Question about protein drinks
Sophie74656 replied to Sajijoma's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
these are what I drink too. Before my surgery I thought they were great. But now I have a hard time getting them down. Today I blended some frozen strawberries with half of the vanilla container and it was very good -
pureed cauliflower with cheese is very good

What if it doesn't work?
Sophie74656 replied to bbp4114's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think we've all thought that in the beginning. I'm one week post op and I definately had those thoughts, especially when the date got closer and closer. But if you stick to the programs it will work. It's all about your mind set. YOU CAN DO IT!! -
I'm still on liquids but here are some things I'm looking forward to eating tuna, egg, and avocado salad baked cottage cheese - mix cottage cheese with some tomato sauce and mozarella, bake until melty I don't know what you would call it but form a slice of ham into a cup in a muffin tin, add an egg into it an top with some cheese, bake until egg is cooked

Sleeve with gallbladder removed.
Sophie74656 replied to anna9/15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago. The only difference I've noticed with food is that anything high in fat or greasy (back when I ate fast food) would cause bathroom issues later -
What about adding a bit of Peanut butter to your shake in the blender?

Tips to get through the POST OP 3 week liquid diet!
Sophie74656 replied to leighannnn1791's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
soups have been good for me. i just got some vegetable soup and strained out the veggies. I added a little touch of lime, and it is so good. I am sipping on it right now. -
I'm 4 days post op and I'm having a hard time getting the premier protein shakes down too. I like them before the surgery but now it's like I have to choke them down. I can barely finish a whole bottle. I did find that adding some instant coffee and a touch of sweetener to the vanilla shakes made it better, it was like an iced coffee

I was told to stay away from straws too. Also not to drink Muscle Milk because it has too much sugar

I think we all have moments where we stop and think "what have I done" Personally there have been many moments especially when a commercial for a big juicy hamburger comes on that I think that. But I know it will get better

I'm having the same problem. I can't choke down my shakes. One thing that helped was mixing a bit of instant decaf coffee into my vanilla shake. It was almost like an iced coffee and that helped a bit.

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
Sophie74656 replied to Awjones28's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I haven't told anyone but my immediate family about my surgery so personally I haven't had many of those comments. But I know others who have Mainly people seem to think that surgery is "cheating" that you could have just exercised and ate less and that was it. Well that doesn't work for everyone. There are people who can do that and be successful long term, but most people can't. How many of us have cut calories, exercised, starved ourselves, only to have lost just a few pounds. Surgery is just another tool in the battle to loose weight. All the surgery did was change the shape of my stomach. I still decide what goes in my stomach, and I still have to choose to exercise. I can be bad and eat junk post surgery and gain weight, or I can be good and follow the plan and loose weight. The surgery was just a bit of help, most of the work is still up to me -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
Sophie74656 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As an overweight person there have always been factors that I hated...not being able to fit into a booth at a restaurant, not finding clothes that fit, always feeling tired, not being able to walk from the car to the front door without being out of breath. But the actual "straw that broke the camel's back" was durring a weekend trip my husband and I went on. We went to one of those cheesy romantic resorts. Unfortunately the room was covered in mirrors, floor to ceiling mirrors. This was when I realized what I actually looked like and it really hit me when we were walking to the evening entertainment how hard it was for me to walk.I felt like everybody was looking at how huge I was (especially at the buffet) My whole weekend was ruined. Before this I had briefly thought about surgery, but after that weekend I had made the decision and started doing research
