I, too, have PCOS and I've had a regular cycle each month since 9/2 (my surgery day) heck! I had a cycle day after my surgery that lasted 2 weeks! sometimes I'll have it twice a month! The only benefit I see from it is that I'm obviously ovulating which means HOPEFULLY I'm dropping eggs! which in turn means hopefully next year, we can start trying for a baby!!! My husband and I have been married 2 years and together for 11. We never used any protection but I never conceived. so ultimately, aside from some medical issues I had which led me to going onto disability at work, my goal was to be a mommy. I'm so happy to say I'm back at work, I'm feeling great! Since June 5, I've lost 100 pounds. Started at 410...Surgery day I was 367 and today I'm 309!!! We can't wait to start trying again! We're going to start trying in June, July or August next year...depending on where I am weight wise. We live in Palm Springs, CA which is the desert and I really don't want to be pregnant during the 110° + weather...so those months will allow for a winter pregnancy. anyways, that's my PCOS story. One other thing, I still have to pluck my "beard" every 3rd or 4th day...I hate the facial hair PCOS brings and I haven't noticed those decrease...but I'll live with it. Plucking kinda is my "me time" and it's a stress reliever for me. LOL ???? GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!

Any August 31st Sleevers?
VanessaVSGforme replied to dorothy510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a 9/2 girl here!! I've lost 71 pounds since June 5. Since surgery 9/2, I've lost 37 pounds. I'm doing great. Only meats I really like/have tried are chicken breast. I've also tried turkey/beef jerky and I chew it to a purée and I love that too. Still do not feel hungry at all and have to remind myself to eat. As for "soft" things, I like yogurt, scrambled egg, quaker oats "weight loss" low sugar and fat oatmeal, cottage cheese, lentils, pintos n cheese from taco bell, string cheese, SF popsicles and jello. Liquids, I do 64 oz + a day of mostly pure water because I love water and also diluted powerade zero. I will not be having any bread, rice, pasta or fried foods AT LEAST until I'm where I want to be weight wise. My new miss. Tammy keeps me in check! Although, I haven't gotten sick or thrown up NOT EVEN ONCE!! But I also chew VERY WELL and eat VERY SLOW. So that's a big help. Very proud of no puke since I am frightened of it touching me or getting it on me. It's a fear! -

Well, I've come to the conclusion that I cannot tolerate artificial sweetners any longer. I've tried Stevia, Truvia, Splenda, Sweet and Low and various others. What can I use to substitute or add a little sweetner to things??? Honey? Agave? Raw honey? Should I just use less than a tsp of regular sugar?! I'm totally fine with Powerade Zero which has sucralose in it...Not sure what exactly is going on with these taste buds. I'd almost rather just have everything unsweetened than to taste those yucky artificial sweetners. Help!

Any August 31st Sleevers?
VanessaVSGforme replied to dorothy510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 9/2 and there's no way I could take in over 1000 calories. Heck, I can't even take in 800. I'm having a premier protein 30 g protein for breakfast, string cheese snack, usually some type of beans with some cottage cheese for lunch, nectar syntrax for snack 22 g protein and for dinner...if I'm feeling ok, then some chicken breast...if Miss. Tammy is NOT feeling good, then another premier protein!! I change things up every day but ALWAYS 64 oz of water/powerade zero AND 60-70g protein. Food isn't even on mind. I'm not hungry AT ALL. I have to remind myself EVERY DAY to eat something. I love it! At the same time...I dont! I need nutrition!! -
Artificial Sweetners
VanessaVSGforme replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just want a more natural way to sweeten. That's all. I don't know which is "healthier" sugar/fat/carbs wise. Raw honey? Regular honey? Agave? Raw Agave? Plain old shurgar? Brown shurgar? Notice I spell sugar like shurgar because that's how I say it. LOL -
Also, with my leftover Mongolian beef, I mixed a couple pieces with some lentil beans for lunch....and they are amazinggggggg. Gives the lentils some flavor!!!

Artificial Sweetners
VanessaVSGforme replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 4 weeks and 5 days. Wednesday will be 5 weeks. The only thing I use it in is usually oatmeal/cream of wheat, plain Greek yogurt, decaf green tea or black tea. All I use is just half a packet of sweet n low or Splenda in each. I guess I should've added with the powerades, I have to dilute it half water half powerade. Still doesn't really make sense though. Also, sugar free pudding and jello upsets me. Sugar free creamsicles. Last night I bought a quest bar...I was craving peanut butter and regular PB is filled with fat so I had a TINY bite...I mean pea size bute...of a peanut butter supreme quest bar and YUCK. It tasted like artificial WAX. I will not be eating those. So as of today, I'm cutting out all SF "sweets" and sweetners and just going to drink/eat things the way they come. -
Artificial Sweetners
VanessaVSGforme replied to VanessaVSGforme's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you...I'd almost rather have 1/4 tsp of the real thing instead of the horrible taste and upset tummy I get with the artificial sweetners. -
Elode was who recommended smooth move for me!!! I drink it just once a week, and I am moving along!!! Love it!!! I also love it without any sort of sweetner too!! Just sayin'!!

3 Weeks post
VanessaVSGforme replied to TheNewME71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. I'm also a little over 3 weeks post op. I'll try and answer from what I'm experiencing. 1. Water is a difficult thing. I still sip sip sip but I have noticed my sips have became bigger and more frequent and way easier. It gets easier every day. Sometimes I feel like I'm actually "almost" drinking like a normal person...just not gulp gulp gulping the whole bottle down of course 2. I bought Celebrate Multivitamin with Iron and also the calcium tablets. Right after surgery, I tried taking them and got VERY nauseated VERY quick. So per my nutritionist, Flinstones Vitamins for now and I just take 3 a day. Nothing else. Although, I do have a call into my nutritionist because I feel like maybe I should be taking other vitamins too? But not sure which ones. Be careful taking multivitamin WITH iron and calcium together. From my understanding, you need to take calcium a couple hours in between the multivitamin w/ iron. 3.) I saw my surgeon 2 weeks after surgery and he cleared me to exercise. All I am physically able to do right now is about 15 minutes on a stationary bike. I'm VERY proud of myself because I could hardly even walk before surgery. While on the bike, I just toss my 50 oz filled water bottle back and forth between my arms and try to keep them moving...sometimes even pretend there's a punching bag in front of me and just punch away who cares...no one's watching lol 4. No regrets! Although it's completely normal (in my opinion) butt the worse part is over! I cried and cried for a good 10 days in a row. Sometimes I cried because my favorite TV show was over. LOL. I think it's hormonal changes! Welp, that's all I have for now! Keep on keeping on! Stay off the scale and if you come to a stall, keep following ur diet and EMBRACE it because it will be over before u know it!! xoxo ❤ -
I haven't did it yet! Lol. It's still in the freezer! Maybe tomorrow! I have to get courageous!

Need help with how to eat for long weekend get away
VanessaVSGforme replied to Hello new me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi. Sorry to butt in. Do the isopure teas (green and black) have caffeine in them? Just checked the website. The green tea and black tea with lemon do contain caffeine. The coconut and fruit flavors do not. I have no negative reactions to caffeine and I can't have the food dyes that the other flavors of the No Carb protein drinks come in. I was told no caffeine till I can meet me 64 oz of non caffeineeted preferably water goal each day...that might be a lil while lol. I'm still very new. thank you!! I'll just go pick up a couple more flavored ones! -

So I know it's VERY important to get 64 Oz of fluids in every day. I'm slowly trying to work my way up to this. As of now...I get about 50-55 oz in every day. Some days are better than others. My question is, how long before we can stop worrying about being re-hospitalized for dehydration? I know it's very common within the first week...but I have this fear it MAY happen if for some reason I only get 40 oz or even 30 oz in on one day? I'm 3 weeks & 4 days post op. I have no intention to stop drinking water...but it's just a worry. Another worry is a stricture? Do those only happen within the first weeks? Or can they happen even months down the line? Just some questions and again, I have every intention to follow my nutritionists rules...but these are questions that I'd like some input on. Thanks!
