finding your balance! I'm 3 weeks and 3 days post op. Next Wednesday, I start "soft foods" ... honestly, you can't really chew puree but we have to eat SLOW and make it last. Careful with crackers. Not a healthy choice...maybe add in something like edamames for crunch and protein? -
Excellent suggestions!!! Thanks Laurie!!! (although I wasn't the original poster) :-P -Vanessa

Hey there Toasty! Hope all is going well for ya!! My mom actually says tilapia is good and doesn't taste so fishy. I'm going to try that one next. I wish they'd sample it at costco so we didn't have to buy the whole box and then not like it. :-(
-
Hey! I am going through this same thing! Yesterday, while at costco, I came across the fish section and my mouth was watering for it. Me being me, I waited for people to come to the section and I flat out asked them, can you help me pick a non fishy fish?! They all said Cod. So I bought lemon and pepper seasoned Cod for 15.99 at costco. I'm going to try it later and see if I can ease this fish craving!!! ????

Hey there. Sorry to hear about all the trouble Kalira. Have they told you why you've been feeling so awful when you wake up in the morning? Have you mentioned this to them?? I sure hope you start feeling better. My surgery date was 9/2 also with Dr. Awad! Small world! -
Migraine. Is excedrin ok?
VanessaVSGforme replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Definitely, I actually have a little list of questions for when "hopefully" dr will call me back. I hate to bother him but today was an eye opener. I feel stuck. All I have is liquid Tylenol and that, unfortunately, did not help. The migraine could have been WAY worse with nausea and blurred vision and I thank goodness it didn't and hasn't turned into that!! ☺ -
Hey guys, my surgery was 9/2. TOM is here for the 2nd time since and this time, I have a MASSIVE migraine. Is it safe to take excedrin migraine. Ingredients are just Tylenol + Caffeine. Not an NSAID. Also, I have muscle spasms in my back and prior to surgery, I took valium for the spasms. Anyone know if it's ok to take that as well? My dr is out on vacation. :-(
